  1. Bet business in Faraday cages is booming, in certain quarters anyway. I recommend renting 'Enemy of the State' with Will Smith for a look at the technology that no longer looks as far fetched as at the time that movie was made. About the only thing that movie missed or misled about was satellite-on-demand technology. Orbital mechanics still must be obeyed, even when NSA or NRO calls. That and competition for access to limited eye-in-the-sky resources. There is a long line. Electronic gathering from space is a whole different proposition. More like strip mining or large ships trawling that scoop up many fish varieties by the tons to be sifted for processing or discarding back into the ocean.

  2. Saw it last week. Although it's a three hour movie, it's very fast paced and seemed like only two hours and forty-five minutes.

  4. Sorry, this is off topic but you provided me with a memory of an image that I "have" to relay. Large fire fighting aircraft can fly low over a body of water and scoop up a tankful and then proceed to the fire and dump it. As you can understand, this saves a LOT of time, not having to land, re-load with water and take-off again. One perhaps amusing and also perhaps perplexing result is the finding of fish in the remains of a fire. Imagine being a inexperienced smoke jumper and, while fighting a fire on the ground, find fish being rained down on you. Best regards, RA1

  5. Agree 100%, ihpguy. And the thrill is enhanced as you walk out over the falls, and you see to your right an incomplete walkway that is higher - and which bears a notice (in Spanish only) that it was closed after part of it was washed away by the strength of the waters!

  6. I detested Titanic. I kept on waiting for the damned boat to sink so I could get the hell out of there. There is something about Leo that I find distrubing. However, I did like his acting shtick tics in Gilbert Grape. Blood Diamond, wavering accent. The Avaitor? Anyone really feel any kind of connection with Cate/Kate?

  7. I let slip a little moue, rather than a severe frown, when I saw the Elgin Marbles. Like the King Tut burial treasures, it would be so much more moving to see them in place where they came from. Of course, they may have been ruined had they stayed where they were. And not as many folks would have seen them. But I can understand those who want to see them back at the Parthenon.

Sounds like she's in the zone. Here's a little history on how the brand came to be and here's a bit on Kraft's efforts to market it as cheese. A bookend to Sir Henry's wheeze: 'Frankly, once I've eaten a thing, I don't expect to see it again.

  10. There is not much more exciting in this world than taking the long walkway over the falls on the Argentinian side and looking right down into the Devil's Throat.

  11. Trzinko, I liked your 'Don't ask me which side is better, probably the one you see first!" I agree with how you responded because both sides are truly spectacular. I was there sometime before 2010. ...liked the experience very much, but if I were to do it again, I'd rather be traveling with a partner or two. I did not like this particular trip or place as a solo traveler, but I loved the falls and the hotel in which I stayed. The hotel was on the Brasiian side right in the park itself. ...outstanding natural beautry reign supreme! Was asked by my guide who had been hired via my late carioca travel agent if I'd wanted to go to a sauna; I declined the offer because I'd wanted to enjoy "the boys" in Rio which was my next stop on this trip. ...had a Brasil pass during this particular trip, so I was able to experience a lot of Brasil. Keep on enjoying and experiencing and updating us when you get the opportunity!!!

  12. The last 2 days i have spend on iguazu falls. The first day i got soaked When walking from bus station to hotel, that was really closed. Yesterday, I soaked when i was riding a boat under falls and today 5 showers Hit me when i was walking on the argentinian side. Falls are magmificent, No such in europe, and i would say niagara is much smaller. Don't ask Me which side is better, probably the one you see first.

  13. Thanks, ax! Happy holidays to everyone! After hiking for 10 days in Argentina and Chile, back to city life for some action Mezz Friday night right after flight landed. It's pretty busy at 6pm. 20+ boys working, cafe area half full. I have a particular type: clean cut college boy next door, slim, not too tall, not too muscular. Or high school drop out boy next door works too there are three fits the bill! Unlike Lagoa, Mezz is much more a social place. Boys sit drinking, eating and chatting with customers for a long time, and often ends up not going to a room in the end. So have to wait a while if the boy you like is occupied. Also not speaking the language is a huge disadvantage. Sadly, to my surprise, as I manage to talk to two of the three boys I liked, they are both strict tops! By 8pm, the third boy left quickly after sharing a meal with a client. Didn't get a chance talking to him at all. Boys here are nice, but not many others trigger my fancy. Funny some big guys are versatile, the pretty boys are all tops tonight. Three strippers came on stage, they all have defined six packs or eight packs, but funny people would like that when there are boys available for more intimate fun. Tired after traveling, I decided to call it a night. Pity I didn't get to spend any money on the boys. Hope I will have better luck tomorrow.
