The carnage of Las Vegas
AdamSmith and one other reacted to TownsendPLocke for a topic
I think rather than a lack of empathy or concern the lack of postings about the horrible indecent in Las Vegas is indicative of the desire of regular posters here to keep this forum free of political discussions- which will inevitable follow any such posting. I don't come here for political discussion- and have blocked one frequent poster because of his constant barrage of political posts (even though he and I are on the same side politically) and I don't read other post about politics. IMO this is not the place for such discussions although If others wish to discuss such things I would not register a complaint. I do have other outlets for this type of discussion just as I have other outlets for discussion of my other interest in life. While a boost in participation for this site would be most welcome I fear that opening up postings that become troll bait will turn off both newbies to this site and some regulars.2 points -
Wow...It's good to be back.1 point

Heisenberg recollected a conversation among young participants at the 1927 Solvay Conference about Einstein and Planck's views on religion between Wolfgang Pauli, Heisenberg and Dirac. Dirac's contribution was a criticism of the political purpose of religion, which was much appreciated for its lucidity by Bohr when Heisenberg reported it to him later. Among other things, Dirac said: "I cannot understand why we idle discussing religion. If we are honest—and scientists have to be—we must admit that religion is a jumble of false assertions, with no basis in reality. The very idea of God is a product of the human imagination. It is quite understandable why primitive people, who were so much more exposed to the overpowering forces of nature than we are today, should have personified these forces in fear and trembling. But nowadays, when we understand so many natural processes, we have no need for such solutions. I can't for the life of me see how the postulate of an Almighty God helps us in any way. What I do see is that this assumption leads to such unproductive questions as why God allows so much misery and injustice, the exploitation of the poor by the rich and all the other horrors He might have prevented. If religion is still being taught, it is by no means because its ideas still convince us, but simply because some of us want to keep the lower classes quiet. Quiet people are much easier to govern than clamorous and dissatisfied ones. They are also much easier to exploit. Religion is a kind of opium that allows a nation to lull itself into wishful dreams and so forget the injustices that are being perpetrated against the people. Hence the close alliance between those two great political forces, the State and the Church. Both need the illusion that a kindly God rewards—in heaven if not on earth—all those who have not risen up against injustice, who have done their duty quietly and uncomplainingly. That is precisely why the honest assertion that God is a mere product of the human imagination is branded as the worst of all mortal sins.[39]"1 point

Reviews on Boytoy
Latbear4blk reacted to msclelovr for a topic
Given the legal problems other sites have had, I understand the constraints on reviews. I don't feel that current reviews are "useless" at all. I check to see what the guy offers in his ad and then I look at the reviewer's profile. If I were interested in hiring the guy, I need to know whether he's a bottom or versatile, affectionate etc and to be assured that he relates well and is eager to please a much older man. Everything else is negotiable. And as we all know, personal chemistry is indefinable but important.1 point -

Although we might be seen as The Island of Misfit Toys by some the very fact that Adam Smith was banned by The Fat Lady in the Filthy dress (actually it was most likely her nasty little dog Tweeker ) tells me that I made the right decision in leaving that Other Site for good several years ago. AS is an incredibly intelligent and thoughtful contributor to this site. And even though his posts might be a bit outre at times (My Dear-that one thread!) he more than makes up for it in his many other posts. I am glad he is here.1 point -

I m a political animal but I am with you. I come here to talk about hooking up, not about politics. You are an Olympian, I am Dangling Member, you tell me why people do not participate even when talking about guys? One interesting think I did noticed, there is a lot of traffic from outside the USA, although they do not post. When I started participating here last week, I posted a few links to my blog. Two links were for DC guys, one link for a guy in Buenos Aires. I am getting a lot of hits from here to the post in my blog about the boy in Buenos Aires, not as many for the two guys in DC.1 point -
The reviews at the other site have become useless in almost all the cases. "He was cute, made me happy and the rest I'll keep to myself" What good is something like this?1 point

Panama City or Bogota for November
Darkseraphim reacted to firecat691614502759 for a topic
Probably because the gay scene is more developed although certainly not like Brazil and more members have actually been there. I did not find Bogota unsafe but I am a seasoned traveler , leave my jewelry at home, same for camera . Don't flash big bills. About the same way I'd behave in Miami, LA or NYC, Rio etc. I think Medellin is a beautiful city and if you are into using the apps, plenty of opportunity as there is in Bogota.1 point -

Bogota. Worth the trip just for the Gold Museum----hundreds of pieces of Pre-Columbian solid gold artwork. A gay area of town, many gay bars, and several saunas with "masseurs". A very modern European-like big city. But the guys are 100 times better looking in Medellin and it costs half as much, max.1 point -
It was his way making it way back here to the forum, ask the group a question. Innocent enough. But sooner or later we always come back to the same JD stuff, the stories, the threats, the drama, EOY.... I hear Dynasty is coming back ? I'll just watch that for my Drama fix.1 point

brockmiller reacted to Suckrates for a topic

Mexico City
Darkseraphim reacted to floridarob for a topic
try this site and then decide where to go in Mexico... I like Monterrey, Mexico City.... not saying where I live in Mexico these days, keeping that my own little sexual paradise, lol http://mx.mileroticos.com/escorts-gay/ Grindr and Manhunt are popular in Mexico.... just book a hotel for 2, worse case they can make you register your guest. Stay away from the Hilton across from the Bella Artes, they have been the most difficult to let someone in for me. Mexico city prices in my experience range from 500-2000 pesos, 1000 being about average.... Cuba is not much further.. and going price is still about $20 usd with apartment rentals in the 25-45 a night range. I'll be in Havana the 1st week or so in Dec1 point
