INTRODUCTION: Whenever I travel abroad, I like to visit the well known tourist attractions, sites and enjoy nature. However...one needs relaxing too right. I plannend a three week trip to Colombia in which I would visit Bogotá, Medellín and Cathagena. Since I was never in Colombia before, I thought it was a good idea to start of in the popular cities before heading out to the more rural parts of the country. If you read the reports on the internet regarding safety, street crime and violence you get pretty anxious. So was I the forst two days. Afterwards I relaxed more and I can now say: you'll be be all right. It's perfectly safe als long as you go by some basic rules. First: stay in the safe areas (there is enough info on google), don't go to infamous neighborhoods, only take a little cash when you go out and don't wear or carry obvious valuables (e.g. watches, iPhones, jewelry). I always put some emergency money in my shoes for when a pickpocket gets me. When I needed my phone, I used it discrete and I kept it in a hidden pocket. Secondly: don't walk the streets after dark, take a taxi using the different apps. My favorite was Uber: safe, documented and no cash involved. Loved it. Last: be aware of your surroundings, don't leave your drink unattended. Basically these rules should be applied by every visitor in every city in the world I think. Once these rules were in my system, I started to enjoy the place! Besides that I rented my private apartment which gave me a very secure feeling and, subsequently, a place to play when needed :-) SEX (Grindr): Latinos. I have been to Thermas in Barcelona 4 visits encompassing probably 4visits each trip in the years, I think from 2010 to 2014. and brazil over 100 visits from 2001 to present. In general I find the saunas in Brazil to be a friendlier more social environment but that could just be because I am much better acquainted with them!. As far as Pointe202 goes, I have found some of my favorite guys on slow nights in a sauna, so don't pass up a opportunity to go just because someone says "Oh it's not good on that night!" with the entrance fee averaging between$40 - $45.R(approx. $12.+US) after what you spend on airfare/lodging etc, a extra 12 bucks to see who is there on your way from the hotel is not a big deal!

More a lurker on this site than a regular participant but I always enjoy the contributions of others. I will be visiting Rio (first time on my own) from February 14-21. Like trzinko, I would love to hear from anyone who may be in the city at the same time and may want to meet up for coffee (or just traveling to a sauna together for extra safety and company!) I did also have two specific questions that probably have been discussed previously but I thought I would throw them out and see if I get some more current feedback. Others here seem rather down on Pointe 202 (compared to club 117 or meio mundo). But, it is so convenient to my hotel in Copa!!! For those who have visited both Thermas and saunas in Rio, what would you say were the biggest differences in your experiences between the two (especially in how you approach/interact with the boys). I appreciate any feedback and love hearing different perspectives.
