Good Luck Reversing Obama's Cuba Policies Big business won't allow it. http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2015/04/cuba-opening-big-business-117009.html#ixzz3XSq6sTge2 points

If you have 10 days in Brazil, Definitely spend at least 6 in Rio....maybe 2 in Salvador Bahia and 2 in Sao Paulo....Rio is similar to Miami with the beaches, the nightlife, the water....and of course the best saunas...In my opinion.... SP is like NYC but larger and more spread out...they have more cultural things to see and great nightlife but its on 10 versus relaxing... Salvador has tons of history and some beautiful beaches and is reminiscent of Rio mixed with somewhere in Africa....definitely worth exploring for a day or two... I would advice to come up with your own game plan for what you want to see and do....like any city there are tons of things that may interest you but as a tourist, you don't want to overload yourself.... Have an amazing trip....2 points

Ok so it's looking like my plan is 10 days in Brazil. Rio for sure and São Paulo but should I try and strech another place? This is both a tourist trip as well as wanted to enjoy the boys of Brazil trip. Anyone got any sample itineraries or ways to break it up that make sense also taking into the account of when each sauna is best to visit.1 point

Thanks for the posts on the Thermas sauna. I had very positive experiences last year on three visits over a month. Often it was just enjoyable talking to the boys at the bar. On a visit during a weekday afternoon it had a welcoming laid back ambience. Even the bar attendant smiled and joked. I hope to return later this northern summer....hope the Euro stays devalued for a bit longer, por favor.1 point

You wrote that you plan to see Rio and Sao Paulo. I assume that you are aware that each airline company has different rules concerning stop overs. If you have not yet bought your ticket, you might want to make your itinerary include either a stop over in Rio or Sao Paulo. You will save money rather than buy transportation between those cities after you arrive in Brazil. If you do not schedule a stop over in your original ticket, there is a penalty to change it later to add the stop over. If you don't change your original ticket or do not include a stop over, you will have to pay for transportation between Rio and Sao Paulo. Unless you buy your Brazil trip ticket on line, weeks in advance of travel, the short trip between Rio and Sao Paulo can cost you several hundred dollars. Alternatively, there is a very nice bus that travels between Rio and Sao Paulo (there are no trains). The bus as more comfortable as flying in business or first. You have a huge reclining seat that becomes flat if you chose. You can sleep a large portion of the trip. The bus takes between five and six hours with one stop for dinner or lunch. Here is the web site for the best best bus company http://www.autoviacao1001.com.br/en Remember, airplanes have delays and traffic to and from airports is sometimes clogged. Some Brazilian airlines make you check your carry on bag. With a bus, it goes without delay, most of the time. And, it takes you from town to town, rather than to and from some out of town airport. For your first trip, you may not want to spend a lot of time trying to squeeze in as many sites as possible. There was a 1969 movie called "If It's Tuesday, This Must Be Belgium" which was a comedy, of sorts, and included world wind travel trying to see as many places as possible in a short time. In the end, the travelers were so tired, they did not enjoy the trip. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0064471/ You asked for an opinion/advice, now you have mine. Boa viagem1 point

U.S. Encouraging Cuba To Shift Toward Democratic System Of Corruption News in Brief • Politics • World • government • politicians • world leaders • ISSUE 51•15 • Apr 13, 2015 WASHINGTON—As part of the White House’s effort to mend 50 years of acrimonious U.S.-Cuba relations, members of the Obama administration called on the island nation this week to adopt a more democratic form of corruption. “If Cuba is to thrive on the global stage, it must end its autocratic abuses of power, and hold free and fair elections to determine which officials will ultimately siphon off public resources for their own personal gain,” said Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman, who called on Cuba’s communist regime to cede some political control and let opposition parties play a greater role in its shady backroom dealings and systems of graft. “We recognize that change will not happen overnight, but by allowing influence-peddling, kickbacks, and the misappropriation of funds to be controlled by elected representatives of the people, Cuba will earn the world’s trust and respect. It’s time for Cuba to embrace the same dishonest, nominally democratic form of government that all of its neighbors have.” Sherman went on to express the administration’s hopes for a future in which Cuba will regularly conduct transparent elections bought and paid for by powerful corporate interests. http://www.theonion.com/articles/us-encouraging-cuba-to-shift-toward-democratic-sys,38422/1 point

http://www.newyorker.com/humor/borowitz-report Borowitz Report April 14, 2015 Hillary Clinton Officially Begins Nineteen Months of Looking Concerned By Andy Borowitz LE CLAIRE, IOWA (The Borowitz Report) – With a stop in Iowa on Tuesday, the Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton officially embarked on a nineteen-month marathon of looking concerned. Sitting with patrons at Jones Street Java House, in Le Claire, the former Secretary of State listened intently, sipped from a cup of coffee, and nodded her head at appropriate junctures, flawlessly reënacting a brief scene from her first campaign video. After about twenty minutes of virtually nonstop displays of empathy, a Clinton aide said, “we decided to shut it down.” “Hillary is staring down nineteen months of sipping coffee and nodding her head,” the aide continued. “We want to make sure she paces herself.” After her Iowa visit, Clinton is scheduled to bring her looks of concern to New Hampshire, South Carolina, and other early primary states. It's day two and already she has sucked me in. Sucked as in figuratively, not literally.1 point
