Federal Judge Rules Ohio Ban On Out-Of-State Same-Sex Marriage Recognition Is Unconstitutional District Court Judge Timothy Black on Monday ruled that Ohio’s ban on recognizing the out-of-state marriages of same-sex couples is unconstitutional — a move he announced in court earlier this month that he would be taking. “The record before the Court … is staggeringly devoid of any legitimate justification for the State’s ongoing arbitrary discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, and, therefore, Ohio’s marriage recognition bans are facially unconstitutional and unenforceable under any circumstances,” the judge wrote. Black earlier, in another case that Ohio officials appealed to the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals, ruled that the marriage recognition laws in the state were unconstitutional — but the case was limited to the treatment of death certificates. This ruling, which related directly to treatment of birth certificates, applies to all purposes for which same-sex couples married out of state might seek recognition in Ohio. http://www.buzzfeed.com/chrisgeidner/federal-judge-strikes-down-ohios-ban-on-recognizing-same-sex1 point

Cool. In the "old" days there were many flights where the cabin attendants loved their job and loved to fly. The flights were not nearly so full and "things" were different. I well remember going from TUL (Tulsa) to DAL (Dallas Love field) on AA on a late afternoon or early evening flight where the gals started throwing pillows and every "sane" person joined in. Not your everyday flight. It was a great break from the day's routine and a lot of fun. I am sure many of our frequent fliers can tell tales about various "fun" flights they had but, sorry to say, most from the "old" days. Thanks for the vid. Best regards, RA11 point

I really didn't know if it was possible, but....guess what, it is no longer enough to spell it out for you. And as Roseanne said,"it just goes to show you. If it's not one thing, it's another."1 point

I've never seen the show; but, based on the pics, only Chord appeals to me. I don't find him scorching hot, though.1 point -
To be precise, my reading of the articles indicates that he pleaded no contest. My understanding is that in a legal sense there is a distinction between pleading guilty and no contest (in which typically the defendant still refuses to admit guilt). I haven't been able to find anything that indicates a plea bargain but that wouldn't surprise me. However I believe such a plea bargain would usually be worked out between the defendant and the prosecutor (from my years of watching Law and Order) and would focus on charges/pleadings with the prosecutor making recommendations on sentencing. However the judge still decides on the final sentencing (and can even reject the plea agreement) within the guidelines set forth for the crime. So I wouldn't be surprised if the defendant was surprised himself at the sentence that eventually came down. There was some initial discomfort in thinking about the judge overstepping her authority in the sentencing but in this case I am pretty much ok now with the punishment fitting the crime. Besides, the defendant has legal counsel so if there were some serious issues with the sentencing then his lawyer should have acted. I am pretty sure this guy won't be bothering his neighbor anytime soon.1 point

The train up to Corcovado is a funicular. The Bondinho that goes up to Santa Teresa and connects with the funicular to Corcovado at the Silvestre terminal is a whole other different thing. The funicular is an import of memory serves direct from Switzerland. While the old Bondinho was a rickety wooden affair with steps on the side that the more agile residents of Santa Teresa would hop off and grab on to with no charge as long as they did not sit down. It could always be a bit thrilling crossing the acqueduct at Lapa and being able to look way down. With basically no decent protective fence. And of course, when climbing and descending through Santa Teresa, there was always the fear in the back of my mind at the strength of the brakes. Well, something went wrong in 2011 and five passengers were killed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YmxKdxNfbk1 point
