  1. So, does cinco de mayo mean 5 times a day? Best regards, RA1

  2. I surrender. Of course, I have eaten a lot of LA food while visiting there. However, a spectacular meal cooked locally by a friend of mine who calls himself a "coon ass" was boiled crawfish with potatoes and corn on the cob + his secret seasonings all in the boil + Po' Boy sandwiches made from fresh small loaves of bread and shrimp very slowly cooked entirely in butter. Eating shrimp with the butter still dripping on fresh hot bread was fun as was biting the heads off the crawfish before eating them. A few drinks made it all go down very smoothly. Best regards, RA1

  3. Right you are! The recipe itself. I have a friend from New Orleans who's an excellent cook, with a sister who's even better. No one but the two of them can make a gumbo, or anything else with okra, that I can get down. Jambalaya, generally made sans okra, is a different story altogether. They, and their friends, also taught me the importance of cooking crawfish with their heads on. The crawfish heads, that is. The friends, not so much. Not sure if intelligent design would apply in all cases. Of course, some of them are not exactly poster children for evolution either.

  4. To each his own... but internet connectivity, social networking, etc can be utilized as a relationship in an of itself or as a means to enhance a new or already existing one in the "real world." I grew up in the days before the internet (just a few days though, I don't consider myself ancient... haha) and so my personal definition of a relationship involves face to face, phone to phone, a hand shake, a hug, a kiss. Not purely texting, not purely email, and certainly not exclusively xoxoxo. One of the huge benefits I found in this site and Hooboy's before this is that it facilitated the opportunity for me to meet like-minded (at least in one aspect of our lives) people in many different places in this very large world. As much as I love coming here and sharing information on the internet on a daily basis, that pales in comparison to the in person dinners, conversations, strip club outings, and trips I have taken with friends/acquaintances I have made on or through this message board. This dilemma of wondering what has happened to some of those who we have grown to "like" in this medium may serve as a reminder that we need to walk the extra mile to meet and enjoy them in person while the opportunity still exists.

  5. Judge exposes Texas strip clubs’ lack of cover by ordering larger underwear Tim Walker The Independent Wednesday 01 May 2013 In a cheeky ruling, which positively bulges with double entendres and dirty literary jokes, a Texas judge has ordered strip club dancers in San Antonio to don larger underwear. Chief US District Judge Fred Biery delivered the formal written ruling on Monday: “The Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Bikini Top v The (More) Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Pastie” demands the city’s strip joints adhere to a new regulation, requiring dancers to wear bikini tops instead of the miniscule, nipple-obscuring “pasties” previously favoured. “An ordinance dealing with semi-nude dancers has once again fallen on the Court’s lap,” wrote Biery. “The age-old question before the court, now with constitutional implications, is: Does Size Matter?” Strip clubs, he complained, had “clothe[d] themselves in the First Amendment” while making an “alleged naked grab at unconstitutional power”. They “seek an erection,” he went on, “of a constitutional wall separating themselves from the regulatory power of city government”. The lawyer acting for San Antonio’s strip clubs saw the funny side, saying the ruling was “one of the most entertaining things I’ve ever seen”. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/judge-exposes-texas-strip-clubs-lack-of-cover-by-ordering-larger-underwear-8599728.html
