Hi Guys, A discussion on this topic developed in another thread I opened (reporting on Rio sauans), picking up on a side comment of mine. I'm opening a new thread on this, because due to responses there - I think some members here might benefit from it in their future travels. To be clear, not-4-pay means exactly that: young locals who want to hook up with OWM (old white male) without asking for money. Some of them might hope for money, but it's never mentioned or hinted at. Since many wondered again and again why-oh-why would a young hot guy be interested in us out-of-shape oldies, here are the answers I gathered in circa ten countries (Latin America and Asia): Some young prefer mature, a universal phenomena (also in the straight world). Preferring tourists to non-discrete / akward-to-meet-again locals. In China and Vietnam I got the distinct feeling that they're interested in non-Asian cock length. (I'm average, but for most of them it was like "huge".) Cosmopolitan big-world atmosphere, routine-breaking, natural wish to know new people from other countries. Genuine fondness. Not all men are sex/money-oriented (I had at least one guy who refused money for a taxi back home); some want to hang out together just because they like you. I know it sounds naive, but I'm sure about 2 cases of circa 10 (including the Rio law student I mentioned in the original post). Practice English A day off, with no (transportation, food, enterance) expenses. (I never wanted to take someone with me on a flight or cruise, but twice - when I had a rented car - we drove to out-of-town attractions.) Hope for money/gifts or for a longer-lasting beneficial laison. In a couple of cases I did buy a small gift. In one case, months later I sent the guy in Myanmar a unique birthday present. How to find these guys? (Not only) I publish my profile locally in advance, writing that I'm looking for a local companion to show me around. Since gay-dating webs/apps are sex-oriented, sex is implicitly included (never had a problem).Of course I get a lot of responses from (upfront or not) moneyboys, and sometimes I also "book ahead". However, as mentioned in my original post, I got lucky in circa 10 countries with nice hot guys who weren't out for money. I'm posting because some responders gave the impression that they didn't know/believe such a thing is possible. Well it is. I went to MM tonight and ran into the buff guy who was one of the two that were involved in this incident. He was friendly and somewhat apologetic and we agreed it was all a misunderstanding (though it sure didn't seem that way at the time) and we left with abracos and high fives. Apparently after I left the scene that other night my gringo friend had a Brazilian friend with him (whom I had never met before) that witnessed the whole thing and took it upon himself to call the police. According to the sauna guy the police showed up and took all of the cash from the two sauna guys leaving them with nothing. He said that the other sauna guy (who in my opinion was the more aggressive of the two) was so shaken up that he has not returned to MM. So in the end--at least with the guy who was there tonight it was all smoothed over. My original point was that outside the saunas you are kind of on your own and things can go wrong without much backup--especially if your Portuguese is limited.

I find both free sex and paid sex fun. I normally prefer the paid version as I can tell them exactly what I want, the way I want and the time I want it. When I pick up someone for free, which does happen on occasion, I feel I have to be as supportive of their sexual needs as mine. I much prefer it be all about me.

I'm not sure about "tighter" themes. But I am sure about friendliness and a welcoming attitude. I am taking my second trip to Brazil in 7 days. I previously came to these forums and asked many questions before my first trip almost exactly one year ago. I was alternately welcomed, helped, and belittled. I have a pretty thick skin, so I skipped over the few posts with a nasty attitude and welcomed the people who were willing to help me, even if my question might have been answered at some point a few years ago elsewhere in the archives of this forum. Honestly, thank you to everybody who read my questions and responded politely. Before I left for Brazil, I had been working on a report from my visits to Costa Rica, which included information that I had never seen covered in these forums. I was working on an exhaustive report, and I planned to add my own impressions of Rio. Unfortunately, I came back from Rio with a serious illness that lasted for several weeks. When I was feeling better and logged back into this site, I found multiple posts (albeit mostly from one person) complaining about people who visit this site and ask questions and then don't "contribute" in return. I had persevered through several unwelcoming/insulting responses prior to my trip. But in that just-getting-over-a-serious-illness state, and combined with the nastiness of the continued griping, I simply decided to walk away, and forget both my Brazil report and my Costa Rica report. I came back to this site out of curiosity a few weeks ago, in anticipation of my upcoming trip. I am excited to visit Brazil again. I welcome all the updates and reports of people's visits to Brazil. I hope to add my own in the future. I'm going to do my best to ignore the (still present) person who is the source of most of the negativity in this forum (although I halfway expect an attack in response to this post). I enjoy reading about other people's experiences, and planning for my own trips. I'm reading the recent reports of Rio and making my own plans at the moment. I hope to add my own notes once I return. It would be awesome to contribute in my own way and in my own time without facing the withering negativity that is all-too-often seen on this site.

Although I usually don't step in controversies I believe I get the characters of a certain (under) class in Brazil in particular Rio and looks to me that the other guy, maybe not a sauna garoto got to the frame of mind "we are here in this happening place without any money to score and there is a fucking faggott walking around, let's making give us what we need, he won't do anything, after all he is just a..." Happens when income disparity collides with extreme prejudice. It happens a lot in Brazil and elsewhere when the wrong factors combine. Our orientation is not accepted and is certainly an affront especially to some disadvantaged individuals. Do bad things to us unfortunately is totally accepted and justified.

And I hope America declares it FAKE NEWS ! This man MUST be humiliated upon his departure.

Thank God for Congresswoman Maxine Waters who seems to be the only person with the Balls to call out the Trump admin as a bunch of greedy, money grabbing SCUMBAGS in bed with the Kremlin Klan for oil money... Torogen, I hope you won't let possible negativity deter you from posting here. After all, this is the internet and you never know what problems or difficulties other posters face. I like this site simply because of the exchange of information and views. Also I'd urge you to revive, finish and post your draft report on Costa Rica. I think it could well be of great interest to people thinking of travelling there.

When you find a good AirBnB, in a location that you like, continue to use it, if it is available. Shopping around trip by trip is a waste of time and energy. I don't intend to use the apartment for much more than sleeping, bathing, eating, cooking and screwing, so anything that's clean, safe, private and in a convenient area works for me. I'll do my sightseeing outside the apartment. There are also non-AirBnB apartment sites for about the same price. However, many of these same apartments are also available on either AirBnB or HomeAway/VRBO. Three of the ones I have used in Rio, 2 in Salvador, and 1 in São Paulo are on one or both of those sites. I've become friends with a few of the apartment owners now so no need to shop around -- and at this point, they would feel offended if they found out I was in town and did not ask to stay at one of their places.
