    I needed that

Johnny Cash was a tremendous talent and I grew up listening to his music and his wife June Carter Cash. Being from Alabama, the gospel music and country music was just all we had and while I grew away from it the older I got, I still have great memories of the good songs along the way. My family also loved Johnny Cash and I remember once we were driving by his home in Nashville and we got out to takes some photos and both Johnny and his wife came to the gate and chatted with us. He was a kind and gracious man and very humble.

  2. It was during the second night together with my ex-lover. This was in Amsterdam at a just-okay three star(maybe) hotel near the Leidseplein. Across the street and the Lijnbansgracht from the much, much nicer American. Anyway, we were having really, really hot sex and we set off the fire alarm in our room. At about 2:30AM. No clue as to how it happened. But it did. The whole hotel had to be evacuated. Well, we kept on going at it. Did not leave. Just ignored the knocks at the door. The management not only traced the tripped sensor to our room, but they also told all of the other guests who were responsible. The next morning in the breakfast room, one can just imagine the looks we received. Although the relationship ended after 13 some good and some bad years, that episode still brings a smile to my face.

Nice decorations and how sweet it is of you to show off your mother's ornaments for her and the family to see again.

  4. I guess that I am lucky enough to make this a difficult task to choose one thing that made me smile a lot. I really enjoyed flying the FEDEX MD-11 simulator. I really enjoyed and appreciated the first time I flew a single engine aircraft across the Atlantic Ocean. However, overcoming adversity and helping another overcome it, provided at least one of the "top 10" smiles. An instructor at the Piper Aircraft Factory begged and begged me to let him take a trip across the Atlantic. Finally a trip came up that seemed suitable. There were two aircraft so we could fly together with the plan to go to Goose Bay, Canada, then Greenland, then Iceland and finally Scotland and the UK delivery point. We got to Goose Bay OK but he got cold feet. The weather wasn't good enough + a long list of reasons/excuses to not proceed to Greenland. I spent two days talking to him and trying to decide what I was going to do if he really didn't go. Finally, he went. We made it to Greenland OK and re-fueled, then proceeded to Iceland. Spent the night in Iceland. He was elated to have successfully made two 600 mile over water legs and to be in Iceland. I think he ordered the Icelandic equivalent of a bucket of chicken that night. We had one more 600 mile leg to Scotland which was made without further cajoling or unusual conversation about it. Just file the flight plan, get fuel and go. I was satisfied to get the job done and satisfied that he had overcome his personal problems. Apparently he crossed off an item on his bucket list. I don't think he ever did anything similar again. Best regards, RA1

  5. Waiting at EZE for flight to FTE for Patagonia hiking. They have free wifi here. Spent yesterday afternoon at Lagoa until 7:30pm, it's been a year since my last visit. How nice to come back. Watching new faces coming in continuously after 4pm. However, my type is the clean cut college boy next door type, not many fits the bill. By 5:30, this dark slim boy from São Paulo chatted me up. He seems clean and friendly, I like his smooth slim body. So we went upstairs. It was not bad, but I've had better. A decent start. A little after 6, the place is now packed. Easily 30+ boys. Well, no strike out for me yet. Then at 6:30, Daniel came in. This is the tall slim white boy I had some fun with 2 years ago. He is more tanned now, defined chest and light six pack abs. I wish I had waited a little longer however, he is occupied immediately with some regular clients, and soon disappeared Having to leave at 7:30 to catch a flight, it's not meant to be wish He will still be here first week of January when I come back. Stayed a little longer just to see who else comes in. Lot of new faces, but no one else beats Daniel. Wish I could stay longer, but gotta go as it's 7:30. Nature time in Patagonia until Christmas. Then will be back in Brazil including POA and São Paulo. Also will spend a few days in Curitiba, but it's mid week during New Years there, so don't expect much. Will post if something interesting happens.

  6. Surprise, surprise. Bible belt states lead the US in gay pornography searches between 2004 and 2011 Oscar Loves Life A secularist, Muslim-born scientist's perspective on religion, hypocrisy, conflict, sexuality and society The states of the Bible belt, America's conservative corridor, lead the country in searching Google for homosexual online media content between 2004 and 2011. I applied Google Insights for Search to the term gay porn and filtered the results to the "Online Media" category. The specific link to the search I performed can be located through this link. The results are normalized by Google such that the scaled numbers can be compared with each other. The top 10 states that lead the United States searching for gay porn are Mississippi, Florida, West Virginia, Texas, Louisiana, Kentucky, New Mexico, Nevada, Ohio and New York. The results also include a map showing the relative scaling for search volume across the US. Search volume index for gay pornography searches Since a few of the states in the top 10 are Bible belt states, I wanted to graph the search volume index of gay porn as a function of religiosity for people from those states. I included data from a recent Gallup Poll that surveyed Americans about how important religion was to their lives. I plotted the results of this poll as a function of the number of searches for the word 'Bible' in each of the 51 states, just to confirm the that Google searches do indeed reflect the opinions and interests of the people within their states. To no surprise, as the graph below shows, there is terrific correlation between the Gallup Poll on religion and the relative number of Google searches for the word "Bible". Utah comes out as an anomaly because of the large Mormon population who are not as interested in searching for the word "Bible". For Utah "LDL" was more searched religious term. Next, I plotted the Gallup Poll as a function of Google search volume index for "gay porn" and plotted the results below. The trend is not perfect, and it is not meant to be. But it does have some interesting features. The results clearly show that the most religious state, Mississippi, also leads the country in gay porn searches. Several other religious states are also surprisingly at the top of the list. Those were the results and in my opinion, this data shows that hypocrisy is quite prevalent in the Bible belt. People may be conservative or they may be pretending to be conservative, but there is certainly a lot more homosexuality around than they are led to believe. It is also possible that homosexuals in these states are oppressed and are reluctant to come out of the closet and fuel their frustrations through openly dating. They may be a lot more isolated and alone than gays in California, for example, which is a much more liberal state. As a result, they turn to the Internet to sexually satisfy themselves. The table below shows the raw data. Data for the Google searches for gay porn has been extracted from the Google Insights for Research website which can be accessed through this link. Similarly, the data for the "bible" Google searches can be accessed through this link. The data for the importance of religion for the states comes from a recent Gallup Poll. State / Google searches for gay porn / Google searches for "bible" / Religion is important (%) Mississippi 100 93 85 Alabama 78 100 82 South Carolina 79 85 80 Tennessee 77 93 79 Arkansas 88 91 78 Louisiana 90 63 78 Georgia 82 77 76 North Carolina 81 76 76 Oklahoma 79 79 75 Texas 93 77 74 Kentucky 90 72 74 West Virginia 89 67 71 Kansas 75 60 70 Utah 61 24 69 Indiana 75 66 68 Missouri 80 64 68 Virginia 64 62 68 South Dakota 63 60 68 North Dakota 59 48 68 Nebraska 68 51 67 New Mexico 91 47 66 Florida 100 60 65 Ohio 85 57 65 Maryland 59 50 65 Pennsylvania 80 48 65 Michigan 78 58 64 Iowa 63 50 64 Illinois 76 49 64 Minnesota 58 48 64 Arizona 80 45 61 Idaho 58 44 61 Wisconsin 65 43 61 Delaware 65 40 61 District of Columbia 56 40 61 New Jersey 77 34 60 Wyoming 66 49 58 California 75 48 57 Colorado 78 44 57 Hawaii 76 40 57 Montana 68 50 56 New York 83 38 56 Connecticut 66 28 55 Nevada 88 33 54 Oregon 57 46 53 Rhode Island 85 25 53 Washington 67 46 52 Alaska 57 49 51 Maine 78 29 48 Massachusetts 71 25 48 New Hampshire 66 28 46 Vermont 74 24 42 http://oscarloveslife.blogspot.com/2011/12/bible-belt-states-lead-us-in-gay.html

  8. We have all lived lives full of adventure and fun and work and love, etc. Looking back over your life, what memory makes you smile the most? For me, it goes back to my teen years and my "thing" was rolling yards. Yes, taking toilet paper and cover a friends yard was great fun for me. When I was 16, my mom got me a new baby blue Firebird. It was my joy. Well, one day at church, all the kids I taught in Sunday school were laughing and I knew something was up, I just didn't know what. Everyone was starring at me. I went outside and right in the church parking lot was my beautiful baby blue car rolled with hundreds of rolls of toilet paper. Not only the outside, but the inside had so much paper that I could not sit down. It was payback for years of mischief. Still, to this day I look back at that moment and smile. Sometimes I even laugh out-loud at the crazy things I use to try to pull and in one swoop, the whole gang got together and changed the colorr of my car from blue to white. My best friend said, "only Charmin for your car as we know how you like softness."

  9. For me. it was discovering Montreal way back in the 90's. I still smile every time I think of it. The city is beautiful and I have had a lot of fun there. Christmas time especially makes me smile. I remember going into La Baie and seeing almost a whole floor dedicated to Christmas Decorations/Trees etc and will never forget how happy that made me. (I am the biggest kid at Christmas and cant get enough of it). I have gone every year since at this time and although things have changed a bit, I still love it. Then of course, discovering Stock too was a thing I will never forget. Just thinking about this city makes me smile

  11. There needs to be a lot more accountability of police actions in this country. I know it is a difficult and dangerous job but that is no excuse for violating the rights and liberty of citizens, often stonewalling if not outright denial when errors come to light. With authority comes responsibility. Responsibility means, among other things, accountability.
