Tartegogo, I have enjoyed reading about your trip. I don't have any personal advice for you or any desire to tell you if you did anything wrong. Can't understand why others do, but you handle it well.

I watched, the very anticipated, "Call Me by Your Name". I read the book this summer and liked it a lot. There has been a lot of hype about the release of the movie and I was counting the minutes until it was released. I was worried it would be a let down, but, it wasn't thanks to Timothee Chalamet's performance. What an amazing young actor he is. He is practically in every scene and he never drops the ball. He brought memories back of my own first love experiences and the agony that involved. Armie Hammar is the perfect foil. He's the unobtainable American beauty. Tall, blonde, masculine, confident, and extraordinarily handsome. Decades ago, I had an experience with a very handsome guy who was way beyond my league. However, one crazy New Year's Eve, we consummated our friendship. It's an experience I'll never forget. For an art house film, it never becomes too "literary" or "artsy". A beautiful summer in Northern Italy, which is the perfect setting to have your first heartbreaking romance. If Chalamet doesn't receive an Oscar nomination it will be a travesty!

Does anyone know a good massage place in Rio, hopefully in Copacabana? I have googled and found two places Spa H Rio: https://www.spahrio.com.br/ And Terapias Alex: https://www.terapiasalexlisboa.com/ But I have no idea about the quality but I want a good massage (without any sex involved, I get it somewhere else haha). Having a male therapist is helpful but not a requirement.

Over the period of a weekend my lymph glands swelled up and I became extremely septic. Went to ER and surgery preformed the next day to clean out area. Then 3 weeks of heavy duty IV antibiotics and a wound vacuum. Home now with a portable Vac and three trips a week to wound care for dressing change. It was rough just to sit in a room for 3 weeks and I also didn't know how serious it was till I had been in for a week. Puts a whole different view on Home for the Holidays. Very very thankful here.

Young11 I understand what you are feeling. the first 3 or 4 years I went to Brazil I always went with 2 or 3 good friends and we had a 3 bedroom apt in Copa that my friend had year around. and it was great but the 4 of us were the result of meeting a number of americans and we realized dinner was too long to be around a lot of them! the 4 of us got along great and thou we came from diverse backgrounds and different parts of the country we became good friends and are to this day, 15 years later! but we never shared a apt or hotel room until we got to know each other through about 6 or 8 trips.

Yes please upload pictures of the apartment. I have only rented an Airbnb apartment once in Ipanema, and didn't like it. The other trips are all hotel stays (4 stars), which are just ok.
