  2. It's not easy trusting the government when it's in the process of becoming more opaque. Fundamental decisions are being made behind closed doors. Could anyone have believed a dozen years ago that we'd have a federal court that did not publish its decisions and was not subject to oversight? Even Congress wasn't - and isn't - told the full truth. If the government thinks it needs secrecy in certain areas, it should lead the public debate about which areas and how much freedom citizens are willing to give up in return. Getting ratted out by a contractor is not a trust-building maneuver. In my opinion, it's not about trusting what goes on behind closed doors; it's about making sure the doors are rarely closed and don't stay shut for long. Once they're shut, how is anyone to know what's going on behind them? What if a war on terror becomes a war on gay porn? I don't especially need James Clapper checking into my browser history. While I don't expect that to happen any time soon, I also don't expect the government to rein in its new-found technical capabilities on its own. I think, without public input, expansion of targets is inevitable. Where has restraint been shown so far? I've linked to this article before about changes we asked the Germans to make after 9/11. It's a decade old, but still provides food for thought about how trust is built when a government is transparent to its citizens, and citizens are opaque to the government. I think we are moving in the opposite direction.

  3. Thanks for the advice and helpful vocabulary demos, Pauleiro ! Went early today around 5. Not very busy yet, only a dozen boys. Most were here yesterday. None triggers my fancy. Waiting is kinda nice, as boys and customers keeps coming in. It's like a box of chocolate, no say what's the next one by 6, it's as busy as yesterday. Two of the three boys I like from yesterday didn't show. One new white boy I like very much, except for the tatoos on his leg, perfect compact college boy type. But he didn't look my way and quickly sat down with a couple. Long wait again. By 7, this place is approaching capacity. All tables are occupied and you can't walk freely in the hallway without bumping into others. Easily 40+ boys, but most too buff for my taste. The white boy I like went with the couple. I noticed a dark boy just came in, a little too skinny but with a great smile. He is saying hello to a lot of the boys. Not much of a college boy type, a high school drop out perhaps ok but I've had better. He caught my glance and quickly walked over to say hello, giving me a teasing bite on one of my nipples. Not sure if the white boy will be available later, I decide to try this one. There is a waiting list for rooms tonight! Such a bummer. The boy said something about eating and disappeared. I start to feel bad about the deal. I hate tasting other peoples food The boy came back before too long. It's a 15 min wait and we went up to one of the rooms. He is not as warm as before we made the deal. It's an ok session. After we showered and come down, he starts hustle me to get him a beer. I am not really in the mood and tell him I am leaving. The white boy is free now. But I can only do one a night. Walked around to see what's new, super crowded, but no one really stand out. It's almost 8, decided to call it a night. The sun has almost set, so it's much more comfortable outside. It's been close to 40c hot since I came back to Brazil three days ago. Tomorrow will be my last day here, hope it's less packed and some fresh faces.

  5. Garmin has some outstanding products and, obviously, a good business plan to get where they are now. However, they are not perfect and being "top dog" usually means you are a target if not already slipping. Either you are going up or down. There is no standing still. During my career, I have watched several aeronautical companies rise to the top and then topple. NARCO was supplanted by King and King was supplanted by Garmin. There are several would be and current rivals nipping at Garmin's heels. Generally good as this keeps new products in the supply line and tends to reduce the prices thereof. However, the trick is to not get caught with the last of the "good" products just as a rival competitor takes the lead. In aviation this has happened many times to my customers, partly because of the advance of technology, partly because of the rise and fall of various companies and partly because of the inefficiency of the FAA. Personally, I have been disappointed several times using various "driving directions" internet programs. Somehow I always get lost. Of course, pilots are generally not in their element on the ground. No compass, no direct to, no controllers to help and only two dimensions when three are so much easier. Best regards, RA1

I'm with Charlie and EXPAT. A roller bag that fits in the overhead compartment will get me anywhere I need to go for as long as I like. It helps that I avoid cold places, as shorts, sandals and polo shirts take up very little room. And I like that my stuff stays with me at all times. A journey starts with just one step. It's nicer when I do not schlep.

  9. Are we now denigrating James Clavell? What has happened to freedom of speech? Are we all now nattering nabobs of negativism? Are we now being censured? I resemble all those remarks. Best regards, RA1

  10. I never used Siri for help but I have used Google Maps on my iphone the same way you did. I like that Google Maps will also show me how to walk to a place or even how to use local public transit. It helped me find many places in Thailand and allowed me to walk from my hotel to the place I wanted to go. I am a bit scared to use my iphone to walk around when I am in Brazil.

  14. Interesting metaphor, lookin. I never thought of it in terms of two way transparency. Peeping us is all well and good but they sure get their panties in a knot if we put an eye on their keyhole. Oddly enough, the same advanced tech that makes us so naked to their gaze would make it possible, for the first time since hunter/gatherers, for human governance to be transparent to the governed. If only they wanted it. Or, maybe better put, if only we insisted. Hey, look at you.

    Gay Guide in Rio

I hired guides my first few trips to Brazil and it was great. I really needed it. I still like it and often hire one in Sao Paulo. I would suggest hiring one for your first day or two and getting into the saunas and finding someone who speaks great English and offering them a job they can't refuse.

  16. You can natter on all you want about McDonalds but the slow food at my local coffee shop/truck stop makes McD's look like a tofu bar on Telegraph Avenue. At least Micky D makes the franchisees keep the facilities reasonably clean. You talking about me? Yeah, Harry, it always has to be about you, doesn't it! Shut it, guys! Just once I'd like to take a dump in peace.

  17. Those are great. I never realized that Victor was a pansy. What talent does it take to lick the crème geographically? I have certainly been "attacked" by clothes pins, needle nosed pliers and staple guns. Those look like roofing nails but I have never seen a porcupine on a roof but I would like to do so. I have seen many notebooks that would attack as alligators. Does that mosquito carry malaria aka the anopheles or simply "good times"? Sorry to analyze each rendition. I liked them all and was overwhelmed with appreciation. Best regards, RA1

My dear, it is hard to be a princess when you are already a queen. TY, I normally don't travel with that much but I wanted to be sure I had a lot of stuff in Thailand that I like to use like my Nespresso machine, pressure cooker, iron skillets, etc. You know, things that just have to be used once every blue moon.

Strip show and Oral Academy at Action Bar I do not remember the name of the porn star doing the Strip show, but he has a muscular and great body and a thick dick in erection. And i am happy to see that yesterday's barman is going to be the one performing the Oral Academy : in the oral academy, two boys come on stage and start sucking each other. When then are in erection, they simply go completely naked in the public and anyone willing to suck them, does it. I do not suck but I love touching and the barman's body is nice and firm. I cuddle his tight little arm and muscular body while he is been sucked by a couple of customers. Tomas is his name. Obviously not off limits at all. There are not many customers, and I love wanking his hard curved cock. The other performer is not at all to my licking and I do not even touch his cock. I meet Alex that I met the day before a 29 lad with grey eyes who likes daddies and who sucked me a couple of times the day before in the back room and then in the toilet (ie in the light so that I can see him sucking me). He is here again and comes to me after the show asking if it possible to suck my dick.. Everything is possible and we go to the toilets for my personal Oral academy (only one student !) with 2 happy ends. Great time in Action bar and in Budapest Have a look at the barman's ass
