If I'm reading it right, the user (you) has to choose to install buttons. Here's a link that tells a website owner how to build a custom button for the user to click on and install on his Google Toolbar but, again, it looks like the user has to take the initiative and choose to click on it before it's installed. Haven't yet come across anything that suggests websites are 'pushing' hot links onto unwitting users via the Toolbar, and you just may be the canary in the coal mine. If the practice becomes widespread, I can definitely see the potential for low comedy to ensue.
