The one thing you need to know, although Health Care is inexpensive compared to say the USA it is increasing and as you get older it will become impossible to get health insurance. Thus you have to self insure since Medicare does not travel. Cost of living varies greatly depending on where you want to in Thailand. Anyone who doesn't make numerous trips here first would be making a mistake. And you have to budget on what you need as a resident rather then a tourist and see if that allows you to be Happy. Even then do not make a permanent move until you have spent at least 6 months here and if you are leaving family members then factor in airfares etc to go back and visit. Too many people look at is they visit for a short time and say wow would'n this be great without realizing that they do not have the money to live like a tourist 52 weeks a year. The DOJ just filed an amicus brief asking the court to strike down any state law banning same sex marriage. See PDF here. I think it fairly states the good guys version of the case and, for a Supreme Court brief, is not too heavy on legalese. Ultimately all the litigation about gay rights tracks back to two landmark cases from the late 1990s. Romer vs Evans first established that homosexuals were a 'suspect class', i.e. an unpopular minority historically known to be subjected to persecution by the larger community. See PDF here. In his dissent Justice Scalia quite rightly points out that the majority is skating on thin ice, constitutionally speaking, and is deploying a lot of smoke and mirrors to dodge sticky legal questions. Lawrence vs. Evans established that suppression of sodomy was not a legitimate state interest sufficient to justify locking up queers in jail. See PDF here. Again Scalia forcefully argues the contrary view in his dissent. He also, correctly we hope, points out that the majority justices were deluding themselves to pretend that Romer + Lawrence did not directly lead to gay marriage equality. On a personal note, I heard about the Romer decision on the evening news and immediately drove to a state university nearby to get a PDF printout of the decision. I just couldn't wait for regular channels and knew that news reports often get the substance of court opinions wrong. For once the reports were understated. I almost cried as I read the majority opinion. From these two cases all our legal blessings flow. Amen.2 points

Kitten Livers with Onion Marmalade Yields 4 servings Ingredients: 2 cup butter 2/3 cup snipped fresh chives 1/2 cup sliced white onion 1/2 cup sliced red onion 1/2 cup sliced leeks 3 large shallots, sliced 2 teaspoons chopped garlic 1/4 cup Sherry 1/2 cup half and half salt and pepper 1/2 LB kitten livers Directions: Melt 1/4 cup butter in a cast iron skillet over medium heat. Add chives, onions, leeks, shallots and garlic and cook until tender. Add sherry and stir until no liquid remains. Increase heat to high. Add half and half and boil until reduced, stirring constantly. Season with salt and pepper. Remove and set aside. Melt remaining butter over medium-high heat. Add kitten livers and cook to desired doneness. We recommend eating kitten livers medium rare. ---- Warning: Don't overcook the liver; there's a fine line between just right and tough & dry. Try it, you might like it (best with organic free range kittens).1 point

Exif data is attached to photos automatically, from a regular camera it can include enough info to link it to other photos you've put online and maybe figure out your identitiy, but from a cell phone camera it includes stuff like GPS info which could provide your location as well as identifying info. Run the photos you send out to hookups though an exif viewer/remover.1 point

Burner phone, separate email accounts, no FB page.1 point -
Excellent information, and a little surprising. But I have never given my real phone number out to a dancer/escort etc. I use a separate loadable phone I got at the grocery store for that. No real names and untraceable as to my identity, at least that's the plan, but in this day and age, perhaps anything is possible. I saw an app the other day that can GPS any photo you download onto the Internet, even if it is taken of something as generic as the dash board of your car. It recognizes the kind of camera/phone/aper setting/ and location, and will Google earth the location down to a few feet. My cousin asked me to join 'linkedin' and post a profile. I did, but was careful to keep information about myself generic. Linkedin will link individual profiles to like minded professionals. A neighbor who lives down the street and with whom I have only communicated with once by email, and only met once, popped up in my computer as 'someone I might know'. It gave her full real profile and all personal information about her and her business, and all her contacts. Certainly information that I wouldn't want my neighbors to know about me. I would imagine that linkedin is data mining. But not sure. I guess the lesson is that, nothing is really private anymore. Can you say "1984"1 point

Personally, I prefer the indoor kitten livers. Feral livers tend to be tough regardless of how cooked. Best regards, RA11 point

Fox: New Evidence Hillary Killed Lincoln By Andy Borowitz WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—In what may be the most serious allegation ever made against the former Secretary of State, Fox News Channel reported today that Hillary Clinton was involved in the conspiracy to murder President Abraham Lincoln. The latest charge against Mrs. Clinton was reported by Fox host Sean Hannity, who said that the evidence of her role in the Lincoln assassination came mainly in the form of e-mails. According to Mr. Hannity, “If it’s true that Hillary Clinton killed Lincoln, this could have a major impact on her chances in 2016.” The accusation against Mrs. Clinton drew a strong response from Sen. Lindsey Graham (R.—S. Carolina): “There’s been a concerted effort by Hillary Clinton to cover up her role in President Lincoln’s murder. She has said nothing about it. This is bigger than Watergate, the Cuban missile crisis, and the Second World War put together.” Responding to the allegation, Mrs. Clinton issued a terse statement indicating that she could not have participated in Lincoln’s assassination because she was born in 1947. “That’s what she wants us to believe,” Sen. Graham said. http://www.newyorker.com/humor/borowitz-report/fox-new-evidence-hillary-killed-lincoln1 point

RIP. Albert Maysles, Grey Gardens Documentarian, Dies At 88 Emmy Award-winning documentarian Albert Maysles died last night at the age of 88 at his home in Manhattan. Maysles is probably best known for Grey Gardens and Gimme Shelter, both of which he worked on with his brother David, who died in 1987. The brothers won two Emmys, but neither for the aforementioned documentaries—in the 1980s they won for Vladimir Horowitz: The Last Romantic and in 1991 for Soldiers of Music. You may also be familiar with one of their six films on installation artist Christo (count 'em), including 2005's The Gates and Christo's Valley Curtain, which was nominated for an Oscar in 1974. In their obituary for Albert Maysles today, the NY Times recalls their 1994 interview with him, where he told the paper, “Making a film isn’t finding the answer to a question; it’s trying to capture life as it is." Here he is talking shop a few years ago: In February, it was announced that Grey Gardens would be coming back to the big screen following a makeover, and today is the first day of its six-day run at the Film Forum. http://gothamist.com/2015/03/06/albert_maysles_rip.php1 point

I appreciate the response. The more information I have the better. Looking to get out of the US in the next few years, but the stability of the Thai government has become a concern. Sort of playing a waiting game for now.1 point
