But i am going back down this weekend to look at 7 more homes since i and the owner have not reached a agreement yet and i want a 2nd and 3rd choice! Btw the ceilings in all the historic homes are 18' tall. And the doorways are 12' and the colors are bright! The new limited mini-series on ABC which started last night chronicles the rise of the Gay rights movement. Based on a book by activist Cleve Jones, and written by Oscar winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, it was a welcome surprise that the network channel had the guts to air this. With a skilled and accomplished cast, starring Guy Pearce as the elder Mr Jones, it is often graphic and sexual. It was a powerful portrayal of the movement and the terrible struggles we had to overcome. And now we are in fear of losing it all because of some reality TV asshole with nothing but prejudice and hatred in his heart and soul. I recommend this show as a must watch for EVERYONE ! (plus, it has some beautiful boys) . It will rip your heart out and educate you at the same time. I just booked a r/t ticket for late March from Los Angeles to Rio for $605 roundtrip on American. That is the cheapest I have seen it in a long time and ironically the fare is higher from New York or Miami which are closer. I always use brazilianexpress.com which generates fares lower than even the airlines website as they are a consolidator. The same ticket booking directly with American would have been over $200 more. They also discount other airlines traveling to Brazil and I have never had a problem buying off their website. Worth checking out before your next trip to Brazil. Hint--you have to register(free) and log in before seeing the cheapest fares.

The Week is great for music, dancing and hard, shirtless bodies. If you are going alone and without local friends, and you don't look the part, you are bound to meet no one. You'll look just like the old perv hanging out at the playground -- seriously. If you can't enjoy The Week for the experience it is without feeling like a total failure if you didn't make a sex date, then you are probably better off avoiding it. Several of my Brazilian friends love the place. Others hate it. If you remember the big gay dance circuit party clubs in Manhattan (or London, or Paris) that lasted until 9 am, where many shirtless muscled men would dance tweaked off recreational pills, then this is the Brazilian version. Some of the GPs I know well like to go there to hang out with friends, but never to make new clients. That would be an awkward situation for them as they are usually with some friends who don't know they are garotos.
