The ‘gayborhood’ in San Juan is on the other side of the highway from the traditional tourist areas of Condado and Ocean Park. Its an easy 10-15 minute walk from most hotels to the three main clusters of bars, discos and bathhouse located in the Santurce Arts & Culture District. Gay Bars in San Juan’s Condado Tourist Area: Although Condado used to be the center of all gay nightlife, over-gentrification has left the traditional tourist strip with only one remaining gay bar. But don’t worry – its a short walk under the highway to the Santurce Arts District where all the action continues just a 10 minute walk from Condado hotels. #11. Oasis (formerly Splash) – 6 Ave Condado across from the Marriott, next to Sandy Beach Hotel. Monday night is very popular with lots of strippers, low lights and much too much artificial smoke/fog/yuck… Look for Walgreens and CVS and walk toward the beach. Open afternoons til night. Neighborhood bar and tapas restaurant just a few steps to the beach. Atlantic Beach Hotel/Oceano Restaurant Beach – Also check out the beach in front of Atlantic Beach Hotel and Oceano Restaurantwhich is still very gay most days. Two blocks from Oasis (formerly Splash) if walking on the beach. Look for Calle Vendig if arriving via Ashford Avenue. The Atlantic Beach Hotel is listed in many gay guides – but call them and ask if you will be allowed to bring a friend up to your room – in the past, travelers have reported a strict ‘no visitors’ policy. Street Cruising – Lots of gay guys and gals live in Condado – so cruise along Ashford Avenue any time of day or night! Gay Bars and Clubs in Santurce Arts District: If you are at any of the Condado hotels – you can get to the Santurce Arts District by just crossing over or under the highway. There are three clusters of gay bars in the Santurce Arts District: Stop 18 at R.H. Todd Ave & Ponce de Leon Ave near the Metro Theater and Museum of Contemporary Art. Stop 22 is further down Ponce de Leon Ave at the intersection of De Diego Ave near the Fine Arts Center & Puerto Rico Museum of Art. Stop 24 is another 7-10 minute walk near the the intersection of Ponce de Leon and Calle Bolivar or Calle San Jorge. You can easily walk between each of the areas in about 10 minutes or grab a taxi. Note: ‘Stops’ or ‘Paradas’ are how locals estimate location along Ponce de Leon Avenue in the Arts District. This is a remnant from the old trolley system which hasn’t run since the 1940’s. There are no signs with the numbers (even at the bus stops) but all locals and taxi drivers will understand the general location from the ‘stop’ or ‘parada’ number. Santurce: Stop 18 Gay Bars – across the highway from Condado near Metro Theater & Museum of Contemporary Art. These are on Calle Condado (mislabeled Avenida Condado on the street sign) which is one block to the right if you are facing the Museum of Contemporary Art. The street has abandoned buildings and looks very seedy – but is generally safe. If someone approaches you just say ‘No Thanks’ and move on, just like you would in NYC. There are also a few straight bars on the block, so be careful and don’t assume everyone is gay – use your ‘gaydar’ and be respectful. If taking a taxi – just tell them ‘Stop 18’ and then go one block to the bars. #6. SX – 1204 Ave Ponce de Leon – Late night strippers and dance every night. Find the stainless steel door (usually with a doorman) and then go downstairs. There is a straight bar just next door at street level, so don’t get confused. Hot bartenders, strippers, loud music, dance floor in the front. Go upstairs at the back and then downstairs to find the darker, less noisy ‘hang-out’ area. #7. VIP – 613 Calle Condado – Very popular with the young Reggaetón and hip-hop crowd. Starts late and stays open after the other bars have closed. Same building as Scandalo but closer to Ponce de Leon. #8. Scandalo – 613 Calle Condado – late night strippers and more. #9. El Chinchorro de ‘W’ – Calle Condado on the block before Circo. New gay bar and snacks with great Happy Hour prices. Very popular late night! #10. Circo – 650 Calle Condado – Multi-level video bar and disco. Mansion Lounge – this is a straight bar in the middle of all the gay action on Calle Condado.KRASH Disco – 1257 Ave Ponce de Leon (next to Metro Cinema). Closed permanently for several years, but is still in many guides – so we’ve listed it for reference only Santurce: Stop 22 Gay Bars: Across the highway between the Fine Arts Center & Puerto Rico Museum of Art. Somtum Der on Sala Daeng is good for hard-core Isaan food. Can be very hot/spicy. Even Isaan people like the food. Papaya right behind Silom Complex is good (maybe not great) and not expensive. A lot of locals and expats/tourists. It's got a very relaxed vibe. Feels more like it should be by a beach somewhere. If you're willing to go street food there's a good busy collection of street food joints along Pluk Chit 1 just off Rama IV. Always busy with a good dinner crowd. (No shortage of good street food spots all over, just that there's a lot of choices here all right next to each other and the soi itself has traffic and exhaust than Suriwong....). Also convenient after massage at any of the City Court shops.

Manhatten Rios after next Monday is going back to being a straight sauna and in turn is taking over the newer facilities of a Straight sauna and that will be gay! Straight saunas are usually smaller in the common areas like the bar show areas then Gay saunas and this was very true with MR! The guy who recently built out a new sauna in Centro saw this and made a proposition that they exchange facilities and go in partnership running a gay and straight sauna! i was just sent a video of the new place and it looks good, although at this point all the walls are white, no decor yet! It appears to be four floors with the suites(all with glass in showers)on the 2nd and 3rd floors, the boys locker rooms on the 4th(maybe 5th i lost count)floor! it is scheduled to open for business next week. Hey, I have seen many recomendations that the best way to enjoy Medellin with it’s handsome boys is to contact them previously by Chaturbate , and agree something with them. Well I am going to Colombia for the second time in 2 weeks , again it is a business trip, but this time I will take some days free to enjoy the city. Aspiring actors are a dime a dozen. Please name me one working actor who began his career hustling on 42nd Street. About a decade before the High Line was built, Diane von Furstenberg and Jeffrey Kalinsky brought high-end fashion stores to the Meatpacking District. Those acquisitions sealed the fate of the neighborhood long before anyone thought of the High Line.

Not just thai, its an ego thing amongst the riches, and because they are financially stable, and probably dont work hard for those money (be it corruption, inheritance, fortunes gain from being in power, monopoly etc) they can afford to be stubborn. Lowering the rent shows they are desperate for money and could shows to their close community that you are having trouble. The soi twilight impending demise could be the case too. Maybe gentrification is to be blamed too? High rent brings "better" well to do renter?

In my experience this is Typical Thai Mentality. Would rather have the place empty then accept what the market deems a reasonable rent. Have experienced this multiple times in looking at apartments . Never could quite figure out why an educated person and probably financially stable would allow any kind of property to sit vacant for months rather then adjust the price in order to get a guaranteed revenue stream. Defies logic but then again it even appears to to have infected certain boys in certain bars. They would rather go back to their apartment with no baht rather then accept a reasonable offer even at the end of the night. And it will probably never make any sense to me!

In my experience, has never been easy to forecast Lagoa's best days. It always super good or empty.

For the ever-so-slightly adventurous, a visit to the Klong Toey "slums" is a fascinating experience. There is a delightful cooking school in the slums, which is how i got there. Highly recommended and the school benefits the Klong Toey community in many way. The school is charmingly called Cooking With Poo. CookingWithPoo Like all Bangkok neighborhoods, I think it safe, but it is very confusing and even with GPS and google maps I probably wouldn't venture very deep there unaccompanied. But the couple times I have been there I thought everyone was the usual nice and polite people we would all expect. Somewhere in the midst of it all is a tiny sports field that takes clever advantage of a unique footprint and one some design awards. I do want to get to see that at some point.

I still not lose hope though, he is a handsome hunk that i really like lol. Maybe if i come again not during peak season, he would be more willing lol. If i saw him on my first night in thailand, id probably caved lol. The copa masseur is definitely a gem lol, and i didnt feel his service level affected at all by the discount. Eagerness for boy to seek business from you definitely plays part in my decision making.

First time posting here. I have been on this site for a while, reading up on the information shared by all the members. That information has been invaluable on deciding what to do and which clubs to visit in Pattaya and Bangkok. I will share my experiences at a later date. I am presently in Bangkok, after visiting Pattaya for few days. I was also at Moonlight last night. Jasper has already shared the details on last night's show. I am glad that I read the forum reports before I went to the club and knew about Nicky. After his performance, he came to my seat and he made some small talk, but I mostly ignored him as he's not my type. Too muscular for my liking. He asked if I would buy him a drink and I politely declined. He left to look for other customers. I talked to the mamasan about type of boys I like and he suggested some. I sat with a guy I liked and offed him. Again based on all the information shared here, I knew what to expect in terms of tips for the guy. Once again, amazing information being shared here on this forum and I will share my experiences of the full trip at a later date

It's time... When I wake up it's mid-morning (10am-ish) and it's my last day. I make some tea and start sorting through my receipts, then checking email. Van wakes shortly afterwards and from the comfort of the bed watches me pack. This is a fairly easy pack as my only purchases were some shirts in Pattaya and some more in Bangkok. I leave room for some workout shirts from a vendor on Silom near Nakarat. I've been bargaining for two nights now as I walk by. The price last night was acceptable but I didn't wanl to carry anything. I talk with Van about today. He is off - actually, I'm offing him. He tells me how much to give him, which is less than if I went into the club and paid the fee. I ask if there's anything he'd like to do and get the programmed "it's up to you". I suggest we go out in a couple of hours and ask him to trust me. I shave and get into the shower, he joins me. It's a gentle way to begin to say goodbye. Around two we head out and walk to Sathorn...Van is surprised as we haven't walked this way before. He asks if we are going to the BTS and I answer "yes, but, no". I'm using he station walkways to cross over the traffic. Once across, we are at the MahaNakhon plaza...the King Power Tower plaza. Last night, Reader and I speculated on what it would be like to bring some of the guys we like up to the rooftop...speculation inspired by DivineMadman's doing just that. The answer to the speculation - surprise, joy, excitement, amazement...we did go out on the glass floor once the blue booties had been attached to out feet. It was no where near as crowded as the night before. Yes, it was hot under the mid day sun but it had it's own charms. We stayed somewhat more than an hour and then did the trip through the multi-level duty free shopping. We walked back via Silom to the hotel where we hung out. Around 6:30 we headed over to Twilight so that Van could pay his off fee. This gave me an opportunity to say good bye to Pau and the other waiters at Maxi's. The Asian gentleman with a fondness for the massage staff across from Maxi's was already in place , tonight with 4 of the guys. Good for him, good for them, and great business for Maxi's. Everyone wins! Van and I have a drink (he has lemon tea) at Maxi's. I leave goodly tips for the waiters and the bartender, give a 100 baht to the Hot Male grabbers - and we head out. I pick up the workout shirts from the street vendor, I mentioned. Back at the hotel, I finish packing, giving all the remaining toiletries to Van, I give him some baht for his time. The baht are in an envelope. He doesn't open it, just puts it in his wallet and that goes into his backpack. It's now about midnight and time to go to the airport. When I booked my ticket, I was most interested in when I'd arrive so I could get to Pattaya in time for some interpersonal interaction (!) and as to a return, I need to be back on Saturday, December 1st. My return isn't through Tokyo - my usual routing, but via Hong Kong and Hong Kong Airlines from BKK to HK. It's always a mess at the Hong Kong Kong Airlines checkin...so in addition to the flight being earlier than ANA, I do need extra time...sort of a long explanation for why I'm heading out from the city as the clock strikes 12. Saying goodbye..we've done this a dozen times, but, this time is a bit more difficult... Van waves goodbye as the taxi pulls out and passes him. I make the airport, long wait to check in...Hong Kong Airlines is not a Star Alliance partner so no priority line. Bags checked through to San Francisco. Security and Immigrations go quickly, I board the plane, and fall asleep before boarding is complete, and wake up when the plane touches down in Hong Kong. Good thing I slept then as my United flight to California was 100% full and I slept very little. While in Hong Kong, I "Lined" to Max, Sophy, and Nuguyen and chatted with each. Van and I use We Chat and he had messaged me while was asleep on the plane. Clearly, I'm struggling with saying goodbye to so many good guys. (that may also be why this report has taken so long to publish). Home...and six weeks later I'm still thinking about the trip, the highs, the lows, the guys stay in touch, Max changing his screen name every week (Max, Maximum, Maxx...!), Van still working to pay off his debts, etc. etc. Me...I'm reading Spoon's report which is incredibly good and reminding me that I should be beginning to plan another visit to the Land of Smiles Thanks for reading, commenting, pm-ing, and all that sort of thing.

All true. Las Vegas club seems still the place to be. Actually you really don't need to worry about this. Lots of cute boys would reach out to talk to you. The first time I went there two years ago, the harassment started already in the cab which drove me from the airport. Just be nice and choose a decent one, then let him show you his Havana. Among all great stuff I did on my previous trips, FAC and Callejon Jaime are highlights.
