  1. Looks like that other site is firmly under the control of a power hungry clique that enables racism and misogyny.... So, boytoy.... here I am on my first real visit, and happy to be here. Since I have been elsewhere banned, I promise to be on my best behavior here. Just say "hey" if you either remember me or want to get to know me.

    Time To Forgive JFK?

JFK looks like a giant compared to the current president, but even he wasn't adverse to grabbing pussy when he could. His multiple affairs, including with a Mafia broad, were often conducted right under Jackie's nose. Kennedy kept his Addison's disease secret, as well as his use of drugs to keep his energy up...or more. I was alive when he was elected, and when he was assassinated. The youthful belief I had in him caused me to be crushed when, 55 years ago today, he died. LBJ was no JFK! Over the years, more has come out about Kennedy to tarnish the image. But I do believe he accomplished some things, (We didn't get blown up over Cuba.) and there is no doubt that he inspired many people. The Peace Corps continues today to help the poor. So can we forgive his indiscretions? If he was alive now, the Me/Too movement would castigate him. I would not.

  3. Appreciate the insight.... we Northeasterners miss out on a lot of the details of the peculiarities of some regional political intrigue(s) - but the current hoopla that Ms. Hyde-Smith has generated is certainly a bit of a headline grabber, wouldn't you say? My other comments about the other Board's gestapo tactics (in the streets of Chicago? a nod to a local Connecticut Senator's words during the 1968 Democratic Party convention!) hold true....

    My Brilliant Friend (HBO)

Italian production based on Elena Ferrante's remarkable quadrilogy. I devoured it (and an earlier novel) recently. The fiction series spans a half century. The young Italian leads playing latency-age Raffaella "Lila" and Elena "Lenu" are spellbinding. I would love to have been at the casting call. All the actors of all ages are excellent. The violence early '50s Naples is disturbing yet believable. Best TV this year.

  5. Just for the record, Chris McDaniel was the Klucker race baiter and fire breather in the MS senate race. Because of the peculiarities of MS's election law, there were 2 Republicans and one Democrat running for the office. He got about 1/3 of the Republican vote. Losing that Senate seat in Alabama seems to have put a damper on the raw meat and red blood tendencies of deep South Republicans. Hyde-Smith (the candidate you reference in your last post) is actually a country club type representing business interests. In fact she was a Democrat until fairly recently and came under fire from McDaniel for admitting she voted for Obama back before she saw the light and came to Jesus. Right now she's tacking right to make sure McDaniel's people don't sit on their hands in the run off and elect Espy (the Democrat). I can't speak for elsewhere but in MS politics, what you see taint necessarily what you get. It's a real zoo around here sometimes.

  8. It seems as though Forum Nazi Guy Fawkes announced his support for bringing back public executions... I may finally uncover the actual reason for my being banned - it came soon after I brought to light the actions of the Mississippi candidate for Senate - you know, the one who wanted a front-row seat at a public hanging.... from that State where such things were all too common all too recently. Avalon jumped on the right wing racist bandwagon and said "me too"... seems as though the reactionary management clique there agrees.... Whatever excuse was made up for my banning, it is obvious that I was expelled for my left wing politics.

    Traffic in Rio

What is going on with the traffic in Rio? Last year I only had good experiences with the taxis, getting straight to where I wanted in no time, this week has been a disaster, spending hours (in total) stuck in cars. Also drivers don’t seem to know how to avoid the jams, although I can see on my google maps that there are much better routes than the ones they are taking.

    Time To Forgive JFK?

It is somewhat difficult for a conservative to in retrospect judge JFK in a VERY friendly manner. However, I agree that his affairs were consensual to include the media in SILENT agreement. Not likely today. However, it seems difficult to decide if the Cuban missile crises was a high point. Of course the US and the Soviet Union avoided nuclear conflict ( a good thing) but JFK gave up (secretly) other things to Nikita to insure the stand down. Naturally with international conflicts it is difficult for one side to completely dominate the other, probably a good thing also. Yes, I was alive during the JFK presidency and Camelot. I was thrilled and entranced with it all. Now, not so much. Best regards, RA1

    Client Murdered...?

Several years ago, I was at Clube 117 on a typical night with lots of clients and garotos. There was a friendly client there that I knew from the saunas and from occasional lunch meetings away from the saunas. He was originally from France. He had moved to Rio and had an apartment. The last time I saw the Frenchmen was at Clube 117. He was doing ordinary things people do at saunas and we were chatting about trivial things. After a while, a garoto I had never seen before, approached us and said hello. The garoto was not interesting to me but the Frenchman liked him. I stayed a minute talking with the two but excused myself after I realized the Frenchman wanted to get together with the garoto. A few minutes later, I saw the two go toward the front desk and I assumed they were going for a key to a room. Instead, the Frenchman and the garoto left the sauna together. I thought nothing of the Frenchman choosing to go off premises with a new garoto rather than stay at the sauna to get together. The Frenchman was quite familiar with Brazil and with meeting garotos. The next day, I did not see the Frenchman at the usual pro kilo place where he and I planned to have lunch. However, the next evening, when I went to Clube 117, I heard that the Frenchman had been strangled to death in his apartment. To my further surprise, there were two Brazilian policemen at the sauna and had asked to talk with me and with a couple of other Americans because various garotos said that the Frenchman and we had been talking just before the Frenchman left the sauna with a garoto. We were asked to look through many photos that were stored at the front desk of the sauna. The photos were copies of identification cards of garotos who were required to furnish their identification in order to work at the sauna. Sure enough, the photo of the garoto who left with the Frenchman was among the photos. The policemen thanked us and that was all I knew about the incident. We all agreed the photo was the correct person who left the sauna with the Frenchman. The police did not seem very interested because the only thing they knew about us was our first name (when you check in at the sauna they ask only for your first name) and that we were foreigners. I don’t know if the garoto was ever found or if the killing was ever solved. I later learned the only reason for police involvement was because the murdered man was not Brazilian. I was told that killings of gays is common in Brazil and does not even warrant a news report or investigation unless the gay is a foreigner. Not a pretty picture, by any means.

  21. Regardless of Trump the US electorate seems happiest with the legislative and executive branches being held by different parties. That was as predictable as the sun coming up in the east. I don't think it much matters as Washington does little of use anyway. Best regards, RA1

  23. Grabbing it and fucking it are two different things. For the life of me, I don't get anyone who is gay being a supporter of Trump unless money is their only issue and they believe his agenda will help them keep a bit more in the end and they can zero about future generations of gays. I know men like this but I don't understand them.
