I never watch video ads. When I see ads, I move on.

As you stated previously, often it is just “the luck of the draw” — even with the best places. At 117 in Rio, Tuesday is supposed to be its best night. However, this past Tuesday did not compare to the previous one, which was better than the one before it, which was not as good as the one before that. It’s almost as if they are making alternate Tuesdays the best nights to attend.

As a marketing person this does not surprise me at all. Facebook told everyone that video ads did better than text ads. Turns out that was a baldface lie. I'm betting Google will go down for this too - cause they've been telling everyone video is better. Earlier this week I reported that my return to Brazil last week was very disappointing because all the different fun places I usually visit had very few clients and garotos. I left each place without meeting garotos. Had last week been my first trip to Brazil, and had I found such sparse activity, I would have been inclined to think that all the wonderful stories I heard and read about Brazil were exaggerated. I commented that I would remain optimistic that Sao Paulo would return to its former marvelous place. This evening, Lagoa, made up for my two disappointing visits last week. There was a tremendous turnout of garotos tonight (Wednesday night). The place had just the right amount of garotos to please all. Two things really affect attendance at the saunas! Weather and Holidays...and Brazil has a Lot of official Holidays! I was told that both affected attendance the past week.

Unfortunately the foreign exchange rate will entirely depend on your American bank (or Argentinian bank), not on the ATM. The withdrawal fee (like the 2 dollars fixed fee that some ATM will charge you just for withdrawing any amount) will exist or not, depending on the relationship between your bank and the ATM owner. For example in Brazil i withdraw for free in Bradesco since it has a relationship with Hsbc which is one of my banks. But if I go anywhere else than Bradesco, they charge me the withdrawal fee. Never been to Salvador, so not sure about the availability of specific ATMs, but google maps are very good at locating them. If you check with your bank in the US, whether they have any special agreement with any Brazilian banks, and then google map for that bank’s ATM, you may be able to figure out what to do. Buying currency at a “cambio” kiosk, either in the US, at the airport, or in a Brazilian city, you should expect to loose about 5% of your money (they use punitive exchange rates bc they have to pay a trustworthy human to handle the transaction, they have to securely store various amounts of banknotes from many countries etc,) Withdrawing from an ATM, you should expect to loose less than 1.5% of your money’s value, because everything is automated. No salaries to pay. And it is a single currency storage, which already exists because the ATM already exists to serve the locals. (if you have a withdrawal fee, always withdraw the maximum amount to lower the impact, a $2 fee on $40 withdrawal is 5 %, but $2 on $500 is only 0.4%). That is how it works for me, others might have had different experiences. Ps: Some US and UK banks have credit cards with no international payment fees too, these can be good value if you can get one, to pay your sauna entrances, restaurants and hotel bills.

Villa Verde is the Gay owned Boutique Hotel(5 spacious elegant guest rooms)in Merida, Mexico that is across the street from one gay bar and 1 block from 2 others! It is owned by a gay American couple, and usually you will only see a couple other guests there. They do a lot of weddings and anniversary parties on the grounds of the hotel! i highly recommend it if you want a private place to stay! the wait staff particularly the bartender and waiters who interchangeably do both jobs in the bar area are awesome! If you are not staying there the bar is a great place to go for cocktail hour before heading out to one of the over 100 restaurants in walking distance!

I'm not sure, but I think bringing someone in for a drink or something to eat isn't a problem.....staying there and bringing back various tricks, don't think they'd appreciate/allow it....is a more upscale place with many couples....is Hetero friendly. For many years I stood. Then I experienced a few male house guests who were pigs. Some from my own family. I felt sorry for my housekeeper. I tend to keep a very clean home. I like luxurious bathrooms the smell of freshly clean. I don't like the stench of dry, stale urine. I'm not a cleaning fanatic, but I've been known to clean the house before the house keeper arrives. Even though she's been employed by me for almost 30 years, I don't feel comfortable with her doing certain things. I have since found that if the males sit when using the toilet, they make much less of a mess. The toilet smells better for longer periods of time. Our building conserves, so we're not allowed toilets with large water tanks. With less water, the toilet bowl requires maintenance to keep it smelling fresh and clean. I don't want to clean the toilets every day, so I now ask male guests to sit when they need to piss. It is amazing how helpful this has been. My housekeeper recently asked me if I ever use my toilets. My new system of sitting is working. I also ask guests to not flush in the middle of the night. My building is older, and the plumbing noise can disturb neighbors who struggle with sleep.

Coming out should be a party, an event wholly worth celebrating. IMO, it's so much more important, gratifying, and life-affirming than losing any friend or family member because that asshole is a homophobic jerk. The world will always have homophobic assholes who wish to do harm to others because they hate their own fear of being gay. But change has mostly crushed those folks, and they will continue to get crushed. I was lucky. In my teenage years, I was surrounded by gay folks. I worked in show business from a young age. In high school, my best friend was out and in a relationship. He found love with another kid his own age. My friend's father was a trucker. His mother was a born-again Christian. He told his parents at a very early age and nothing could affect their love for him. I wanted to believe all coming out stories could be this easy. I was eighteen when I told my parents. My mother was easier than my father, but time took care of the details. Eventually, their love for me grew and grew. They truly enjoyed my gay friends. I think much of their initial concern was centered around whether I could take care of myself. By the age of twenty-five, they had no doubts. The act of coming out is a celebration. It's a commitment to loving yourself. Joy and laughter should be a part of the experience.
