Unless you can't find a cheap air fare, try not to take the bus. It isn't bad actually. But the traffic jams on the Marginal expressway on the way to the bus station at Tiete can often be horrendous. There are also three levels of bus service. Not much difference between the two cheapest. The more expensive gives more leg room and from what I have read, at least one beverage. Best part of arriving at Tiete is the metro station is right in the bus station terminal complex. It is an interesting place to see at least once for the massive numbers of people transiting through going from one place to another in Brasil. Think of the masses of travel zombies hubbing in ATL, ORD or DFW.3 points

I have been to Brazil as much as Tom over the years and disagree with him. Off season for the saunas is when Tom is in town. All the boys seem to be preoccupied and thus I get lonely.2 points

Yes, but if the average person only lived to 32, one needed to hurry, didn't one? Best regards, RA12 points

Tomcal is correct, there is no "off season" at the Brazilian saunas. There is, however, certain months when it is very hot in the saunas. January to March is hot. When you visit in August, you won"t have to contend with the heat. In fact, the weather should be pleasant. If you visit in Brazil's summertime (now), the heat does not create an "off season" but it certainly influences the amount of time that clients and garotos spend in the saunas. The heat can make being in the saunas very uncomfortable. Fortunately, the heat generally doesn't bother the garotos as much as it bothers the clients. Rio is generally hotter than Sao Paulo, which also has saunas and there is no "off season" at the saunas in Sao Paulo, either. When you arrive in August, the temperature should be pleasant but you will hear garotos claim that it is cold. Many will wear a sweater or jacket. I used to think it was funny to hear the young garotos complain about being cold or "frio" in 70 degree temperature. I am currently in Brazil and the heat is in the 90s during the day. Despite the heat, I am happy to be here. Have a great trip to Rio and be sure to do your "homework" with respect to scouting out the locations where you want to visit and how you will get around while you are in Rio. A good start might be to learn the Metro system for the areas you expect to visit.2 points

Tomcal, thanks for your answer and all of your posts, I'm new to the forum but all of your past posts have been really helpful! First time in Rio so I hope to not make so many newbie mistakes.2 points

I will write about ilha grande and paraty again. When i get home and i will be able to post pictures correctly. However. I arrived to salvador de bahia yesterday afternoon. I stay in barra, because of the beach. I went to sauna paradise, which is really close and you can walk there - 15 minutes. Sauna is nice, clean, but there were no working boys. Most of the customers were over 35 and mingling among themself. Not worth of going from our perspective....2 points

A satisfying, but meta, answer is, "Poe wrote on both," given by puzzle enthusiast Sam Lloyd. More in the spirit of the nonsense genre, Aldous Huxley ventured, "Because there is a 'b' in both and an 'n' in neither." Beautifully bizarre. More at this link. Lewis Carrole's answer to his own riddle: Carroll's answer to why a raven is like a writing desk? "Because it can produce a few notes, tho they are very flat; and it is never put with the wrong end in front!" I'm sure your thighs are now sore from the repeated slapping they took after you read that line. Originally, it was supposed to be a little funnier than that. Carroll spelled 'never,' as 'nevar' — 'raven' spelled backwards — but a proofreader erased the inverted pun before it was published.1 point

Went to Meio Mundo last night. I was talking a bit with one of the guys who was there on Monday night, he told me that from about 9PM on, the place was packed until Midnight. Failry late-arriving crows. Also that there were quite a number of garotos from 117 and Pointe. So, good to know for when there are future parties.1 point

Still can't get Clint's little stunt at the Republican National Convention out of my head. I suppose I could let bygone be bygones, and just go see the movie, but it's more fun to dislike him. I just hate to support the movie, by giving him some of my hard earned disability money. "The wackadoodle"1 point
