This reminds of the time when I was in Italy years ago with my parents on a family trip. We were eating pasta at a local restaurant, and I commented that it was the best pasta dish I’ve ever tasted. My dad then said “We don’t have to travel all this way to eat this kind of pasta! Olive Garden has the same kind of stuff! And it tastes better!” While that may have been true (it wasn’t, the pasta dish was better than anything Olive Garden could produce IMHO), I think the fact that I was eating the dish in Rome made it taste better in my mind. To me, somehow sex in Brazil feels better. But that’s just me. BTW same thing happened with my dad when we were in Hong Kong. He preferred Panda Express to Dim Sum.

I’ve stayed at several AirBnBs in Brazilian cities that had safes in the master bedroom. I stayed at one in Cuba that had a safe. I just returned from Spain and two of the apartments where I stayed both had safes. They are more common than you think. You might want to do a search that includes the word safe or lockbox, or just read the apartment descriptions. Or you can just send a message to the owner and ask them directly before committing.

Although I never had a problem regarding valuables or other possessions, I'd highly recommend that you have these items secured or hidden discreetly. It is difficult to predict when Lagoa will be busy (or not busy). It depends on a lot of factors. You have to rely on probabilities. Brazil has a lot of holidays. Some holidays interfere with garotos going to saunas (Lagoa). Check out the holidays if going to Lagoa. Usual, Friday is the busiest, based on my experience visiting Lagoa. Saturday can be rather sparse but there have been days when it was busy. Sunday has always been a dull day at Lagoa for me. However, I don't go there anymore on Sunday. Things might have picked up. Over the past few months, Lagoa has been fairly active on Wednesday night. In prior years, Wednesday was fairly sparse. Bottom line - Friday is your best best for a fun time but you can also have fun other days, particularly on Wednesday. It is like predicting the weather when guessing when Lagoa will be busy or not.

My Tivo has about 6 or so episodes recorded, last night I watched West Virginia. It was heartbreaking to see how damn good he was at becoming a local *and taking you with him*. His and my politics and other views differ greatly from the people of that location and yet you could see their point of view perhaps clearer than any other way, appreciate them and their culture for what it is, and come out with changed perceptions. I highly recommend that episode.

The way I do it, one does not get in touch with the studios per se, but with the models in studio. I don't think the studios have any infrastructure to receive "customers". They are first and foremost a business that houses models who put on a show on camera, and the houses are not a brothel in the traditional sense, like boy bars in Thailand or saunas in Brazil. I happened to have met models that belong to the same studio and they were kind enough to accompany me to their place of work. I've met the owners of the studios because they were open to meet me, after some convincing from the boy(s). From there I've become known to the owner(s) and the studio and the other boys. The studios only get money from the cut they get from the boy's time using their computers and rooms. They (probably) don't get a cut from the boys if they meet clients offline for money. Therefore there is no incentive for them to entertain clients going to their houses en masse, since they are not a brothel. However, I have taken owners (with some models in tow) to dinner and the disco and to the beach, oftentimes picking up the (minuscule - food and beer is cheap in Colombia) tab for beers or dinner. Therefore they have been OK with me contacting their boys, me staying in their studio, and they even go far as send me photos of new models that come in, when they come in. They will pimp out the boys who want to be pimped out. Or if they want you to give some "tokens" to a new model to help them start up their reputation, they will ask you. There are models on Chaturbate who only do shows in front of the webcam. With some, if you ask them outright if they are escorts, they get offended. Some even have "no soy scort" on their Instragrams as a reminder that they only do it for show. But I also know some models double as masseurs who advertise on Grindr or online, and are more receptive to getting propositioned for money. I have found that subtlety is always your friend. Some boys who don't usually pimp themselves out, but will do it if the price is right, or if they like you, or if they are bored that day. If you like a boy online and want to see if they are going to be able to be had for cash, talk to them on Chaturbate and see if they are in a city that you will be visiting. Ask them to go out to dinner with you, or if they are available to be a guide. If they say yes, more than likely they are willing to do more with you when the time comes. Your mileage may vary, of course. This is just one way to meet boy toys in Colombia. When you are there Grindr is fairly helpful. Most of the models are on it anyway. And there are also saunas in some cities.

First, thank you for sharing with us. That is a brave act when someone opens up something so personal. Thank you. My first boyfriend in NYC was HIV Positive. He taught me a lot about HIV as he was in multiple studies and his blood was highly sought after by researchers because of the previous studies he was in. I was very young and very inexperienced sexually and would have done anything with him. But, he wanted to make sure I stayed negative and he taught me a lot. Just a few months back I went on PrEP. I have had a lot of friends that died and a lot more that survived and thrived. The ex was diagnosed in the early 80's. He is still alive and doing great. I also hope that the next generation that did not see the devastation in our community realizes that they have options and things can be different for them. At least this is my hope.

New Ryan Murphy scripted series on FX...... Very cool period drama, taking place in 1987 Gay "House" Ball scene.
