Heading back to SP today, this trip was supposed to be all about the sauna but alas! the reports have me worried. I however swear I am up to no good!!! I will keep you guys posted as much as I can.

Lagoa is not "closing" as to "going out of business" - The sauna will be moved to a new facility. They are moving because their lease on the three houses that comprise the sauna is expiring. Rodolfo, the owner, has no other job or income. Although he is a doctor, he has not practiced medicine for more than twenty years. He depends on the income from the sauna for his day-to-day expensive travels and lifestyle. He will not close the sauna. He is working out a deal for a new facility located a few miles from Lagoa's present location. The new facility will be smaller than the present location. As soon as a firm commitment for the new facility is established, Rodolfo will be making numerous announcements where and when the new facility will open. Rodolfo does not want to lose any revenue because of the move. No, Rodolfo will not let that "gold mine" disintegrate as many other saunas have done over the years. I am currently in Brazil again and plan to go to Lagoa tonight. Remember, Wednesday and Friday are usually (not always)the busiest and best nights at Lagoa. My last few visits to Lagoa were disappointing. If the place is filled tonight and joyful, like it used to be in prior times, I will report back.

It’s Wednesday and almost lunch time. Ya, known to many on the Forum, as one of the early and incredibly helpful and popular Siam Roads guides, has retired from guiding and is managing properties for farangs and expats in Pattaya. We’ve agreed to meet up for lunch today. That gives me a chance to catch up on my reporting before he arrives. Before I begin, let me recommend Nathan_B’s post about Pattaya. He captures the mood much better than I ever could and since we share most of the same opinions about the venues, it does away with the need to describe the clubs and staff. Sunnee is almost hopeless, but not completely as there is the chance that.someone from the past will reappear. It’s important to underline and shout out that it is slow season...even in Jomtien which has its new Jomtien Walking Street signage, a majority of the tables and chairs are empty. My days have been somewhat routine. Go the beach in the morning, red and blue umbrella section just past the old restroom/new storage facility. Once there I settle in and then have a massage on the sand. The section hosts shade my pale body with umbrellas. Last year, on both visits to Pattaya, Noo was my masseur of choice. On Sunday, I couldn’t find him and didn’t see him walk by, so I went with Thim. OK massage, so I repeated with him on Monday. Of course, Noo now appears. I tell him what happens, book him for Wednesday back at the hotel as the beach umbrella sections are closed on Wednesday. I go for a walk around 3, stop at some of the Jomtien Complex bars as they are setting up and the boys are arriving to work. I learn but am not surprised how hard it is to find customers in the slow season who will take the guys off or even tip them when they sit with them and go through the routine “where you from/stay/for how long? While Fah massage has closed, two newer massage places have opened, one next to Fah, the other a few paces on the left - next to the show that sells condos and swimwear, - as one leaves the Venue. I didn’t try either. Tuesday, I had a great massage from one of the bar boys at CJ...he contacted me on Romeo, I recognized from the photo that he was working nearby, so went over and chatted, told him I didn’t want to off him, he suggested massage, I agreed and we arranged it Tuesday, which was yesterday. Tuesday night, I went in earlier to Boyztown as suggested by the Toy Boy manager. I was so early (8:40pm) the boys weren’t even on stage. Manager quickly remedied that. Other customers followed me in. The object of my interest arrived about ten minutes later. Manager tells me he is a “newbie” ;from Cambodia. As soon as he’s clocked in, Manager brings him over. David tells me this is his third day working at Toy Boys, he came from Cambodia five weeks ago and worked in a Jomtien restaurant the first month, some of his friends had “lot of money” and he decided to work where they did. Over a year ago Rodolfo the owner was notified that his lease would more then likely not be renewed! The land it sits on is much more valuable with a 20 story condo on it(the same situation Pointe might face as the family that owns and are Point202's landlords also own the Atlanico hotel a few blocks away on Siquero Campos and we're going to build a hotel there but those plans fell through when they could not get the tax exemption). Rudolfo, does not seem concerned about it and it does not seem to be worried if he has to close, but it has not happened yet and I was told it probably won't happen this year, but no one seems to know for sure!

In a different thread about Lagoa started by a different poster, I ended my post as follows: I am currently in Brazil again and plan to go to Lagoa tonight. If the place is filled tonight and joyful, like it used to be in prior times, I will report back. I arrived at Lagoa tonight a little past six. There were hardly any customers or garotos. As time passed and within an hour, a few more clients and garotos arrived. Of the garotos at Lagoa tonight, there were about three garotos I thought looked pretty good until I saw one walk around acting effeminate which quickly made me lose interest in that one.
