Ditto! The progressive field keeps talking about "saving the planet". Earth will survive us, life will survive us, Nature is just shaking human dirt away. It is not about saving the planet, it is about keeping livable conditions for Homo sapiens. We are a microsecond in Earth's life.

I wholly agree. She is doing so even now, beginning the tide of events that will in not too long eliminate us as pests visiting a nuisance on Her and Her planet. The term 'tide' used advisedly.

  3. I arrived in Porto Alegre yesterday to the same beautiful weather I had all week in Rio! I went to Mezziniu about 5:00 and it as somewhat busy for early on a Friday, but thinned out fast by 8:30 -9;:00 but I met the guy that I have known for 3 years and we had some drinks and then went upstairs and he had to leave at 7:30 but was going to meet back up with me at Bar Mixx at 10:30 I went into the bar area and a good looking guy walked over and introduced himself and said " I know you are tom"! he said his friend had told him but I never did figure out who his friend was. he was very toned, nice build, with V shaped back small waist, and big dick and he said "What kind of guys do you like"? I said "they have to be goodlooking...check, they have to have a good personality...check, they have to be very good kissers....there he stopped me and said "how is this?" and proceeded to kiss me for what seemed like 5 mins...at the 6 min mark we were in a room! He was a goodlooking big dicked Bottom, my perfect guy! he came twice and then we went downstairs and by 9:00 there were very few people left there! He left and 2 minutes later had friended me on FB! We are meeting up again tonight! I got to Mezziniu and was greeted by the owner and about 2 mins later the guy from Mezziniu that I had been with and said he would meet me there showed up, on time and definitely buzzed by the 3 drinks he had! we then ran into a guy who I had originally met at Bar Mix 2 years ago on his 18th birthday, I remember it well as he was so excited to be able to legally go to the bar! we never hooked up then as he just seemed too young but he friended me on FB and we talked from time to time. when he showed up my friend said "let's take him to a room"! So we did, and this 6'2", 20 yr old german kid gave a 1/2 hour BJ to start!! I finally had to say let's do something else! LOL This morning around 11:00 the guy who I met 3 years ago when he needed to make some money and showed up at Mezziniu in the bar area still in his street clothes and the mgr at Mezz. knew him and told me that his friend needed help and would I take him to a room(one of the better decisions I have made!) graduated from law school last year and is working at a firm, but for the last 3 years when ever I come to P.A. he shows up to thank me again for helping him out! usually it is a quickie at 7:30 a.m. on his way to the office but this time he is coming over tonight at 8:00 and we are going to have dinner together and then he is going to stay the night. But he is always late so I can probably stay at Mezziniu until 9:00!

The one thing that gives me some hope, but far more terror, is the experimentation into planetary geoengineering that we ever-too-clever apes are inevitably going to throw ourselves into, once the true scope and scale of climate disaster for our species hit home. (As if they had not already.) That is going to be the greatest tampering with the lock to Pandora's box that we will ever have undertaken. Justifiably so, though, as we have already (400ppm) cut ourselves off from any other way out.

And with what we Homo sapiens (dreadfully ironic name) have done to the climate, it is going to be like this -- and keep getting worse -- from here on out. We have broke the planet. The only one we have for now, as Hawking et al. point out.

  6. I have felt since you began this topic that it was of questionable veracity but now I label it, at best, as not well thought out.

Seriously, it is not only Puerto Rico. Many Caribbean Islands have been devastated. One of my colleagues (I am high school teacher) is from the Virgin Islands and her brother was without contact for days, her family house is destroyed, and they are not going to have the power grid restored for months. It is terrible.
