Finally! Return of a viewpoint explored by Louis Malle long ago in 'Pretty Baby', but precious few times since. Sex and the city: “Harlots” provides an engaging view of the sex trade in 18th-century London Hulu's tempting new drama views Georgian-era prostitution through the female gaze, and the result is fascinating http://www.salon.com/2017/03/29/sex-and-the-city-harlots-provides-an-engaging-view-of-the-sex-trade-in-18th-century-london/1 point

Federal Civil Rights Law Protects Gays
Darkseraphim reacted to TotallyOz for a topic
A very interesting case was just decided. I hope this holds and gives us all the protections afforded under the act. As Joe Biden might say, "this is a big fucking deal." http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/civil-rights-act-employee-lgbt-discrimination_us_58e4257be4b03a26a3674d34?nflnk8pw5xddholxr1 point -
First trip to Brazil

I have Never had a sauna guy Ever quote a price in U.S. Dollars in 16 years of going to Brazil They are always referring to R. Even the guys who have visited the US give prices in R. When they are in Brazil.1 point -
Every appointee of his and many actions are gutting just about every federal branch and regulation. Do I care whether a transgender person loses protections in a Federal job...? A little. Do I care if all environmental progress in the last 20 years is lost...? HOW DOESN'T EVERYBODY? There are a dozen critical issues that anybody who follows things and has ever been left leaning is worried about. Hell, just the naked hypocrisy of all the golf weekends which line his own pockets and all the money to keep his 'wife' in Trump Tower... His take on the checks and balances of the different branches of government AND a FREE PRESS are a clear and present danger to the Constitution of the United States of America. Your ability to get healthcare if sick, your ability to buy safe food, breathe clean air, travel internationally, not have your activities here sold by your ISP, etc. are all on the line.1 point

First trip to Brazil
Adamadam reacted to SolaceSoul for a topic
Since you were using Google Translate on your phone, that entire "misunderstanding" could have been avoided by simply clarifying upfront that the $120R price was for "all night" (which translates to "toda a noite"). You were fortunate that you left the sauna with a decent guy. It sounds like he was hoping to work something out with you for the rest of the night even before you left the sauna, but he was willing to settle for just a cab ride back to Zona Sul. Others might not let you off that easy. But if you can take care of yourself, as you say, then no problem.1 point -

Where to buy poppers in the following cities?
JKane reacted to endlessdream for a topic
Sorry for being so late. Cali is small, but in a cute and calm way. There's enough to do for maybe 1 or 2 days, and the rest can be wholly dedicated to the boys there. I met three. The first was a nice young man working in a shop, so very open and chatty. He's slim and tall, but not super well hung. We had some fun and he showed me around a bit. The second one was a Afro tall muscled young man working in a T-shirt factory, with an earthy charm. His cock is huge and hard any time I command, a real sex machine. I ended up spending most of my time there with him. He showed me some hidden corners in the city. The 3rd one was a quicky right before I left. He carries an incredible resemblance to Ashton Kutcher, and is very passionate in lover making. It was a shame that we had limited time. None brought up money issue, but I did pay all the drinks, meal, transport, etc.1 point -
Boa noite gentleman! I thought I'd add to this thread rather than make a new one because my report isn't exactly seasoned... My impressions of Brazil are pretty damn great. The people aren't that smiley but the majority are very nice when you start speaking to them, I like it. I like New York and Paris and I've never found the people there rude, more genuine. The weather has been great and I'm loving the beach. I can't really understand how people survive with the price of food and basic goods given their poorer income?! Ipanema is obviously middle class but still... Sunday night I went to 117. I doubt many people have been more freaked out on entering the place. I went to Thermas in Barcelona once, late, it was shit and I left quickly. The vibe in 117 was nice though, not predatory like desperado-hour Thermas. I got there quite late, at around 8.30 and there weren't many guys I could see (in my limited knowledge). So I got a bit drunk and relaxed and then there was a drag queen show which I'd never seen before... I thought drag shows were all miming to ballads, not my thing... I was fully expecting to be cringing through the whole thing but this was sort of slapstick humour so although I couldn't understand a word practically, it was very very funny, especially this fat drag queen who was playing the straight man (ironically) who I thought was hilarious It made me laugh a lot and everyone else was enjoying it too so it really made me relax and have a good time I was trying to avoid eye contact with any guys I didn't like but being sort of nice and English and inexperienced that wasn't easy, as was trying to tell them to get lost nicely when they did come over. I'm learning though. So I basically sat there and got drunk, chatted to a few guys, some get lost please category, some you're cool but I'm not sure yet. It was getting late and I still hadn't got with anyone. Earlier I'd clocked this American guy who was very friendly and with all the guys. He spoke English. I bumped into him and told him the score: I'm a sauna virgin (mas o menos), still finding the whole thing a bit overwhelming. He was really nice apart from not understanding a fucking word I said, my London accent. I don't get this sometimes? I can easily understand most American dialects but I've frequently found you guys find it difficult to understand me? Anyway... He was like right here we go! And proceeded to march me, willingly, around the sauna, seeing places I didn't know were there to check out the few remaining guys. They displayed their wares with this guy and he was like, "you like that?"... Hmm I dunno... OK let's move on. It was the kick up the ass I needed even though I didn't see anyone I liked. I was sort of drawing on his, to me, brazen behaviour Still no luck. We went back to the lockers and were chatting to a couple of guys and one was really cute, hadn't noticed him before. So with my new wingman there I bit the bullet and off we went. American dude said he'd wait and share a taxi, I said are you sure? He was. (He'd disappeared by the time we came out, fair enough). Me and the guy spent most of the time making out. He was lovely, pretty, with a great slim body. By the time we finished everyone was leaving, asked a couple of guys where American dude went and they thought he left so I bailed. Guy I went with asked me if I was in Ipanema - yes- so I said let's share a taxi. He said no let's use the metro but it was Sunday and shut at 11 we discovered when we got there. We got a taxi. Now without getting into the price of stuff I do think this is illustrative; he asked for 100 for the time and I tipped him another 20 because I liked him. On the way home we were chatting via Google translate and I asked him if he wanted to come stay. He said yes (obviously) and said the price was... 120! You probably think this is crazy anyway on basically my first night at the sauna but I was drunk and fuck it and I can handle myself and he was definitely a nice guy (whether I fall asleep and he steals is probably more to the point...) I thought he understood that was for overnight, out of the taxi and he's says ah but I have to leave at 0230 . That didn't bother me though really, I was having second thoughts if this was sensible, I mostly wanted to chill and have a few beers and I do not like being pressured if I'm not being paid for it. So, after a bit of back and forth I said it's probably best if you go home. No problem for him or me, we parted on good terms, he got a lift most of the way home anyway I guess! He lives in Copacabana. Probably for the best anyway. Monday I wanted to go to Meio Mundo, a couple of the guys said it would be really busy because of the free room thing but on the day I wasn't in the mood. I went to 117 again tonight but I've typed way too much already Metro and Ipanema 99% safe imo, I'd be more worried going out at night in most western cities.1 point

@AdamSmith : According to Salon "Margaret’s dilemma isn’t moral, mind you. There’s never a question of whether Lucy can escape a life of prostitution or even if she wants to. Her turn in the world’s oldest profession is all but inevitable and not uncommon in Georgian-era London, when one in five women made their living as prostitutes." I ran across this 20% figure before in college while doing research or a paper and it seemed too outrageous for me to believe at the time. However, it is now being used as a widely accepted number for London at that time. I find it amazing how far we've come as a society and how quickly we forget where we've come from.1 point

Venezuela pay scene
likeohmygod reacted to Darkseraphim for a topic
@likeohmygod : I agree with you 100%! You went with a friend who could ac as a local fixer and apparently you were able to leverage their social network and contacts to have a pleasurable stay. However, most guys on this board are not so blessed. I really love Venezuelan guys but, for me the risk is currently unacceptable. I've taken long meandering walks on the streets of Baltimore, Memphis, Chicago, Philadelphia, Mexico City, Medellin, Bogota, Santo Domingo and many other "dangerous" cities. I will hazard that the members of this forum have a heightened "perceived risk tolerance" compared to the average citizen of the industrialized economies. However, Venezuela gives even people like me pause. If you have to go for work you may have no choice but, please make sure that you can get a trusted local fixer to guide you and that what you are being offered is extraordinary. There are lots of gorgeous Colombian and Brazilian guys who are comparable with the universally acknowledged beauties of South America. I take the media reports with a grain of salt but, all my contacts tell me only bad things regarding Venezuela right now. @whall : If you must go please make sure that it is worth it, that you will have a trusted local to guide you and that you write a good sitrep for this board If the media and all my contacts have been blowing smoke and Venezuela is actually some gorgeous guy paradise I want to know!1 point -

Hi Guys, A discussion on this topic developed in another thread I opened (reporting on Rio sauans), picking up on a side comment of mine. I'm opening a new thread on this, because due to responses there - I think some members here might benefit from it in their future travels. To be clear, not-4-pay means exactly that: young locals who want to hook up with OWM (old white male) without asking for money. Some of them might hope for money, but it's never mentioned or hinted at. Since many wondered again and again why-oh-why would a young hot guy be interested in us out-of-shape oldies, here are the answers I gathered in circa ten countries (Latin America and Asia): Some young prefer mature, a universal phenomena (also in the straight world). Preferring tourists to non-discrete / akward-to-meet-again locals. In China and Vietnam I got the distinct feeling that they're interested in non-Asian cock length. (I'm average, but for most of them it was like "huge".) Cosmopolitan big-world atmosphere, routine-breaking, natural wish to know new people from other countries. Genuine fondness. Not all men are sex/money-oriented (I had at least one guy who refused money for a taxi back home); some want to hang out together just because they like you. I know it sounds naive, but I'm sure about 2 cases of circa 10 (including the Rio law student I mentioned in the original post). Practice English A day off, with no (transportation, food, enterance) expenses. (I never wanted to take someone with me on a flight or cruise, but twice - when I had a rented car - we drove to out-of-town attractions.) Hope for money/gifts or for a longer-lasting beneficial laison. In a couple of cases I did buy a small gift. In one case, months later I sent the guy in Myanmar a unique birthday present. How to find these guys? (Not only) I publish my profile locally in advance, writing that I'm looking for a local companion to show me around. Since gay-dating webs/apps are sex-oriented, sex is implicitly included (never had a problem).Of course I get a lot of responses from (upfront or not) moneyboys, and sometimes I also "book ahead". However, as mentioned in my original post, I got lucky in circa 10 countries with nice hot guys who weren't out for money. I'm posting because some responders gave the impression that they didn't know/believe such a thing is possible. Well it is. This isn't only to save money; for me at least, it's primarily to get an authentic interpersonal experience, and to enjoy the 'services' of a local 'tourguide'1 point

Venezuela pay scene
Darkseraphim reacted to likeohmygod for a topic
Yeah, that's why i was asking if he was going for leisure. If it's just for fun, then my suggestion is to strongly avoid Venezuela. A lot of hot boys and huge things between their legs :D...but as you said, it's not worth it...too dangerous, and i'm not talking about getting robbed; that would be the best thing it could happen if something wrong is going to happen. If you're forced to go there (work for example)...abstain from seeking boys unless you can speak a good Spanish and/or you have a sort of personal guide. To answer your question @Darkseraphim: yes i did sample the "Made in Venezuela". I can say that the quality of what you can get, is at least the same of what you can get in Brazil or in Colombia (at least for my standards). Grindr is also full of hot guys (even if something is changing, probably a sort of migration to other apps), but i've never tried to meet someone from there. I've been strongly descouraged to do that, because of the risks of getting fucked up, in the bad way. I have a great friend from Caracas who traveled with me, and that introduced me to his friends, and the friends of their friends. That is how i have been able to safely enjoy the place...and the "local produce" :D. Of course I'm not saying that going to Caracas will automatically result in robbery, injuries and death. There are safe places, but cruising for sex, as a tourist, could be extremely dangerous compared to Brazil, depending on where you go and who you might find.1 point -

That's probably "Parque de calistenia y street workout Spartans Park" at least that's what the google describes it as. I agree, you can people watch some of the finest specimens in CDMX. I never stood around long enough to find out if any of the guys were interested in making any supplemental income, I'm sure that someone could get lucky though.1 point -
I've never been to Thailand but I'm a night owl too and I'm more horny at night. Understand the guys want to go and do their own shit at night though. Selfish pricks1 point

For me as much as I like Rio, this is the difference with Bangkok. Things in Bangkok don't get started till 9pm and wind down at 1am . Then you can go to clubs till 6am.1 point
