No need to apologize. All sites run well only when members see something wrong and point it out. When a site is built, the code usually works well. But, then all these other factors change and with with change to java script or a browser or a new OS or new devices like tablets and phones, the code must be constantly tweaked. When I first got into website construction, there was really only one browser and that was Internet Explorer. Man on man how times have changed. BTW: welcome to the site!

  5. Here's the youtube link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3bRsfwTjos Czech dancers seem to have their own style of dancing. Dancers in the U.S. and Canada are more about the traditional bump and grind. Anyway I can't believe I'll be there this weekend. Yeehaw!

  6. Have fun. Make sure you sit at the bar for a bit to admire the lovely bar staff. A few drinks purchased for the staff and the dancers will yield great benefits and break the ice quickly I wish I could be there with you Ojibear

  7. There are a few times during the night at Escape when you find yourself chuckling. The "Romantic dance" usually is anything but...the boys are usually friends(sometimes more)but they are just like any other young fellas when they are told"Ok-now don't laugh!" so of course they do. The other fun time is the group dance. The boys have fun with that, I wish they would play Yakkity Sax and see what happens!

  8. In The Making of the Atomic Bomb Richard Rhodes sets the scene the evening before the test shot in the New Mexico desert. ...Oppenheimer had assigned Edward Teller the deliciously Tellerian task of trying to think of any imaginable trick or turn by which the explosion might escape its apparent bounds. Teller at Los Alamos that evening raised the same question Fermi had, but questioned Robert Serber, no mere uninformed GI: "Trying to find my way home in the darkness, I bumped into an acquaintance, Bob Serber. That day we had received a memo from our director [Oppenheimer]...saying that we would have to be [at Trinity] well before dawn, and that we should be careful not to step on a rattlesnake. I asked Serber, 'What will you do tomorrow about the rattlesnakes?' He said, 'I’ll take a bottle of whiskey.' I then went into my usual speech, telling him how one could imagine that things might get out of control in this, that, or a third manner. But we had discussed these things repeatedly, and we could not see how, in actual fact, we could get into trouble. Then I asked him, 'And what do you think about it?' There in the dark Bob thought for a moment, then said, 'I’ll take a second bottle of whiskey.'" Rabi, the real mystic among them, spent the evening playing poker.

  11. You had me with "Making and owning an H-bomb is the kind of challenge real Americans seek." But, then, later, you added, how to protect yourself from fallout and I was hooked and yours forever. Owning and controlling the use of atomic weapons is one great thing but avoiding fall out (both kinds) is just icing and icing on the cake. Best regards, RA1

  12. Please note that my post was intended as a request for further information rather than a position statement. A bit of funk doesn't necessarily have to doom a close encounter, but I do like to know whether I should just throw an extra Handi Wipe® in my fanny pack or perhaps tote along something a little more robust.

  16. Drama? Oppie's early title was 'Coordinator of Rapid Rupture.' The Brits code-named their part of the project 'Tube Alloys.' The Los Alamos scientists referred to the bomb as the 'gadget.' A young Feynman would sneak around at night safe-cracking all the lab safes and taking out top-secret papers to leave on desks for security to find. Just before the test firing at Alamogordo, Fermi had fun agitating the soldiers on guard by taking bets among the scientists as to whether the bomb would ignite the atmosphere. The whole thing was a laugh riot!
