A new sauna is opening up in Rio in the next 1 - 2 weeks. It puportedly will be the largest in Brazil. It was the site of a former Casino and Hotel, so has the "rooms" already! It has been going extensive remodeling the past 3 weeks adding the saunas, and making it into a useable form for a Gay sauna. I saw a video yesterday of what it looks like. It is going to have 16 or 18 suites, a large showroom/dance area with Gogo boy cages 10' above the floor and also a smaller separate bar for having negotiations with the guys where the music is quieter! Oh...and it is very close to 117! It looks to be about 5 blocks apart on Google maps! They are trying to have it open by June 24th4 points

Bangkok nights (trip report) and more

As it happens, Busaba massage is no longer there. Ir technically maybe it is, in a sense. But it has changed dramatically. The shop seems to have been renovated and refurbished, looking like new and more upscale than the old Busaba now. Also the name changed to "Relax Thai Massage". See this picture taken from Natural Massage just opposite: In rather typical Thai fashion, nobody bothered to take off the big old Busaba sign board above. Otherwise, it has no resemblance to the old place. This changed happened very suddenly and very quickly, I had seen the old place not very long ago, maybe in May. As for other shops, on the right hand side there are the following shops, in this order coming from Silom: 1. the new Natural Massage as described by Mack in his blog, some boys sitting outside 2. Center Point Massage, almost invisible as nobody ever sits outside 3. Paradise Massage, not THAT new anymore, but facilities still in excellent shape, always boys sitting outside. Very gay, no minimum tip but extras virtually always offered, but still good massages (my experience). In Mack's categorization I'd put this between type 2 and 3. 4. Classic Massage, formerly Ben Ten girlie massage. Changed their concept from girlie to mixed, now always boys (and some girls) sitting outside 5. The Green Massage, sometimes, but not always boys sitting outside. Well known type 2 shop using Mack's system.3 points -
Riobard I do not believe it is the same place, it is owned by a local Brazilian and he is leading the space(I think it is a 5 year lease)to a American and a Brazilian whobl are partners in this venture) Here is a photo of it taken whrlen it was still operating as a casino2 points

Bar Mixx moved to a new location since the last time I visited Porto Alegre, less than one-half mile from the old location. It's a much bigger space with more tables, a dance floor, stage and an outdoor area. The concept is still the same with some guys who were working earlier coming to Bar Mixx along with some local guys, showing up around 10:30 - 11 pm. I was there on a Friday and Saturday night and neither night was very busy but both nights 15-20 guys there. They also have some rooms for rent as well. Be careful if you Google for the bar's address as the old address still shows up on many sites. Search for Novo Bar Mixx and not simply Bar Mixx. Here is the new address: Novo Mixx Bar R. Santos Dumont, 1174 Porto Alegre - RS, 90230-240, Brazil A few photos below and apologize they are dark but the lights were turned down extremely low when I was there.1 point

Very interesting if this is a leased space in the former grande dame Hotel Glória, sold to a company, essentially state of Abu Dhabi, following its failed, incomplete renovation prior to the Olympic Games. I am only guessing because casinos had their golden age but then were outlawed in the 1940s, and it is a few blocks s/e from the Metro station. As for the name, I think it is shortsighted and I urge reconsideration at the outset. There are Lions Club International branches in Rio de Janeiro. The administrators of this new venue may not be aware of the identity, mandate, and global reach of Lions Club, Rotary Club, etc.1 point -
No. never been. This kind of ''club'' though is also quite common in TH and of course aims it own client-group. Its also very common in Japan/Korea for lonely ladies. And once again: bodybuild really says nothing about services rendered, lah!1 point

Somehow I cant see westerners and retired expats being able to live on anything like 30K baht per month in Bangkok. Perhaps up country. The minimum wage may be one third of 30K but these workers will generally be living either with family or with a group of others in very cheap rented accommodation. Meals will be either self-cooked or bought from street stalls. Most Thais are eligible for the governments universal health coverage of 30 baht per visit or night in hospital irrespective of the nature of the illness. Visitors are not, I understand. How young teachers get by on 30K baht I have no idea unless they share a cheap apartment, have some form of subsidised meals at their schools and subsidised medical care. So as z909 points out, it IS possible. But very, very hard in my view. Its a government regulation that those on retirement visas (available to anyone after age 50) must have 65K baht coming in from overseas each month. Im like traveller123 in that I own my own apartment. I dont bother with a car and my healthcare costs a bit more (as I expect I have higher limits). I find 800K baht annually covers all that for me and allows enough within that sum for a bit of travelling and the occasional luxury. I really doubt if I could do it for even that amount if I had to rent an apartment. Aside from apartment rental, medical insurance will be the highest single expense, and that increases dramatically as you get older. As for getting round the regulation about remitting 65K from overseas to your bank account per month, a recent tightening of the regulations now make avoiding that all but impossible.1 point

Only two other Presidents went through impeachment: Richard Nixon and Andrew Johnson. Nixon resigned from office right before the House vote (after Republicans went to him privately and told him he would lose an impeachment and removal fight in both the House and Senate. Aaa I’m sure you already know, Nixon was in his second and last term. Johnson became the first president impeached by the House, but he was later acquitted by the Senate by only one vote. Not seeing the writing on the wall, he attempted a run for a second term. but landed 4th on the end ballot in the party primaries — with almost all of his support coming from racist rednecks in Tennessee that liked his pardoning of treasonous Civil War Confederates.1 point -

Any tips for Istambul ?
floridarob reacted to Latindude for a topic
So... I just returned from Istanbul, it was a nice week there and I also got some new hair in my forehead lol (yes Turkey is a Mecca for hair transplants, so I took the opportunity to get some personal repairs ) Haspa is a nice bar, however it is very small, really like an studio apartment. Music is mainly Turkish, but it has a very relaxed environment. There was maybe 3 or 4 hustlers the day I visited (Saturday night) when I arrived one came already and started talking to me, I was not really interested, but I didn’t want to be impolite - so I kept answering his questions - that was my mistake, because he stayed the rest of the night following me. The hustlers there usually don’t say that they are working boys, so be aware of that, this guy for example said the he was a masseurs just after an hour or so, when I was trying to get rid of him. Their waiters are very cute. The entrance fee is 40 lira, and you get a beer included in this amount. Drinks have a normal price for bar in Istanbul - 30 lira for a bottle of local beer, and 45 lira for a prepared drink. Concerning the Apps, they are very busy in Turkey, the main one is Hornet , as Grindr is somehow blocked (it is necessary a VPN connection or roaming to use that). Many escorts - they will try to charge 100 usd or euros for an hour - but many will go for half of that. There are many free boys as well - I met a 25yo Turkish, civil engineer, very mainly but cute guy, that turned to be of the hungriest bottoms I have ever met. He kept sending me messages in the next days asking for another date - unfortunately I had my hair transplant, so no sex in the last days.1 point -

New Years is fun in Rio, the largest NYE celebration in the world. However, I don't go to saunas about 2-3 days after Christmas until the middle of January. The saunas are SOOO full , that the wait for a room is ridiculous and with so many tourists (nationals as well as foreigners). The boys ask higher than normal and stick to their high price, for the most part. And is very frustrating when you really like someone and he's taken with two more waiting for him. The first three weeks of December has been some of my best times in saunas....people thinking about Christmas, business is slow. The boys need money to buy presents for whomever, hardly any tourists....they are hungry for business and really try to earn it. Rooms/apts are cheaper....overall your money will go a lot further.1 point -
I am one of the 90s generation....falangs who experienced a vibrant Pattaya scene and fell in love with it. At the age of seventy-two, I count myself lucky- I am one of the survivors, aiming to grow older more disgracefully. I am not alone in one respect and it is one that is sometimes forgotten. Look at the today's gay Thai/falang couples in Thailand; one thing has changed since the 90s. More of them are of an older falang (nothing new there) with a Thai who is in his 30s or 40s rather than 20s. No longer "offs" intent on making a1000bht for an hour's work but partners. Friends. In some cases, even married. Perhaps , one day long ago, the Thais were go- go dancers looking for that fortunate falang. Some found their man and are now in some sort of long term relationship. In my case, it's one of fifteen years. We don't go to go go bars but spend our money in restaurants and we don't restrict ourselves to gay hot-spots, such as they are. Krabi, Chiang Rai, Luang Prabang have been recent destinations. Usually, we are "the only gays in the village"....but nobody seems to mind. I suppose that people like me are some of the "lost" gogo bar punters and the ones partly responsible for an almost deserted Boyztown.1 point
