Those who read this forum regularly know that I have a 2nd home in Merida Yucatan, Mexico. I have been asked many times why Merida? what's the gay life like there? Costs to live there? etc? I, like many people had never heard of Merida(it is 90 miles west of Cancun). Florida Rob on this site is a good friend of mine for close to 15 years and he had moved there and opened a restaurant and told me I should visit him. His stories about how all the guys in Merida "are gay or if they aren't they want to be" lol, sounded so over the top that I wanted to go and find out. Merida is the capital of the state of Yucatan and has a population of over !,000,000 It is considered the safest city in Mexico as it is not a route for drugs to the U.S. Unlike Cancun, there has been no killings, robberies assaults of Americans/Canadians. The city has a expat community of approximately 5,000+ Americans and even greater number of Canadians! Canadians seem to have discovered Merida years ago as a 6 month winter get away that was very inexpensive. It is also the number one city for Medical tourism in Mexico. Merida has a International airport(MID) and has direct service from Houston on United, Miami on American and Atlanta on Delta. It is about a 1-1/2 hr flight from either Houston or Miami. Airfare from SoCal to Merida is usually just under $400.r/t The Centro part of Merida has the Historic Homes that are over 100 years to 200 years old. This is the area where most of the foreigners have bought homes as the younger Mexicans would rather move to the new suburbs rather then in the town center where their grandparents lived. Merida is about 20 miles from the beach area which really doesn't have any major hotels...Yet. but a 4 mile long pier was built to accommodate cruise ships. you can still buy individual private homes on the beach for $300,000. The city is dominated by one of the oldest churches in the Americas, built in the 1500's the park in front of the Cathedral is where all the activities take place every night in Merida, with music, dances, food fairs, and a number of hustlers always there. the photo of the guy is one of the strippers at one of the four gay bars, who often swings by in the late afternoon on his way to work to ask if I want to do anything. if I say no not today he goes "ok will check with you tomorrow". He is tall compared to most as he is 6'1", he is from a village about a 100 miles away.

i agree with your age preferences in fact mine is usually under 25! that’s what surprised me about liking this guy more then any i have ever met in Brazil! He is turning 36 and i feel like a 16 yr old girl around him! :-)

i think they are saying they approve of my choice and being complimentary more then anything! Also i think that if they go to the sauna the know the guy has got to be pretty good in bed! :-) But talking about personal preferences bring up a good point! Besides sex, there are many things to see and do in Merida and surrounding Yucatán Penninsula! The whole area is pock marked with “Ceynotes” basically holes in the underlining limestone base which vary in size from swimming pool to large pond size swimming holes! Many have access to them and are places to go swimming and exploring! They form the largest underwater cave system, stretching all the way to Cancun, over 100 miles away. Mayan pyramids - there are over 25 locations with the Mesoamerican Pyramids that are anywhere from one to 3 hours away and many tour companies will pick you up and take you or you can rent a car, For the nature lovers, Along the coast are several large nature preserves with huge flocks of up to 15,000 Flamingos which can be seen most of the year, mammals such as Jaguars, Ocelots and Marguays can be found. Also various species of Monkeys and Parrots. All of these places are easy day trips. Further to the E/SE towards Cancun and Tulum would take 3-1/2 hrs. each way and are better for a several days trip. the last photo is the Cathedral of Merida that sits in the center of Merida and which the large park in front of has numerous activities every night, music, dances and food fairs.

Merida has 4 gay bars/clubs in town and a sauna about a 1/2 hour from the centro, 2 of them are approximately 5 blocks from my house. Grindr is very popular and so far about 70% of the guys i have met on there have been “free” even thou i have in my profile i am looking for business! most have been between 20 to 24 yrs old, although there is one persistent 18 yr old that i am not interested in but he keeps messaging! my last 10 day stay, 9 out of the 12 guys i met up with were free. also even paid hookups last several hours to all night! If you have beer they are happy to spend the entire nights! Paid encounters run $500.Pesos ($25.US) I have had two guys i have seen multiple times not charge after the first time!! they just want to relax and drink beer and have sex! Most of them have jobs so usually they get up at 6:00am to go to work, that is the only hard part, getting up to let them out! but they are back the next night to do it all over! I have not been to the sauna in Merida but Rob has! They have special party nights, there are no escorts but as i have said in Merida that is not a issue! :-)

As usual @Tomcal hits the nail on the head. Roberto of Buenos Aires and I were friends. He knew all the details (as Tri considered him a friend, tho Roberto told me they were not) and he was scathing about what he considered to be the folly on Tri’s part. Even before the break-up, he told me the Brazilian had met a German (IIRC) in Rio; the German was enamoured of him and took him on vacation in Europe. I know of a similar folly. A retired Army officer went on holiday to Rio and came back with a slim young man (some 25-30 years younger). Installed in a comfortable home in Europe and taken care of, the young man indulged in all the desserts, cake and ice-cream he’d never had as a child. It took less than 2 years for the slim young man to turn into a blob, and that killed the retired older man’s desire for him.

Thanks for your response, although I would prefer a clarification coming from the ones asking for info about your boys. I can relate to what you say about not knowing what your type is. I do have a pretty clear type when I am looking at pictures, but it is not necessary the same if we move out of the screen to discuss how chemistry reacts in real face to face situations. Most times I keep my type consistent on age, in general I like them younger than 30. But beyond that it is very often a surprise. Belo Horizonte Really had a great time in Belo Horizonte last weekend. Immediately impressed by the friendliness of the locals during our first time visit to the city. Rented an apartment located in the city centre less than a couple of minutes walk from both Olimpo and 1097 Sauna. Felt safe walking around the immediate area of our apartment, mostly due its central location. Favelas appear to be located outside the city centre so this might have something to do with it as well. An abundance of good restaurants and bars located in short walking distance, all making our time in BH very easy indeed. Olimpo and 1097 are located less than five minutes from each other. The two saunas offer very different yet enjoyable experience. 1097 is rather basic establishment offering good working sauna and steam room, a couple of ground floor lounge areas, friendly bar and upstairs cruising area with several free rooms. These rooms are very basic containing plastic mattress without linnen. Went there early on Sunday evening when the place was chocked full of young brown skinned guys, lots of which were walking around naked with their extended manhood on display. Certainly worth a visit if favela guys are your preference. In complete contrast Olimpo offers luxurious facilities in probably the best appointed sauna we have visited in Brazil. Excellent sauna and steam room, high class suites, lots of cursing areas to explore on both floors of the venue and plenty of places to unwind and relax. Some of locals spend their time playing cards in the lounge area which add to the laid back feel at the sauna, along with most friendly bar staff. A wide variety of good looking guys on offer, certainly of a higher standard than what we saw in Specifico. Was told by a customer that the average price is 70 although one guys did offer his services to us for 50. Visited Olimpo each evening from Thursday to Sunday. As expected Friday and Saturday were the busy nights; not so on Thursday and Sunday, although there were plenty of guys to keep us interested during each visit. Sadly my experience in Colombia has been sauna- and rent boys from Grindr-free. All my experience is with Chaturbate models from Day 1. So I do not have any wisdom to share about these establishments, even if I've been to Colombia so many times now. But I wanted to add here my experience in Santa Marta from last weekend. Santa Marta is a one of the major cities along the Colombian Caribbean coastline. Its way less full of western tourists than the more developed Cartagena, but really popular with locals and Venezuelans so you get a different experience. Some points: 1. It was the Festival of the Sea (Fiesta del Mar) in Santa Marta last weekend, and I was there with 2 of my regular Chaturbate buddies (who are boyfriends in real life and on screen), who met me at the Barranquilla airport, which is a good 2 hours from Santa Marta, but has way more flights to it than the smaller Santa Marta airport, therefore it is cheaper to fly into. We Uber'ed it from the airport to the closest bus station, which was with a company called Berlinas. The ticket to Santa Marta was $5 per person, and it was a comfortable 2-hour ride to the Santa Marta Berlinas station: 2. There are two main destinations for beaches in the Santa Marta area. One is Rodadero beach, which is located south of Santa Marta proper, and its probably the less hectic and more picturesque of the main beaches: 3. The main beach is by the Bahia area in Santa Marta, which is busier but noticed more locals than tourists, which is good for window shopping for local eye candy: 4. Speaking of gay establishments, the only gay club in town is "Voltage" a decent open-air dance club with a runway in the middle of the dance floor. There was a cover on a Saturday night ($4.50), and the music was the usual reggaeton and gay pop music that Colombians love, which was fine by me. My Chaturbate buddies invited the two other Chaturbate best friends along to go with us, after all their escorting duties were over of course (11 PM). The two guys paid for all our covers (it was a lucrative day for one of them), and I offered to pay for the drinks (seems fair). We opted to sit in the "VIP" section which was on an elevated platform overlooking the dance floor, which to me seemed a perfectly comfortable way to spend the night in. We were greeted by the drag queen (trans) in residence, with a waiter in tow, and she explained to us how it worked in the club, and what was in store for us that night. We came at a good night it seems. And our waiter who waited on us the whole night was hot: I paid $55 for a bottle of Buchanan's deluxe and some Coca Colas to wash it down, and surprisingly it was more than enough for the 5 of us for the night: It was a good night because the place was packed, and it was the coronation of Miss Trans Santa Marta that night as well: I'll say that this VIP section was a good idea, because it looked crowded down below with the masses, and up here we had the luxury of sitting in comfy sofas and talk without shouting. It was a good vantage point for the ceremonies as well, with the contestants and judges talking to us while the contest was going on: The main drag queen for the night, Kassidy, sat and drank with us and shot the shit. She was uber cool: Incidentally there was a gaggle of Chaturbate models with their boss in one of the tables that night. Since I already knew the boss I asked our waiter to get them a cheap whiskey bottle on me ($20). I scored brownie points on that one. Will collect on this favor later We left around 4 AM, with festivities still pretty much ongoing when we left. 9. Lots of AirBNB options for the area, and the one I chose had a king bed big enough for me and two chaturbate models. The building we stayed at didn't seem to mind letting the two other models in with the three of us, and all 5 of us were able to enjoy the two rooftop pools in the building. Overall Santa Marta is fun, but I would recommend it only if you are already in Barranquilla looking for a diversion, or visiting Tayrona National Park (fabulous by the way, a must visit). Their go go boys are completely naked and have erection or semi-erection most of the time. BUT, the facial expression is cold and unfriendly, never any smile and they don't even pretend to be happy there on their face. I suppose it's the culture with Mexican gogo boys, you rarely see them smile. And, there is not much interaction between the gogo boys and customers other than occasionally one customer slip a bill into their socks. México City has been great for my sex life and self esteem. I’m tall, 220, ddf, masculine, hairy, green eyes, 44. Not an Adonis by any means. I only used Grindr the times I’ve been there. I usually stay at the Sheraton Maria Isabel. My profile only has detailed stats and my chest picture. I never show face. Grindr has only successful been for me in México City, no where else. Just adding some color to the suggestions here. I find the Mexico City gay bars to be one of the best in the world (at least with what I like in a bar), and there are a shit-ton of gays in the city. And there will be no shortage of (free) hotties who will want to go with you to the bars, and to even the gay strip clubs. I agree that Zona Rosa would be the default place to stay and enjoy the bar scene (and possibly the safest place to be at night), but by no means the only place to spend time in at night. The Centro (downtown) area also has fairly decent and sometimes superior clubs and bars (although less safe), and there are other bars scattered in the Roma Norte and Sur and Polanco areas.I never had any problems staying in hotels near or in Zone Rosa and having a rotating stable of boys visiting me. Too many gringos in my opinion, but nice ambience and eye candy. Dark room is fairly active, if that's your thing. CDMX is one of my fave cities to stay a long weekend at. Pretty dynamic (culturally, ambience, food etc etc etc) and there seemingly are thousands of gays that descend upon the city in the weekend. Overall lots of fun.
