I am here in Rio now and Carnival is over tonight. As a USA friend who lives here said--Carnival is the best and worst of Rio--and I tend to agree having been here for four Carnivals. On the good side the city is generally in a festive mood with street parties everywhere and many people wearing costumes that are amazing or some just simple and fun. There are lots of hot guys in gender bending costumes that adds to the eye candy. The saunas have been full of guys and the party is full on there! The Sambadrome where the floats that make Carnival so famous is really an incredible spectacle that I never get tired of. There is a gay party on Friday night of Carnival that gives you front row seats and open bar with admission called Candybox. You can buy tickets online a few months before. There were heavy rains earlier in Carnival this year but it didn't stop the party. One final good note---city services and trash collection seemed to be pretty organized and cleaned up effeciently after the big events--unlike a previous year I attended when they chose Carnival to go on strike. On the bad side crime and yes violence is rampant. First day of Carnival I saw tear gas fired by police at Ipanema to break up crowds causing people to panic. Another night I was walking on Farme de Amoedo and someone attempted to rob me--but since I had nothing with me they got nothing(this was an aggressive grab in my pocket while I was distracted by three twinks whom I suspect were working with the guy. My cell and most of my money were locked away in my apartment). Two other well traveled friends had their cell phones taken within hours of arriving( one wall pulling it out to call an Uber). Tonight several local guys told me that 5 people were shot in a fight between "gangsters" and police at the beach in Ipanema just down from the gay beach toward the Arpoador--and again more tear gas fired. Since I did not see this incident I cannot confirm it. What i did see tonight was a big fight on Farme de Amoedo that spilled into Gallitos Grill despite metal barriers with several staff joining in and customers fleeing. Police eventually arrived and occupied the restaurant with about 20 officers standing guard. Well for me that was the end of the party. I still have a lot of fun at carnival but it is a crazy time in the city and I really feel it is not the best time for someone's first trip to Rio. Anyway I thought I would share my observations.4 points

I remember the first time I went to Rio during Carnaval, a hot, muscular drunk guy pulled out his large floppy dick right on Copacabana beach and started peeing. Guys were actually pulling out their dicks all over the place to pee with zero fucks given who saw them or how many people were around. Brazilians definitely have a carefree, relaxed attitude about nudity..4 points

I agree with previous posters, most garotos would not like being paid in a currency other than their own. On a side note, if you live in the U.S. and have an ATM card, it is so easy to get local currency from ATM machines in Brazil. ATM machines are in many places throughout Brazil. You will usually get a better exchange rate than if you exchange at a cambio. Be careful, do not use ATM machines at night or in obscure places. If you find yourself leaving Brazil with too much local currency, you can pay your hotel bill with the excess and your credit card to settle the full amount. Or, you might like Brazil so much, you will want to keep the local currency for your next trip. Boa viagem2 points

BenG1000 - stay with the Thai business class / it's as quick for clearing immigration as the Fast Track greeter service. This is based on having used both. Biggest delay is waiting for luggage... Take a look at the airport map and know your route to the taxi queue. At that hour of the night, taxi is faster than the train and faster than having booked a car and driver as the driver has to be called from the waiting area which adds some minutes. You can speed up the taxi by telling the driver you are in a hurry and you'll pay 500 THB...that's about 30% more than what the metered rate is, but if you include the tolls it's maybe 15% more. This kind of offer will focus the driver and he won't be tempted to use some side roads to minimize the toll.2 points

A tl:dr answer to your question: Most garotos would not want to be paid in any currency other than Brazilian reais. Paying in USD or any other non-Brazilian currency would require them to incur about a 10-15% currency exchange hit at a cambio. The only three incidents I could envision a garoto accepting USD (or any non-Brazilian currency): 1. The garoto is about to travel to another country and can use that currency there; 2. The client agreed to pay an extra 10-20% to cover the currency exchange fees; or 3. The garoto just likes to collect currency from around the globe, like coin collectors or stamp collectors.2 points -
A friend sent me this photo taken while he walked down a Rio street not long before Carnaval began - Until heavy rains wash away the smell, it must be awful to work or live around that area. Considering the massive crowds, where are the public restrooms during Carnaval? Yuk!2 points

When I first started going to Rio back in 2003, I met a handsome garoto introduced to me by a member of this forum. The garoto and I ran around together a lot. Most nights, that garoto stayed with me during my stays throughout the rest of that year and well into 2004. Eventually, we drifted apart. He was married with a child and I was too promiscuous considering the quantity and quality of available garotos in Rio. One day he suggested we go to Ipanema to a restaurant he knew. I agree and off we went. Suddenly, as we were walking down an ordinary street, he stopped, unzipped his trousers, pulled out his cock and began to pee against a tree in plain view of many people walking on the same sidewalk and in view of drivers passing by. He had not been drinking. Needless to say, I learned that in Brazil, modesty is not one of the things that are of concern to garotos or even to people they pass on the streets.2 points -

Well after 6 years I’m back in Rio and what a 2 weeks it’s been so far. club 117 remains the best the hottest and the horniest spot on the planet I’ve been there 6 nights a week for 2 weeks and wow just wow. I love that 99% of the guys are as straight as you can be when you have gay sex for a living ! There is muscle there is twink there is Black as the dark of night and blonde as a swede and of course your typical Latino and they are all so lovely. They kiss they suck and some even deep throat, they fuck like their life depends on it and most make you feel ( at the time) they love you. I have found a great guy who will happily get fucked for his pay check and he’s a fit number and he runs off to find other guys that suit my taste and are also up to get fucked and we all take turns at the front back and middle ! Beef sandwiches are my thing. Sundays are relatively quiet, Monday’s closed and Tuesdays wall to wall as there is no charge for cabins so there are more customers which brings MORE BOYS. I’ve been eating my way through 3 a night and one night 4...... they will come and sit and chat for ages and after aren’t in a rush and to run off and are happy to snuggle up for a bit on a sofa. As always agree what they will and won’t do as I had one who said he was versatile and then changed his mind when I told the other guy to fuck him so the other boy got him gone, it was part of the deal so there was no problem. If your main reason to visit Rio is for sex you will find it and every kind of guy in 117 and in abundance ! Don’t be shy ask for what you want and they will let you know if it’s possible, they don’t mind it’s their job. I stay 4 minutes walk away in a reasonable hotel called the Diamaond and you can have visitors for R50 for the night but always be careful who you invite but they do have to register at reception so there is some safety net not that I’ve had a problem. Grindr is also hot but had a let down when a not so hot guy arrived with not such a big cock, must have been using his brothers pictures lol. I have another month in Brazil and I’m exhausted already. happy hunting guys1 point

Hi all! So I’m planning my first trip to Brazil and I need some advise! I’m torn between going to Salvador or Rio, personally I prefer darker skinned men and I was told Salvador is the place where the beautiful black men reside. But I’m also looking to find one guy to be my main, he will stay with me the majority of the trip and will connect me with other guys and girls when I don’t want to go to the sauna. Are the guys in Salvador more trust worthy than the guys in Rio? I’m also trying to find some women to have some Bi action with, are the women in Salvador as beautiful as the women in Rio? How much do you budget for a day of debauchery and food? And lastly I found a flight with GOL airline for $800 round trip where as delta starts at around $2500. Is GOL a good low budget airline or will I regret every moment of flying with them?1 point

Paying Garatos in Rio

I met a few who have asked me to give them a few US dollars, just out of curiosity. However, it was never in lieu of payment in Brazilian reais. When requested, I would give a $1 or $5 bill for their collection.1 point -
I think number 3 above is theoretical. I just cannot think of a garoto de programa collecting world currencies.1 point

I have a weakness for that look as well. Therefore, I have tricked with many of the few (as mentioned viz prevalence) in Rio but most would not, IMHO, be the greatest candidates for BFE/guide. Bruno Black advertises SP, visits Rio, and was once rated well here. Netgay.com.br or Garotocomlocal.com.br Cute as hell? You judge. There is a sweet sexy young fellow in Rio, you might see him at 117 or 202. Modern, stylized, tats, some metal, sometimes shock-dyes his cropped nappy hair blonde. He seems to hang with the Niteroi/SãoGonçalo contingent. Sorry, I cannot release his contact info. I only current know his Insta. Unlike Bruno, he has not put himself out there in the public domain. He is buds with a few other guys within forum members' narratives.1 point

Planning My First Trip to Brazil!
mvan1 reacted to SolaceSoul for a topic
Kev, regarding a boyfriend experience / tour guide, whether in Salvador or Rio, if you have the money, you can find a garoto at the saunas with the time. Regarding the nappy Afro look, there are a few at the saunas like that in Rio, but not many. Actually, even at the Salvador saunas, that look isn’t exactly plentiful. But in statistical terms, maybe 10-15% of the garotos in Rio saunas are darker with kinkier hair, with another 50% in the moreno / brown / mixed category and the rest white / Caucasian in appearance. In Salvador, I estimate the numbers are: 30-35% darker / black, 50-60% moreno/ mixed, and 5% (at the most) white.1 point -

Planning My First Trip to Brazil!
Kevie770 reacted to SolaceSoul for a topic
The answers to all of your questions are all opinion, so YMMV, but as someone whose first-ever trip to Brazil was Salvador, followed a year later by Rio and São Paulo, here goes my .02: 1. There are definitely more darker-skinned men and women in Salvador da Bahia PER CAPITA than in Rio. However, Rio is bigger and not nearly as laid-back as Salvador. IMHO, as a first-timer, you are going to have to work a lot harder for sex in Salvador than you would in Rio. Are they more beautiful in Bahia than in Rio? That may depend on your personal tastes. In general, Rio tends to be more body-conscious than anywhere else in South America, so you will find more built or muscled men and women who look like fitness models or who have had really good work done. Salvador da Bahia men and women tend to have more natural builds, and you might see a much greater concentration of natural hair styles with kinky hair, dreads, Afros, etc. 2. Looking for one guy to connect you to men and women? If you’re looking for someone “pimpy” like a Manny/Freddy/Francisco in the DR, but In Salvador (or Rio), I can’t really think of anyone similar that is truly open with that (I’ve been going to Salvador since 2009), but once you get there and hang out on the Praia Porto da Barra beach sidewalk, trust me — someone (women more than men — I know this because I’ve had to shoo many a beautiful brasileira baiana away!) will approach a new male tourist. The guys that work the beach barracas (who get you umbrellas, chairs, drinks) also know what’s up too (of course, don’t ask them this immediately, use their services and have them get comfortable with and more trusting of you before you spring it on them). Also, the outdoor cafe across from the beach, especially on Sunday afternoons, used to be a great meet and greet spot, and the older Brazilian man that owned and ran it was good for connections, but now that it has new Chinese ownership, this has died down significantly. Also, the Pelhourinho district is filled with hoes. It also has a well-deserved reputation for drugs and drug addiction, so there’s that. 3. Whether men in Salvador are more “trustworthy” than in Rio seems like an odd question. If you’re referring to crime, statistically, Salvador is more dangerous. Individually, just like anywhere, people are the same, good and bad. I can tell you that, personally, the worst theft experience I ever had in Brazil was in Rio — and that was something I should have avoided — and the only thing I have had stolen from me in Salvador was some sunscreen and tanning lotion off my beach table when I was napping — again, something I could’ve avoided. That being said, particularly as a first timer traveling alone, letting your guard completely down is inadvisable. There’s also less job opportunity in Salvador than in Rio, and fewer educational opportunities, and the Northest is just plain poorer and less developed — so with that comes greater risk for crime — petty or otherwise. 4. GOL is not nearly as fancy schmancy as Delta, but it will get you there safely. My opinion is if you’re a budget traveler, it’s worth the savings. Some people are more aviation snobs — I don’t subscribe to that as much. My next flight to Salvador will be on LATAM using a similarly priced ticket — nonstop. tl:dr — For first-time Brazilian sex tourist seeking darker men and women, Rio might be a wiser option than Salvador. But Salvador, with its slower, more laidback pace and African-influenced culture and views, is a nice diversionary trip, though maybe a bit harder to procure sex for newcomers unfamiliar with the language or the lay of the land. Enjoy.1 point -

He might be counting the transport, lost of other customers, and inconveniences to travel into that 8k. Or simply he quoted a high rate coz he dont want to travel unless it is for that much. By right, if u cover travel expenses, and 3 hours of travel time, that is more than generous to me. But hey, if u really feel u want him even for 8k, and the boy really think he can earn that much minus the transport fee if he stays in pattaya, go for 8k. Or find a different boy or go to pattaya hehe.1 point

You are assuming that your flight will arrive on time. Having frequently arrived close to that hour, I would not bet the bank on it. Lots of arriving aircraft and often delays prior to landing. That usually uses the East gates but I have frequently seen Thai aircraft at the west, especially if it is an A380. There is no Thai dedicated terminal. About 3 gates are pretty near Immigration but Thai does not use them. If you really want to get to Screwboys, book the fast track service. If you happen to be over 70 or are travelling biz class, you will have automatic access to fast track with no need to pay. But that will not help much with the transfer to the city. With lots of arrivals the chances are you will have to wait at least 20 minutes for a taxi.1 point
-
3000 long time is very generous for Pattaya but depending on guy's quality not unheard of. If he comes and returns by taxi it will be an additional 2000-2500 , it leaves 2500 premium for inconvenience of travelling and stress of being in unfamiliar city. Offer him 6000 and if he rejects move on or go to Pattaya yourself to see him there, that's my opinion1 point

Yes, he did. I wonder whatever happened to him. I took him on trips outside of Brazil. I spent too much money on him but that is okay. I had a good time. I met his wife and child. They did not seem to care that he spent nights away from them with a male. I was too dumb to realize what a negative effect his being away at night must have had on his marriage and child. I was new to Brazil. He was always late coming over. Eventually, I got tired of him keeping me waiting an hour or two or more for him to show up. In those days there were more saunas in Rio. We had Rogers, Pointe 202, Estacao, Spa 73 and of course 117. After I stopped waiting at the hotel for him to appear hours later than he said he would show, I found it more rewarding to meet different guys in those others saunas. He was a nice guy and I am glad I knew him. I never see him in any sauna or on the streets. That was fifteen years ago. Maybe the saunas do not work for him anymore. I hope he is okay.1 point

Alright, alright. Bottem line is: you invite guys back to your place as well, but common sense (and smart safety precautions) is necessary. It reminds me of the ‘security level’ I imply when I play in Havana or Colombia. Keep your wits about, avoid dodgy guys, ask ID as leverage, don’t carry valuables etc. In the sauna I’ll take my time and make clear expectations before taking a guy Thanks for your insights; I’m ready to break the Brazilian ice! Just an update after the trip, went to The Prime after calling to book for the next day. Easy, no waiting time and masseur seemed a little stern but skill was great. felt totally relaxed though the walls did not go all the way up so I could hear the next door customer snoring half way through. common shower on my floor. The next day I went back again and chose another masseur, different technique but similar greatness, this time with ensuite shower. Masseur seemed a little more relaxed than yesterday's one and smiled/chatted a little more.1 point -

This scam is also extremely common in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic — often with actual police involved in the scam. Most reputable tour guides for sex travelers (seeking men or women) dutifully warn upfront about engaging with anyone that even looks close to the age of 18. The slicker scammers will get what could be an innocent photo of the tourist seemingly engaged with the underaged boy or girl (like sitting on his lap on the patio of a restaurant) to bolster their claims. I have also heard of this occurring on beaches popular with tourists / sex tourists. Cuba is also a place where you’d want to check everyone’s ID —- by law everyone must carry one, anyway. It’s so common in Latin and South America that I just assumed that this crime of opportunity is also used in other hot spots there, including but not limited to Brazil. Although I have never witnessed or encountered it, that could be because I have no attraction to anything that looks barely legal and therefore, wouldn’t engage anyway. Nonetheless, it’s probably a good idea to check the ID if there is any doubt whatsoever. Hotels (if you use them) and some apartment building front desks will usually require IDs from visitors, anyway. Side note, and not to scare anyone (ok, maybe just a little): anyone planning on photographing or videotaping anyone in a sex act or with exposed genitalia (which could be loosely defined as “pornography”), by USA law, MUST not only check IDs, but maintain proof of that ID in easily accessible records at all time. The laws could be similarly strict or even stricter in other countries. As soon as you hit US soil with the file of those videos or photos (or you upload them to a US-based site — like Xtube), that law applies. 18 USC 2257. So... have fun, but watch yourselves.1 point -
Presumably the ID also shows their date of birth? And if you’re interested in a young man, it’s great to be certain that he is of legal age. I can’t speak to Rio/Brazil but it was definitely a problem in Buenos Aires/Argentina where under-age guys pretend to be legal in order to meet rich men. It happened to me 2x and only by checking their ID first did I keep things ‘above-board’. I was told by an Argentine lawyer that it was a regular scam at Retiro station bathrooms where families used their attractive teenagers to lure adult men into an encounter. The idea was not to earn some small sum of cash but to blackmail the adult men by threatening to report them to the Police.1 point

So much that is wrong with everything you say in this post . The stubbornness not to look at your opinions and wonder if it is you that see RED when the rest of us see Green. You bring up Autism ( self diagnosed) only after you are attacked by myself and others for your statements that actually mimic the Ku Klux Klan. You talk about your 5 years of traveling in Thailand like it makes you an expert. I have been traveling in Thailand for 34 years as well as much of the rest of the world. You go to small towns where of course the education system is likely to be more basic and then base your biased opinions on what you see there . You avoid BKK because the boys you seek for Sex are more expensive and in many cases more likely to see you for the racist that you are. You have no idea about educated Thais because you avoid them like the plague. You are afraid you might meet a Thai who is far smarter then you and more educated and then would not fit in with your opinion of Thai people I believe your home country which I think is Germany has a sad history of Bigotry . Yet I who have travelled extensively in Germany have never thought to attack Germans as lacking in intelligence because they were so easily led by a MadMan. But of course I realize I am wasting my breath trying to argue with you about your opinions of Thai people because you need to feel superior to the people you interact with and in your mind that is easier in the countryside villages of Thailand.1 point

The guys I’ve met in bars, clubs and massage shops never came across as victims of arrested development. Regardless of whether they’re fromThailand or the surrounding countries, they’ve managed to make the best of whatever education they had. More so, they show themselves frequently to be very quick studies. You have to have initiative and some strong resolve to leave your family behind and strike out on your own in the big city. No, not all fare well but that’s no different wherever in the world you come from. I’ve come to respect a lot of these guys. i don’t shop on line but I suspect there’s little difference.1 point

Well, my counterpoint to the preceding strong reviews is less enthusiastic. On my recent visit, the masseur was nice enough, but lacked skill, and wasted little time angling for a “special “ service. It just felt like a typical hustle. No music playing, and the (admittedly handsome) guy at the front desk oozed indifference. So, once was enough I know it’s a crap shoot with most of these places, but if they want to deliver a consistent experience then they have work to do. Hope your visit is better!1 point

I tend to think that indeed Brazilian guys are better looking than PR guys. Some guys are stunning also eg the SX bartenders Yol and Che. But when there are 10 to 12 gogo boys in SX in PR, there are 30 to 40 boys in a sauna in Rio. On a statistical standpoint, you are more likely to find boys whom you like facially in Brazilian saunas than in PR. However there are many good looking latino boys in PR. Dickwise, it is hard to compare since most of the gogoboys do not have an erection. PR boys seem to be less endowed than Brazilians. Yol was exception : even though he was caucasian, he was as big as big Brazilians. I could check in depth his big sausage.1 point

My experience is rather the opposite. Two recent cases: Boy from Nakon Sawan is in Bangkok and lives 3 km away from. He wants to meet, but after 2 months in Bangkok doesn't know how to get around. I send him detailed instructions (it's a straight ride by bus): "I don't know. Can yo come here?" Another one lives on the purple line MRT, but has never taken MRT! He wants to meet, but "I don't know. Can you come here and pick me up?" NO I WONT! That level of stupdity/idiocy/unwillingness to learn is huge turn-off for me. After reading such bullshit, my interest in that boy is gone for the day (but depending on boy and circumstances, I will try another day and if I can combine it with other activities, or are horny, might go to pick him up).-1 points
