  1. SolaceSoul, thanks for writing this. When I read Scott’s comment, it really bothered me. When one travels outside of his own country, he should at least learn and use some basic words of the country and/or countries to which he’s traveling.

    Apollo 11

So warning in advance: this is strictly for nerds. From the Apollo 11 flight journal: http://history.nasa.gov/ap11fj/01launch.htm PAO: We're through the region of maximum dynamic pressure now. [As it flies through the air, the rocket must withstand an aerodynamic pressure imparted by its speed through the molecules of the atmosphere. This is like the pressure felt on a hand stuck out of the window of a fast-travelling car. In the rocketry situation, two things are happening to vary this pressure: the vehicle's rising speed makes it higher; the rapidly thinning atmosphere brings it down. The interaction of these two variables leads to a point in the ascent when the aerodynamic pressure, denoted by the letter 'Q', reaches a peak. This is known as Max-Q and is the point when weaknesses in the rocket's structure are most likely to be found out. It occurs at 1 minute and 23 seconds into the flight.] My only value-add is the boldfacing above.

    I love Jaden Smith

Love the gender blending skirt wearing handsome young man who is breaking down barriers in the black community. Keep it up Jaden!

  4. Rua Figueiredo de Magalhães is one of the busiest streets in Copa. If you do choose to rent, find out what floor and if the apartment faces the street or not. Depending on location and floor, there can be lots of street noise from trucks and buses, Let alone music from neighbors.

  5. Agreed , I switched from ATT and love Tmobile. Instant service in every country I have been in . 3G is good and calls are free in country and calls to other countries are at the most 20Cents per minute vs. $2 with the crooks at ATT. I have friends even worse with Verizon which is a total joke with no service in many of the countries we have visited.

  6. Having seen him nude on Broadway, I can verify that he has definitely grown up and has an ass I'd love to experience.

  9. Yeah, I'm thinking a gay guy who knows no Portuguese and hates sauna culture is going to have an awful lot of moments of uncomfortable silence during a 90-day stay in Brazil.

    Brazilian Saunas

I don’t know what the fee request is at present, but if it is R$100, then don’t worry, for with the exchange rate being as it is, that is not much money at all. Don’t expect to pay what the locals pay, for the guys at the saunas don’t expect to receive from a tourist what he receives from a local. When I traveled to both Rio and to Sao from 2002 until 2011, I paid no more than R$100; I did not do any overnighters. Read the other threads regarding fee requests at the saunas in Brasil. Also, note the economy in Brasil has tanked, and if the quoted fee is R$100- R$150 plus, negotiate. The final, agreed to amount is the guy’s choice.

  12. I disagree that ALL the smiles and chit chat are fake... if you are a genuinely nice person and interesting, real friendships can be formed.... not with all the boys, but it happens. I'm in touch with several guys that either were working boys or workers at the saunas and here we are 15 yrs later and we still talk/message. Tomcal too is a really nice guy (sometimes) and he too has some of the similar friendships. I also go to restaurants, hotels, flights and like someone else mentioned Dr's & Lawyers.... all there for your money, paid to be nice....but friendships can be formed if there is a chemistry or similar interests. The public toilet comment eludes me

  13. Scott, are you mostly into very young looking twinks? If so, Lagoa would not be the place for you. That sauna is a Mecca for masculine muscle studs. Also, it's not cool to hold the fact that Brazilians don't speak any English against them or the local business establishment. Brazilians speak Portuguese. Unless you want to come across as an "Ugly American", it should be your responsibility to try to speak the native tongue of Brazil when you are a guest in the country -- not vice versa.
