So many of these photos caught my attention. But the Mom putting her kids up for sale was as tough as any. Young Elvis was really quite cute, Charlie Chaplin, not so much. http://www.boredpanda.com/must-see-historic-moments/3 points

Tomcal, your photos of Andre, the lean Brazilian who moved to Europe and is now muscled with a six-pack, are intriguing. But readers should beware: it doesn't always work out so well. From the gym, I know a middle-aged guy (a retired Army officer) who went to Brazil on holiday and came back with an unusual souvenir, a 19 year old boy who moved in with him. I saw the boy shortly after his arrival and he was like Andre, tall and lean. The boy came from an ordinary, large family in a working-class area. My gym-friend is not rich but lives comfortably. And within a year, the ready access to all the food he wanted, and all the sugary things he desired, caused the boy to balloon in size. He's now 23/24, still tall but he's very fat with love-handles and a wobbly belly. He still lives with my gym-friend, who now looks elsewhere.2 points

Folk singer, activist Pete Seeger dies in NY Like so many folks, my political awareness dawned with a Pete Seeger tune in the background. He dropped out as a Harvard sociology major in 1938 after hearing his professor say ''Don't think that you can change the world. The only thing you can do is study it." With his banjo and message of hope he set about proving his prof wrong for the next seventy-five years. Will we ever see his like again?2 points -

Well, yes, Charlie, but... ... hyper-technically speaking, you could be generous and assume I was using "W of B" as a metonym (synecdoche?), drawing in the penumbra of all the Byzantine(& to this ex-protestant baffling) goings on of the Vatican. Can I get a ruling on this, AS?1 point

I think (at least I hope) you mean these comments for MsGuy. Trying to draw me into an informed sports conversation is kind of like asking a resident of Pompeii to offer a few humorous remarks on the subject of lava. (not one of my analogies, alas, rather an old Tom Lehrer wheeze)1 point

No one wins with too much salt which I consider a bad habit. Yes, we need "some" but not nearly as much as most of us get per diem. I don't cook with salt and, in fact, do not have it in my home. Yet, I am sure I still get more than enough of it in various foods. If everyone threw the salt shaker out the back door and concentrated on other herbs and spices we all would be better off. OK, enough preaching. I still say adding salt is a bad habit. Best regards, RA11 point

The photo is from his high school playing days (apparently due to an injury he hasn't had much playing time as a freshman at Wilamette U). He went to Southridge High School (so that explains the "S" on the helmet). Very observant Charlie.1 point

Conner's kind of cute for a semi-jock. But he's a kicker, not a real football player.1 point

Nick Buttocksky, noted Alabama tight end, came out during media day at the NFL combine. Still rated as consensus 1st round draft pick, Nick says he just has to be himself & credits a post from Lookin on Boytoy.com for giving him the idea. "First one of you suckers that giggles gets ripped a new asshole."1 point

Really! Especially bi. That's barely sliding one foot out the door. I bet in another year or two it won't count unless you swear you're a pig bottom who's into cross-dressing and hot wax facials.1 point

I returned to Fragata again tonight, Tuesday evening. Remember, Sunday and Tuesday nights are the “best” nights for visiting Fragata. Again, tonight, I was extremely disappointed at the turnout of garotos at Fragata. The place had only a few garotos and the sauna, to be blunt, was deadly dull. In all fairness, there has been a terrible heat wave, high humidity and thunderstorms in Sao Paulo for the past week. The 10-day forecast for Sao Paulo is for more hot weather in the nineties EVERY DAY. Supposedly, Sao Paulo is breaking heat wave records for this time of year. I previously wrote that Fragata has no air conditioning. There are a few fans but all they do is blow around hot air. It is actually hotter inside Fragata than outside. When I arrived at Fragata (around five o'clock) the temperature was in the nineties and stifling inside the sauna. This certainly explains the low attendance of garotos and clients. Considering the 10-day weather forecast I probably will not visit Fragata this coming Sunday. What did I learn from my past two visits? I learned that whenever anyone in the future asks me about Fragata and which days are the best, I will continue to say Sunday and Tuesday but I will add a proviso, if the weather is hot, thundering and muggy, stay away on those nights.1 point

A good time to watch again the wonderful 1982 documentary about The Weavers, of course titled 'Wasn't That a Time!' http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084894/1 point

It's uninteresting and boring and full of stereotypes and stuff we've seen before and disappointing and completely insular to the point of alienation and its mother wears combat boots! (This is a TV show we're talking about, right?)1 point

Salvador is for me the most beautiful and interesting city in brazil. History, old town pelurinho smells on slaves. Statistics and outlook also say that it is dangerous. However, it is not if you follow usual brazilian precautions, but you have to be more strict. It is also a lot of mucis on main square and side streets. Gay beach is called barra. It is much lessgay than ipanema. Couples and childred everywhere. With just looking and smiling , i didn"t sucseed to connect. However, there were great bodies walking around. The sea is warm and very clean, a surprise for big city. Vendors at baraccas also take care of unvisable security. But very crowded. I went twice to sauna planetario 11. Always about 10 boys working. They are all muscled guys, no twinks. The guys are also older. They say they are 25, but look more like 35 to me. I took a picture of 1 guy, but it didn' come out fine, so i will not posted it. I would return to salvador again - not for sauna- but for old town, feeling of the city, beach....1 point
