Was there tonight. Given its all just a few months in it feels quite established. You can sit at hotmales outside bar and in the right spot see the entrances to the five gogo bars on patpong2. Yes you are up high on their balcony and it’s not quite soi twilight. But given the big upheaval of that closure it’s amazing how much has reformed in one 50 yard stretch. And with the arrival of the massage shop it does feel quite like a community. Got to give it a full High season to see how it fully settles down.3 points

Someone FINALLY Tells Guy Fawkes to STFU
TotallyOz and one other reacted to RockHardNYC for a topic
I wouldn't describe Oz's style of moderation quite like that. He has made his patient feelings known, and most of us support his lighter, more receptive hand. That does not mean you can play him for a weak and feckless fool. He takes action when necessary, and he listens and responds to reasoned thinking. Big difference between Daddy and Co. and Oz. A forum community with less activity is easier to control. One or two trolls won't cause a "meltdown." Not sure how Oz would handle some of the escort haters from Hooboy's days if those numbers were here. IMO, hate should never be tolerated in a gentleman's club. No smart forum owner would ever let cancer consume his community. Let's hope Oz will never need to be tested.2 points -
My one experience with a silicone dick indicates that it's unusable for both parties, though the owner can still pee through it, I suppose.2 points

Haha! Don't worry. I dont go for the reasons I outlined. Being attended by a female bar girl is of no interest to me. The great thing about the Soi Twilight bars was the cameraderie amongst the guys themselves. Then if you bought them drinks they would sit with you and ensure you were having a good time, even though the basic English level might not have been high. I fully realise Twilight is dead and will not come back. My point was Patpong 2 could do with a few gay-staffed beer bars. No idea whether it will or not.2 points

Thats probably the reaction of all who live far from Thailand and whose trips inevitably are limited to once or twice a year. But having lived in the country for more years than i care to remember, the availabilty of cute and handsome young men does begin to reduce the appetite. Besides, constant bar hopping and constant massages remain expensive and most living here still have to pay for some form of accommodation. The grass is not always greener!2 points

Website with news of gay businesses
Wynter11 reacted to daydreamer for a topic
Once in a while I check a website called bangkokeyes.com to see the latest nightlife news. The August 2019 edition has a few snippets about Chill Out Boy Bar in Patpong 1 being closed with a photo. It also mentions Bangkok Massage moving from Soi Twilight to Patpong 2 (with photo), and this - "The newly relocated (from Soi Twilight 2 months ago) Hotmale Bar Beer is in the process of renaming themselves the Midnite. Located next to Pinocchios. We'll attempt to get some comprehensive pics next issue.... " If you've never visited bangkokeyes, take a look. It's predominantly aimed at the straight nightlife venues, but they don't discriminate. Their archives are extensive, and there are many old photos taken on Soi Twilight showing the lighted signs of the bars that were there. If you scroll to the bottom of the page, the archived page from 01 JUN 2019 has a whole article dedicated to Gay Patpong and Soi Twilight. I am copying a couple photos from their website here. I hope I'm not violating any rules in doing so. These photos shown here are the property of Bangkok Eyes, not my own. This last photo is a map of Patpong showing the gay businesses. The lavender colored ones are listed as gay in their website as of April 2019. I think by posting this here, it will boost the readership for the Bangkok Eyes website.1 point -

Oz has absolutely 2 or 3 times come down to cut trolls here off their testicles & cast them out. Rightly. But no mommy-ish needless messing around in the forums day-to-day. He leave us to our own devices, on the supposition we can work things out among ourselves. What an adult point of view.1 point -

go the nearest church, all the way on your knees and thank Almighty that you don't know. Some guys injected silicone into their dick to increase size and result usually permanent and unsightly damage , engrossed cock having nothing to do with sexy. There was one in XBoys Pattaya which was memorably just awful but it seems poor guy is gone. Still , if rest of guy would be attractive I'd off him and find activities to keep us entertained.1 point

Singapore eases entry
splinter1949 reacted to reader for a topic
From Bangkok Post SINGAPORE: Foreign visitors travelling to Singapore using selected transport services can now submit electronic arrival cards up to 14 days before they reach the country. This means that these visitors will need to produce only their passports for immigration clearance upon arrival — instead of filling out paper arrival cards — as their details will already be in the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority’s (ICA’s) system, TODAY reported The move, announced by the ICA on Wednesday, is part of the authority’s new “SG Arrival Card” e-service, which went on trial last October, and has now been extended to visitors travelling via certain airlines, coaches and ferries. Previously, only visitors approached by ICA officers in person upon arrival were given the option to fill in the e-arrival card, TODAY understands. Visitors travelling with these transport companies are eligible for e-arrival cards, said ICA: Airlines: AirAsia, Jetstar Asia, Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines Coach: Transtar Travel Ferries: BatamFast Ferries, Bintan Resort Ferries, Horizon Fast Ferry and Majestic Fast Ferry All other visitors will still have to complete paper disembarkation or embarkation cards upon arrival. https://www.bangkokpost.com/travel/1730815/singapore-launches-e-arrival-cards-for-foreign-visitors1 point -
In Grindr or Scruff, at least in Rio, there is an increasing number of guys who claim to like "maduros" or "coroas"or "50 +" ie older gentlemen. During my first trips to Rio, back 10 years ago, these ads were very rare. They are now common and are basically of 4 types : - the garotos de programa who are identified as such in the ad - the garotos who are in fact garotos de programa but who do not identify themselves as GP and try to find an older gentlemen who will think that he is not a guy next door and not a GP - the garotos really liking older gentlemen, who are of course a very small minority. They are not expecting anything else than finding a boyfriend or starting a relationship with someone older. They are not looking for money. Since my first travel, I met around 15 of these boys and am still in contact with a few of them, even meeting some of them, for dinner or more, when I am in Brazil - the crooks. This is a new category which seems to be growing and I know that there is a gang of these boys operating in Rio and Sao Paulo. They will meet you and then blackmail you, rob you and put pressure on you to get money. Below are some of the precautions I take to try to identify the boys who genuinely like older gentlemen : - I make it very clear that I am not looking for a GP and I am not prepared to pay for sex (normally the guys from first 2 categories above stop chatting) - I make it clear that I am not (only) looking for sex but want to have discussion on subjects such as politics, travels, languages, art, music, ... - I try to use internet sites which are specialized in bears (and therefore avoid Grindr or Scruff or be even more careful on these general sites) - I check if they know the places where older gentlemen and younger guys who like them meet together (ie La Cueva in Rio and ABC Bailao in Sao Paulo, or internet sites such as ursosderio, or sauna such as Carioca in Rio or Sauna LeRouge 80 in Sao Paulo) - Some questions raise a red flag, in particular the question "are you alone in Rio ?" or personnal questions coming too early and not naturrally during the exchange (on job, ...) - Some attachments also raise a red flag : a too good looking guy -almost a model -, nudes of open asses or huge dicks sent very early in the exchange, ... - I always meet in a public place first, never in my hotel or apartment. I normally arrive in advance in order to see who is coming, if he is alone, is he looks like the pictures which were sent, etc - I never ever go to a boy's place. It is an unknown environment and you never know whom you are going to meet. In addition, a movie or pictures of your meeting can be done ... I remember the story of this american guy who recently in Rio went with 2 guys he met in the street and with whom he had drinks. He was threatened to be thrown from the window and his head and torso were already out (his shouting made the neighbours call the cops). BTW the 2 guys were working in 117. I saw one of them in 117 a few days after the incident. The other is banned from 117, certainly for other reasons. In addition, it is impossible to know what is going to be1 point

He sounds like an idiot. You will require his name for a bank transfer/remittance. His name must correspond exactly to his account. Otherwise an account entry error could be made by anyone. To send him cash (he picks it up) via Western Union you must enter his name and address ... if his worry is you having both name and banco account #. You can use PayPal with simply person's mobile number or email address, but you will likely need his email because of the country code difference, you can put him in contacts as Fercho. He will need to be set up to receive the SMS or email prompt he has the transfer, or the prompt for him to open PayPal account.1 point

Yes, that's a possibility to have in Patpong 2, but some go go bar got seats outside where you can view the people and even the boys parading (like in-between New Dreamboys and Paradiso where you can also see their boys parade with numbers as they transfer from these two bars).1 point -

You are 125% right but even best memories will not help with challenges at present. Soi Twilight is gone whether we like or not and now we need to find ways to make ourselves at home where venues are. Dwelling in ruins , even in soi Twilight ruins is never of any comfort.1 point -

Then you shouldn't go and don't let anyone make you go. Some people, however, might find it nice to sit at a beer bar across from Dreamboys and Lucky and BKK Massage (and right near the entrance to Fresh Boys and Hot Male) and enjoy that view and the various comings and goings, regardless of the gender of the server. Particularly when business is slow the staff from any of those shops might be hanging out on the street and might even come over and chat and flirt as they did back on Soi Twilight. Again - for some people - but not everyone - it's an option to keep in mind.1 point -

There is a way to possibly speed up the eventual conversion and I credit DivineMadman for first mentioning it about six months ago. Pick out of these well-positioned straight bars, sit down and order your drink. When a lady waitress lingers in search of business, politely tell her you're watching the action across the soi. Give her nice tip and she'll leave you alone. She certainly prefers a gay customer to no customer. Do this once and the staff will recognize you when you come again and leave you be. You get a great view and they get their tip. If the owners see business on the upswing, they may even take on a cute guy to attend to the new trade.1 point -
I can see that. When I decided not to relocate back in 2004, it was one of the many considerations that guided my decision. The anticipation and thrill of the journey- departure and arrival, if not the night on the plane- as well as the contrast with my life at home, help to make each of the days I'm there memorable.1 point

Some reviews from my July Bangkok trip
ChristianPFC reacted to thaiophilus for a topic
Ah. Yes, I see the difference. The OYO branding is new. It's difficult to determine the real room prices now, with so many booking site "special deals", but when I stayed there in January 2019 the rate was B1090 for a "single superior" room. Rates I have paid (for early January of the year noted): 2007: B688 2008: B708 2009-2012: B808 2014-2016: B868 2017-2018: B950 2019: B1090 I don't seem to have records for 1996-2006, when my bookings were probably made by fax (and there were real multipart airline tickets!).1 point -
Jakarta!

The drag show was just PART of the show, they had gogo's and male dancers also. Is the ONLY gay bar in Jakarta and only open certain days....I would go back in a second, had a lot of fun, but I brought someone with me. People tended to stay in their groups, however did get quite a few messages later and the next day from people that said they say me at the club. 1.I have T-Mobile for my cell phone and seems that it doesn't require VPN in places that the apps are blocked....when I connected to Wifi, I needed a VPN. 2. I stayed in South Jakarta, Kunigan, walking distance to the bar (even though I only went 1 night)...was convenient to restaurants, movies and no one seemed to have a problem fining me... 3. I heard no problems at western hotels, I stayed at AirBnb and no problem at all...weird looks from security, but never said anything. 4. Seems like ALL action is on the apps, doesn't seem to be a "cruising" scene...confirmed with everyone I met.1 point -
On the tumblr sites that are now banned, there were some vdos of Chinese KTV karaoke joints where the boys were not just serving. They were totally naked for most of the evenings and got up to some quite naughty things! They were far raunchier that almost any gogo bar in Thailand. I asked some Shanghai friends about these. They told me there are maybe 3 in Shanghai but they are located in the suburbs and westerners would not be encouraged to visit them. Apparently they are also to be found in quite a number of other Chinese cities. If anyone is interested and has loads of time on their hands, an overseas Chinese studying at a University in the Netherlands wrote a long thesis on these bars. This includes interviews with the boys, the mamasans and the owners. The title of the thesis is "Space, Sexuality and Power: Producing a Gay KTV in China" and it was written in the summer of 2016.The website is http://edepot.wur.nl/403488 If only for the interviews, it makes interesting reading. Here is one quote from a foreman (mamasan) which shows that the way they are able to operate is similar to Thailand.1 point

Many non-Thai guys that we meet take this route regularly. Most try to sleep through it but others can not, aware of the risks of just such an accident. From Nation Multimedia Eleven people were killed and four others seriously injured when a chartered van carrying Lao workers for visa renewal to the Chanthaburi immigration checkpoint collided with an 18-wheel truck in Sa Kaew province early on Sunday. Police suspect Thai van driver Sansern Sathongkhan might have dozed off behind the wheel, and driven the van into the opposite lane where it crashed head-on with the oncoming truck. They found the dead bodies of the van driver and Lao passengers at the scene, many of whom were crushed in the wrecked van while some were flung out under the force of the impact. Rescue workers extricated four seriously wounded people -including three Lao passengers and the truck driver Subin Pengmoo - to rush them to the district hospital. Following the fatal crash report in Wang Somboon district at 4.15am, police and rescue workers rushed to the scene on the Sakaew-Chanthaburi Road section near the entrance to the Wang Somboon District Office. They found the dead bodies of the van driver and Lao passengers at the scene, many of whom were crushed in the wrecked van while some were flung out under the force of the impact. My one experience with a silicone dick (granuloma) was satisfactory for both parties although somewhat usual and perhaps revolting. The Thais may use other substances than silicone such as paraffin, olive oil, mineral oil, etc.0 points
