Happy new year to everyone! New Years is a pretty big family holiday in Brazil. Not a good time to be a tourist, most small restaurants in centro has closed up since the day I arrived (dec 30). Good my hotel is right beside shopping estacao, one of the largest shopping center here, which remains open until afternoon today. It's very up to date with food court rivaling any mall in canada. With clube 773 not open on Mondays, I Went to 520 sauna yesterday between 6 and 7. The reviews on here are quite accurate. Good facility, but just a handful working boys, a dozen clients. Nothing interesting if you are looking to hire. Today weather is very pleasant, took a walk to the centro historical. Centro has some nice small squares, but shame so many grand old mansions were now used as shabby store front and some building completely abandoned above bottom floor. Much better than the decay of Havana, still the government should have done better. Botanic garden is quite small. Not much to see. Clube 773 doesn't have a website for holiday schedule. It's a 20 min walk from my hotel, so I just stroll over, find it closed. Will bus to São Paulo on Jan 2. Really should have done it sooner. It's much more cheaper and convenient if it's within 6 hours. Not much action on grindr either. Will try 773 again tomorrow to see if it's open. Just relax and hope Lagoa will be good after New Years.

Excellent! Although one can't but wonder just how different the real faces might be from those pictured on the booths. Not that it matters.
