Day 6: Drive to Gramado When I first decided to pick Sao Paulo and Porto Alegre for my next Brazilian vacation, I thought I’d just have a typical run-of-the-mill week-long sex tourist trip. You know, spending every waking moment getting sex however which way you can, which meant just staying in one’s hotel room during the day (to recuperate or to Grindr) and then venturing out to the saunas in the afternoon, and continue on through the night with your chosen boy(s). Lather, rinse repeat, with the occasional trip to the mall to eat. Normally I have one of these mongering weeks when I just want to relax, not think about anything else, and just forget about responsibilities for a moment. I would just let my lizard brain get the best of me, and dictate my everyday goings-on. But shoehorning Marcos into my trip got me excited about touring Sao Paulo, so no pure mongering for me there. And then my Portuguese teacher, who hails from the south of Brazil, got excited about the prospect of me visiting the Rio Grande do Sul state. She spent part of her younger years in Gramado, and was full of helpful advice about the area. She really sold it for me, so I had to get off my ass and plan a full itinerary for myself and Gabriel. I am sure, years from now, when I have grown tired of discovering Brazil, I will be in full mongering mode. But now, exploration calls my name. Even if my tutor has assured me that renting a car and driving from Porto Alegre to Gramado and Canela is very easy and simple, I still had my doubts. I was kind of uneasy with the thought of me driving on Brazilian roads. There are buses that go from PA to the two cities, but not having a car while exploring cities without a developed transportation insfrastructure is kind of a pain and inefficient. So there was no getting around it. I went to Rentalcars.com and looked for a rental car place in downtown PA that was Uberable from the AirBNB. There was this rental car place called Localiza. Good reviews online. Pretty cheap rates to hire cars. I choose a car that was an automatic because I’m American and can't drive a stick. I get a quote for $62.48 for the two days and 8 hours I thought I’d need the car: I decide to decline the additional insurance that the site was recommending to get, and just get the full coverage with the company on the day itself, at the counter. So this morning Gabriel and I *repack* our suitcases to go on a 2 day excursion of Gramado and Canela. I only bring half my clothes; Gabriel brings all of his stuff. Even if we were going to be gone for 2 nights, I rented out the Porto Alegre place for even the nights we will be gone. You never know if we would get bored and just return early. From the Mezzaninu disappointment yesterday, we figured missing out on a Wednesday and Thursday night of sauna time wouldn’t be the end of the world. We will try again Friday. We head out to the street to find some breakfast. We settle on a place called “La Cafeteria” on Avenida Osvaldo Aranha. Pretty nice and chill area. Gabriel orders a sandwich, I order a croissant. We both order a cappunino with chocolate in it. The chocolates bits at the bottom of our coffee made us happy: After food we head back to the apartment, get our suitcases, and get an Uber to Localiza. We get to the rental car place and it was busy. After waiting 10 minutes in line I get to the counter. I gave the counter lady my e-voucher, passport, driver’s license and credit card. She gave me a form to fill out asking for some additional information. Then she asks if I wanted full coverage for the car, which included everything, including loss of the car. I said yes. It was an additional 135 reals, or $37, which was not bad. Overall I was getting a fully insured car for $100 for 2 days and change. I chose a Hyundai 20s, which was fairly easy and comfortable ride. Gabriel does not drive so I had to drive the whole way. I was kind of nervous at first driving the car off the lot, but once I got the hang of it I was ready to hit the freeway. Gabriel put in the address of our hotel on my Google Maps and we were off: The drive itself was pretty straightforward. It was an almost 2 hour journey, and we drove it straight through without stopping. Now this is where knowing a little bit of Portuguese was handy. I had my hands full with driving so I could not use Google Translate. And I didn’t need it. By this time (from talking all night last night) Gabriel was used to talking a certain way so I can understand him fully without me asking him to repeat himself (by speaking slowly and enunciating the words). If there was a word I didn’t understand, I’d just ask “O que <word>?” and Gabriel would either use another word I knew, or would go on Google Translate and tell me the English equivalent. He operated the car radio as well. He put in an English station but I insisted on him putting on whatever he wanted. He found an EDM/Dance pop station that had a mix of Portuguese, Spanish, and English songs, which was perfect. Whenever there was a song I liked, I asked Gabriel to “Shazam” it for me, so I can download the songs on my Spotify. By the end of the drive, my playlist was full of great songs: I picked the Hotel Serra Azul in Gramado as our home for two nights. It was highly recommended by my Portuguese tutor. Indeed, it was in central Gramado, with full amenities, and great staff. I booked it in Agoda.com for 384 reals, or $100 for 2 nights, which was not bad for a supposedly 4 star hotel. Though it looked tired and in need of a refresh, I could tell that this was once a great hotel that had its glory days. It was 25 reals ($7) a day for valet parking, which was also a steal. We get to our room (pretty standard room with a comfortable king bed) and relax for a little bit. After a shower, and then sex (he really wanted me to bottom again, he promised to bottom tonight, we’ll see), we venture out to central Gramado to enjoy this pretty town. Some highlights, all walkable from the hotel: Certain parts of the downtown certainly looks like a small German town: The Museo do Festival de Cinema in Gramado was cool, and had Brazil’s version of the Oscar, Kikito: The prettiest Mcdonalds I’ve ever seen: Praca das Etnias, where Gabriel posed for photos in front of the Italian section (he is ¼ Italian, he says): Other quirky stuff that makes it look like Europe: And the highlight of the walk, 10 reals ($2.75) for a Prawer hot chocolate: It was kind of the perfect drink to have while walking the streets of Gramado. It was colder here than most Brazilian cities. We rested at the hotel again after the walk. And then Gabriel insisted on going to the gym before dinner, he said to work up an appetite. A 45 minute routine, with him giving me tips on my form at the gym, was actually what the doctor ordered. Because what did I say about post-gym sex? It’s great! You’re filled with endorphins, your muscles are all swollen, and your libido is through the roof. I got to top this time. God bless Brazil. So now we really worked up an appetite, we go to another tutor recommended place: the Mammia Mia Galeto restaurant. Galetos are small chickens, cooked to perfection. I asked Gabriel why the chickens were so small. He said they were young chickens, and the meat on them is still tender, that’s why we love to eat them. The food was excellent, and plentiful. Lots of salads, pastas, breads, and of course those little chickens. The food was not cheap, it was $50 for two, but it was worth it. Gabriel could not stop posting photos of the food on his Instragram. Even though we were super hungry we still could not finish everything that was put on our table. And we were sure glad we skipped lunch! And walked around! And went to the gym! And had sex! Sidenote: I have been opening Grindr ever since we got to Gramado. Grindr was active, but not one garoto messaged me. All I got were free boys: As we drove back to the hotel Gabriel wanted us to drive around the town to see what it looked like at night. We spent 30 minute driving in circles, not because we were lost, but because Gabriel decided to have a conversation about his future in the car. He said knew he had to leave the sauna soon. He was growing tired of the work it entailed. He tells me about the “negative energy” the whole sauna scene has, and it just sucks out the life out of one after a while. I gave him some career advice, as much as I could with my limited Portuguese. He seemed to take it to heart, and ended the conversation. I knew it was something he has been thinking about for a long time. He blurts out one last thing about what he felt about it. I could not understand what he said. He took my phone, put it across my face to unlock it (it was an iPhone X), and then typed in Google Translate. He hands me back my phone. We got to the hotel and gave the keys to the valet. I looked at my phone: How topical. He is not a fan of the World Cup I guess. Clearly this was something I had to unwrap with him. I table the discussion for tomorrow. Tonight, we rest. No sauna in Gramado, that’s why I brought the sauna boy with me: Sauna: 1 Laziness: 1 Hot boy tour of the city: 3 Act of god: 13 points

What is your favorite Coffee Machine?
BenjaminNicholas and one other reacted to RockHardNYC for a topic
I'm a total coffee snob. I grind my own beans, per serving. I would never buy beans that are flavored with artificial flavorings. Yuck! My Baratza Burr is a staple appliance on my kitchen counter. I don't drink much coffee, but the coffee I drink and serve in my home has to be superb quality. I won't tolerate anything less. I judge my choices and methods by the number of coffee-snob guests who freely comment on the coffee I serve them. They are not short on opinions. I currently have beans from several countries in Europe, since I was there recently. It's very rare when I don't bring fresh coffee beans home in my luggage. I do not use a machine, even when I'm entertaining guests. I have a unique drip method that was taught to me many years ago by a favorite professional barista, a dear friend in Rome. I do know some folks who claim to be coffee snobs who enjoy Nespresso. I could never do pods. I prefer to control the amount of grind that goes into each cup. Some guests like medium-bodied, while others like full-bodied. Some like smaller cups, while others request 16 ounces. And then there are those who insist on a cappuccino after 11 am. Many native Italians consider that taboo. To each his own.2 points -
When I saw the title of this thread I assumed someone would start with fresh, young, hard beans and use grindr to fix them. Very nice for those with patience. But when I get up in the morning feeling like a 20 year old, I can never find one then. I gave up drinking coffee several years ago. Best regards, RA12 points

Absolutely no difference in Mexico between paid and unpaid sex! Actually 2 started as paid encounters and went to free get togethers! The mexican guys seem much more appreciate to stay and party in my house, rather then go out to clubs! usually there are 6 + of us but we have had 15! i should add there is no rush on any guy i have been with here to leave after a hour! For the paid guys there is no difference in price whether they are there for a hour or all night! $500./pesos. Most stay overnight although for me it’s not great if it’s a week day as they always seem to have to leave around 6:00 am to get home and change before going to work. Interestingly i haven’t met anyone who is unemployed with the exception of the BF of the accountant who is trying to “Upgrade” to a new more successful BF! i am betting that it’s not going to happen!2 points

Very seriously -- speaking as a professional journalist since age 17 -- you must not do that. Ban any contributor, certainly including me, if required. Insert moderator-deadly-banishment admonishments whenever required. Banish whom you wish. But any forum where mods edit contributors' posts then loses all credibility. [You will forgive me the following:] Canto III: The Gate of Hell[edit] Per me si va ne la città dolente, per me si va ne l'etterno dolore, per me si va tra la perduta gente. Giustizia mosse il mio alto fattore: fecemi la divina potestate, la somma sapienza e 'l primo amore. Dinanzi a me non fuor cose create se non etterne, e io etterno duro. Lasciate ogni speranza, voi ch'entrate. Through me you go to the grief wracked city; Through me you go to everlasting pain; Through me you go a pass among lost souls. Justice inspired my exalted Creator: I am a creature of the Holiest Power, of Wisdom in the Highest and of Primal Love. Nothing till I was made was made, only eternal beings. And I endure eternally. Abandon all hope — Ye Who Enter Here Variant translation: 'Through me the way to the suffering city; Through me the everlasting pain; Through me the way that runs among the Lost. Justice urged on my exalted Creator: Divine Power made me, The Supreme Wisdom and the Primal Love. Nothing was made before me but eternal things And I endure eternally. Abandon all hope - You Who Enter Here.' Variant Translation: 'I am the way into the city of woe. I am the way to a forsaken people. I am the way into eternal sorrow. Sacred justice moved my architect. I was raised here by divine omnipotence, primordial love and ultimate intellect. Only those elements time cannot wear are beyond me, and beyond time I stand. Abandon All Hope, Ye Who Enter Here.' Note: Full inscription on the top of the gate. This miserable measure the wretched souls maintain of those who lived without infamy and without praise. Mingled are they with that caitiff choir of the angels, who were not rebels, nor were faithful to God, but were for themselves. The heavens chased them out in order to be not less beautiful, nor doth the depth of Hell receive them, because the damned would have some glory from them. These have no hope of death... mercy and justice disdain them. Let us not speak of them, but do thou look and pass on. ...behind it came so long a train of folk, that I could never have believed death had undone so many. This way a good soul never passes... First a caveat, I am biased in Brazil's favor! I have been going there 4 or 5 times a year since 2001 and will keep visiting until... I bought a 2nd home in Mexico last year after visiting Florida Rob 3 times in 2016(he is one of my oldest friends having met in Rio in 2003) I wanted a place that was closer to SoCal then Brazil, which is a 13-1/2 hr flight vs a 4-1/2 hr flt. to Mexico! He knows my requirements better then I do! First Story, I visited him the first time in Fall 2016 and after I landed I got to his house 15 minutes later, and we immediately went to the bar owned by friend of his(and now one of my good friends and one of the nicest guys I know) on the way to the bar we walked thru the Main Square in front of the Cathedral and we start talking to a guy sitting on the park bench(there were a lot of them occupied by young guys) within 5 minutes he was walking to the bar with us and ended up sleeping with me that night until noon the next day! I immediately knew this was my kind of city! My type of guy encompasses a pretty broad range depending on my mood, but probably 75% of the time it skews to natural toned swimmers build with a leaning to worked out semi musculature...but if he's got a good face then short or tall, thin to muscular I have done them all. While I find that most guys no matter what ethnic type or what nationality have usually average size dicks, Brazil leans towards more larger then average and Mexico leans to smaller then average, although I have found a number of 7.5 - 8" there. but personally since I am a top average size dicks are fine as I find them easier to suck, where huge dicks are fun to look at and hold for a minute or two, but I can't do much with them. If you are more inclined to bottoming there are enough guys in Mexico to keep you happy just not as many as Brazil....IMHO! Looks! this is so dependent on individualism! what I find sexy my friends go Ehh! and vice versa. there are a lot of sexy Mexicans, so I would call that a draw, maybe 55/45 Brazil's favor! If you like Latin looking guys you will find them in Mexico, there are many Latins from other countries living in Mexico now due to problems in their own countries, Venezuela, Cuba, Honduras, etc, the first party I threw in Mexico my realtor brought over 3 guys, one from Cuba one from Venz. and one from Mexico City and I wanted all 3! the Mexican guy was the tallest, whitest and hottest so there are all types in Mexico. I do a lot of 3/4/5 ways in Brazil and there doesn't seem to be any hesitation on Mexican guys part to do the same so another Draw between the 2 countries. Body types! You will definitely not see the number of gym/muscled/steroid bodies in Mexico that you see in Rio or SP, more like Porto Alegre of Belo Horzonte type bodies in Mexico. thin with 6 pac from working construction all day is the most common type here. con't--1 point

If you read my weight loss surgery thread, you know I am working out a bit. Recently, I met this one guy in my gym who is hot and I always smile at him. He is married and his wife is in and out with him all the time. We never talk. But, last week I was in the shower when he came into the shower as well and asked if he could rinse off. I was shocked but said OK. (only one shower in my condo gym). He started washing his body and kept bumping into me. Not a hard thing to do in a small shower. But, he then started jerking off. I was fascinated and just watched. He then thought I was a bottom and his hard dick rubbed against my ass. As an adamant top, I kind of nudged his cock toward my ass. He was more than happy to enter and ended up fucking in the shower. I was happy but sore. Three times I have seen him since and no further instance until today when he knocked at my door. I invited him in and we had some bedroom sex. He likes fucking and getting fucked. He likes oral and eating ass. But, he is not into kissing at all which is a big turn off. However, free sex is free sex. Thailand is fun and sexuality is not the same as America.1 point

One of the great things about forums is that anyone can post. One of the hard things is that it is easy to derail a topic. Keep topics on point and follow the message center policies. If you have not viewed them recently, go to the About Us section of the main site and there is a link at the bottom. The main gist, keep things gentlemanly. https://www.boytoy.com/boytoy-forum-policies I will split topics when they start to veer off topic. I did one with the DeNiro thread and I'll continue to do this. Start a new topic if you want. But, lets keep topics on point or others get bored shitless reading things not related to what they go to the thread to view. Hugs and kisses to all!1 point

With due respect, it's the pods that are gross. Life is short, take a few minutes and brew it. On the occasions that I have coffee at home in the morning, I start with fresh whole beans. There are an infinite variety of flavors, and once you get used to brewing fresh coffee, you will never go back, regardless of the rumors of my now infamous Starbucks latte and lemon loaf.1 point

IMO, it deserved a trash can. Larstrup was "amazed and verklempt" by his own fantasy. I don't pay the bandwidth charges here, so it's not my place to tell someone how to better spend his time and money. This example is a little too anal for me. Oz, I hope you have better things to do with your time. If the subject is "boys," why give the modifier so much importance? I realize that Tomcal might start out interested in the differences between Mexican and Brazilian, but he might end up booking a flight to Thailand once all is said and done. The subject remains boys. I wouldn't bother splitting that thread. The Lastrup example is a more obvious hijack. With just one post, De Niro turned into an attack on me and my supposed preoccupation with Oz's profile. If the board were mine, Larstrup would be put on notice. I see a difference between editing the words of the OP and trying to keep a thread on-topic. That said, I know two very popular sites that have strict rules for posting and moderation. If you break one of their rules in a sentence of your post, the mods will enter your post and delete that sentence. They generally don't give a shit about your feelings. They don't want you breaking their fucking rules. Sometimes, editing offending sentences is the ONLY WAY to keep a board civil, so my thoughts on this are not as strict as Adam's. All posts submitted to the New York Times require editor approval before publishing. Any article submission will be reviewed and edited by one of their editors (with your permission). The most famous internet travel boards do not allow curse words (among many other sensitive topics). Travel boards are open to all ages. If you accidentally swear in your post, a mod will delete that word but usually keep the rest. If you say anything that is racially charged, your post will get deleted. If you attack another member, you lose your membership. Moderation is not an easy job, but it doesn't have to be too anal or get too complicated. No board owner can please everyone. But for the sake of civility and growth, I'm all for some level of smart moderation. Whether you like it or not, it's one of the reasons Daddy's board is currently thriving.1 point -

Happily. First post in this thread says a split happened in the Robert DeNiro political thread about the Tony Awards. Then the topic changed to people viewing profiles of other people. That thread is fully intact, unedited and all post unchanged and is here: If you read the linked topics, nothing in that thread had to do with DeNiro. Even I was part of the conversation. However, it was not about DeNiro and I felt it deserved a thread of its own.1 point

Pt. 2 Grindr is very popular in Mexico, the trip before last when I did not bring anyone with me from Brazil, I did 12 guys off of grindr while I was there and 9 of them were Free. They ranged in age from 19 to 27. In Brazil Grindr is also popular, but I do not get near the number of freebees but to be fair I spend little time on Grindr there, and spend my efforts aimed at the sure thing, the Saunas!! Non Sex Amenities! Both places have many restaurants but food is definitely cheaper in Mexico as well as Drinks! My home in Mexico is in the historic center of town and within 10 blocks are over 100 restaurants! Ipanema as a good selection but not as many as Mexico and dinner and drinks in Mexico is about 1/3 or less then Rio. Photo below is of a restaurant across the road from a "roundabout" with a copy of a Yucatan monument called Plaza de la Bandera that is lite up at night in Blue. #.url1 point

Hot Locker Room Sex
MsGuy reacted to RockHardNYC for a topic
First, congratulations on the "working out." I know from personal experience the profoundly fruitful effect of exercise on the body after weight loss. The positive effects of exercise can't be talked about enough. Thank you for sharing your experience with hot locker room sex. Brought up many fond memories of my own experiences. I've been a gym member for most of my adult years. When I lived a life on-the-road in my early career, I never stayed at a hotel that didn't have some type of gym facility or wasn't affiliated with a great one nearby. Having no desire to compete, if I had the time to share all of my sexual antics in a gym, I could probably write a book. I may do it one day and call it, "SEXCAPADES with RH." Some of the hottest sex I've had were chance encounters that I could never have anticipated. When they happen, I always ask myself, "Am I living in a porn movie?" My most recent encounter was with the D.J. Augustin type. I mentioned it in some thread about pilot photography, and that went over well. Oz, it's a good thing your username isn't RH. The trolls would be going ape-shit, calling you all kinds of names. I have a feeling I'll see the D.J. type again. I'll report back if I do and if something happens again. The most disturbing yet exhilarating experience I've ever had involved a visit to a new doctor. The health care industry in NYC is full of gay men, and what fun it can be when your gay PCP recommends you to a gay specialist, and that specialist is turned on by the sight of you naked. When I have time, I'll come back and write more. Although, my sex-with-a-doctor story doesn't involve any Asian men. I hope that doesn't cause a need for a "split" thread. Does it help that one of my doctors happens to be Asian? He's not part of this story, but maybe the one degree of separation will help avoid a "split."1 point -

Splitting Topics
AdamSmith reacted to RockHardNYC for a topic
I have always supported forums that value "on-topic" discussions. Back in the day, there were a few travel forums that allowed posts to veer off-topic. Those forums were quickly labeled "chat-rooms," and they didn't survive because it turned off users. It's so easy to go off-topic when the subject is travel, but some of those threads became impossible to follow. Derailing a thread for the specific reason of degrading, discrediting, insulting, or attacking another member should be immediate grounds for suspension. That's what I call good moderation. I think what happened to Adam Smith on the other board was an anomaly. And quite possibly there was a personal grudge at play. Admin at the other board often behaved like drag queens. When they were on the rag, they really behaved like women experiencing a terrible menstrual cycle. Knowing what I've come to know about Oz, I seriously don't agree that this thread has anything to do with what happened to AS over there.1 point -

floridarob reacted to mvan1 for a topic
I have traveled to Brazil countless times and to many other places throughout the world. Only in Rio did I personally know a client who was a "regular" at Clube 117 who took a garoto to his hotel was then robbed and killed by the garoto. That happened several years ago in Rio. In addition to that killing, there were several reported instances of garotos giving Americans the drug "good night Cinderella" but you don't hear much of that drug any more. I personally knew one American who had that drug given to him. When he woke (almost two days later) his money and passport were stolen but he was not physically manhandled during the incident. I am not telling about the above instances to scare people into staying away from Brazil. Rather I merely want to encourage visitors to exercise extra caution while in Rio. There is no doubt that crime in Rio is rapidly increasing. The awful economy in Brazil causes people to do mean things simply to survive or help their families survive. Despite the increase in crime in Brazil, I will not stop visiting Brazil as often as I do nor do I have great fear while in Brazil. On occasion I have been foolish by taking chances but nothing bad ever happened to me in Brazil. I seem to have an inner "sixth sense" that keeps me on the safe side of potential danger. I doubt that I will ever forget that person who was murdered merely because he met a handsome garoto at a sauna then decided to take him out of the sauna for more fun. The garoto was caught by the Rio police within days of the murder. The garoto stupidly forgot that all the saunas in Brazil keep a photocopy of identification of all garotos who work in the saunas. The garoto was easily traced back to the client he was seem leaving with from the sauna and whom he later killed. Bottom line, have a wonderful time in Brazil but remember "all that glitters is not gold."1 point -
Have you ever met a truly monogamous man? I keep looking. Where do you find them? When I was in undergraduate school there was another student who was HIV and openly gay and an ActUp activist. I am not sure which I was most afraid of as I knew nothing of HIV or gay life. We were part of the same student group but I would never sit by him or talk to him for fear of being “found out.” I still remember his name, his smile and his scent. But, I have never gotten over the shame of not acknowledging him and have had nightmares about it for 30 years. He died not knowing how much I wanted to talk to him, how many things I wanted to ask him and how much his example meant to me later in life. I was not out yet and very closeted. Religion was a huge factor for me. I prayed each night for God to take away the desires of men. The shame of not talking to this man has carried on for 30 years. @LarstrupThank you for sharing your story as with the sharing of stories, we can all learn and grow. It’s not like São Paulo & Rio are small country towns. Those metropolis are bigger than every European metropolis. São Paulo in particular is more of a capitalist jungle than than any city in Europe. They Throw the biggest gay pride in the world for a reason. They have as much of a “gay scene”. And the overall inequality Brazil is known for could make some even more bitter. i mean, clients are gonna be clients anywhere. But in Brazil, Many garoto have to take a 2 hour bus ride back to a favela. At least in Europe, they get to go back to a decent piso or even luxury hotel room. Wouldnt it make Brazil a worst place for resentment from older Garotos?1 point -
Mezzaninu in PA on Monday and Tuesday?
brockmiller reacted to Lucky for a topic
That hasn't happened yet, and I hope it won't. Last time at Mezzaninu, as tomcal and his gang headed to the upstairs, it made be feel wanting enough that I asked a guy standing at the bar if he was activo. I had seem him all night, muscular guy in a Speedo, handsome, blond, and for some reason not snapped up yet. Since I was attracted to him and wanting sex, when he said "sim!" I asked how much. 100. Okay, let's go! This guy turned out to be one of the best encounters I have had in Brazil. He just couldn't get enough pleasing me. We finished, he had come as had I, and we showered. As we were getting dressed, it didn't take long for both of us to realize that we weren't done, so we undressed and hit the bed for more. I did pay him double because we had sex twice, but mostly because he was so good and eager at pleasing me. He had not asked for double pay.1 point -
He is muscular lean, mid thirties, Thai with Korean wife. He speaks great English but that was only today as we didn't talk much before so his command of the language surprised me.1 point

It would be a mistake not to take seriously the fact that Rio has a huge crime problem. Don't bother comparing it to other cities, it is what it is. When you are there, the crime problem in Rio is much more important than Chicago's. That said, we know from these forums that many people here go to Rio and come home safely. There are common sense things to do to protect yourself, all well documented in this forum. But we can talk about crime in Rio for weeks. The bottom line is we want to go, we are unlikely to be victimized if we observe standard common sense safety rules, and don't let ourselves get into situations where drugs, drink, or dick cause us to lose judgment. I have always felt safe in Rio. I plan to keep going. I could come home with malaria, yellow fever, dengue, STDs, or I might come home damaged from violence. The odds are currently in my favor to come home safely, and that's just what I intend to do. Satiated sexually, of course!1 point

Tartegogo: In response to your comment that Brazil isn’t for everyone. It certainly is for me! As I mentioned, virtually all of my sauna experiences were great, and I could never hope to replicate the experiences I had where I am from (UK). I am already planning my next trip to Brazil in Dec. Sanddunes - Ironically, with a rape allegation hanging over me, the first thing I did without thinking, was to delete my grindr profile as I figured this guy would try to blackmail me some more. So regrettably I don’t have access to these pictures any longer. And no I don't think I gave any indication I was closeted. Gotti: Not wishing to sound as though I am blaming anyone, but some posters on here have sort of glamorised grindr hookups making them seem super easy and guaranteed fun with the implication being its completely safe. I learnt the hard way that it's best just to stick to the saunas.1 point

Can't people figure out there is a pattern going on here? All cases of robbery or improper behavior reported here recently on this forum envolves people taking persons they haven't met before to their hotels/apartments. I think nobody should be so vulnerable anywhere on earth, much less in Brazil, kinda asking for trouble and living in an utopian universe. Wake up for reality. In the sex business, we, the buyers, are up to be wronged, is not the other way around.1 point

Come on, let's be fair. Garotos have expenses for travel to the sauna and must pay sauna admission. Some garotos live a long distance from a sauna and spend a lot of travel time. I know some garotos who travel more than two hours each way to a sauna. While a garoto is in a sauna, he is spending his time. The expense to get to the sauna and to enter the sauna and to wait around hunting and hoping for a client, means that a garoto puts in more than just a few minutes or even one hour to make his money. Don't forget, some garotos go to a sauna and do not meet a client. Those garotos are out the expenses for travel and entrance plus their wasted time. There are the special garotos that get many clients in a night. Those are not the typical garoto. While it might seem like a garoto is making money for little time and effort, it is only an illusion. We must factor in travel, entrance and their time invested hunting for a client. True, a garoto makes more than the average non skilled worker in Brazil but most garotos put in a lot of time for the money they make in the saunas.1 point

not sure what’s stuck up your ass tonight but you are being a jerk! the primary purpose of this board is to talk about Gay Sex south of the border! unless i missed the announcement by Oz that you are now the moderator?! and everyone who has visited Brazil for longer then a hour knows that “gozar means to “Cum”! no one has to google it except you evidently! We get it You think you are a hot Black escort from Atlanta that can get all the free sex he wants in Brazil! great! Again as OZ has said innumerable times, if you don’t like a post MOVE ON! Don’t rain on all of us less fortunate then you! your posts the last few days have been a combo of Dismissive/contrary/demeaning/argumentative and rude! try being a little helpful and positive! I have been repeating answers to posters for years! big deal! if your time is so precious why waste it here? because IMHO you are helping no one!1 point

Axiom, we, know, believe us, we DO know. (Except 29x2=55????) Yes, it is 6 times cheaper than in NYC What you don’t seem to realise, is that everyone earns 6 times less than in NYC, on average. The waitress in a restaurant. The guy working behind a desk in a bank. The local pastor. The guy that collects bins. The lady that cleans my hotel room. Everything is in proportion. If we were all to give US$300-350 to a garoto for 1 full hour of penetrative sex with cum (which is what it costs in NYC these days) instead of $55, the garotos would become the richest people in their neighbourhood. That is not a problem in itself, but then I can’t afford as many guys, so, no thank you, I pay the local fair price, which is a very good price for Brazil, whether you like it or not. And then I am generous (when I say generous, i don’t mean an extra $12, I mean smartphone-price level) to the guys who are amazing and make me feel young and sexy.1 point

1) I suppose you would be fine buying a new car from a dealership for 50k and then learning your friend bought the exact same car for 25k? I suppose you also wouldn’t care if the car salesman told everyone else you were a dumb American and were stupid enough to pay double? The difference between 100 and 200 reals is 2x. Tomcal has reported before garotos making fun of clients behind their backs who overpay. 2) I don’t expect to get charged less than an unattractive client. But I certainly don’t expect to get charged more. 3) You are assuming my generosity amounts to $12 extra when you really have no idea what I have given or am capable of giving1 point
-
For me it isn’t so much the dollar amount as it is not wanting the garoto to view me as gullible or stupid. If I choose to be generous, I want that to be my decision, and not the garoto thinking he is pulling a fast one on me. It’s also annoying to see the same garoto later with a local older/overweight/whatever client and thinking that they are charging that client less than me.1 point
